Thank you for my medal, Mrs SD.I have a lot buzzing around in my head at the moment and will be pleased when the decluttering and catching up of home maintenance is finally done - it will make the day to day stuff so much easier to deal with. A couple more jars finished up at lunchtime - we will definitely get there now that OH is banned from buying any food not on the list (apart from his snacks which we don’t keep stocks of and he shops for on a Saturday morning).Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅16

Hi there. Roommate came home at 4 in the morning from the emergency ward. He has edema, possibly from liver problems. Will need to be sorted out. He came home by taxi (paid for as part of his medical insurance). I was still up though waiting to hear from him. So slept in until 8 this morning, then got up and feed the pets, washed my hair, and worked on the computer.
California has a law that every inmate in jail can have 5 books a month to read - and our local jail was in trouble for falling behind. So a few months ago, we started gathering paperback books in English and Spanish to send over there. Once a month, a lady comes with a truck and between the Friends and the library giveaway program, we fill the truck bed with boxes of books. Helps us clear off the shelves after our book sales too.
We probably have close to 8500 (or more) books for our next book sale already sorted. They are on ten big carts that that hold almost 600 books each (on wheels thank goodness) and about 20 small carts that hold almost 200 books each. We also have one large cart with a couple of thousand DVDs, and four other carts of DVDs and CDs. It takes up a lot of room to do the sale. Our goal is to get books out there to be used and not be sent to the landfill, so we keep our prices low. We have another couple of thousand books waiting in our work room that don't go out and are used to fill in the shelves as the sale goes on or to refill after the sale because we have run out of sales space. This is all in addition to our little book store that is open all of the time inside the library. It is only about 10 feet square. There are 7 of us who regularly work at the sale. It keeps us busy.
Today is doing laundry for roommate with arm in sling, going to get the hair washed and cut, then to pick up medications, grocery shop, and go to the bank. Will get ready for family "Easter" dinner tomorrow after that. Too many people were sick for Easter dinner so my sister saved the Easter plates and decorations for the party tomorrow. It is also a birthday party for two members of the family. If we stay inside, it shouldn't be a problem with the weather - as long as her air conditioning holds out (expected temperature is 103F (about 43-44C). Then the temperature is supposed to drop the next day. Today will be almost that, but we will keep the curtains closed and the hot air out and use fans here so it hasn't been too bad.
Wishing everyone good luck for the week and a temperature they can live with.

1 week til dd2 goes to uni and not much packing done, but found 3 bike locks she doesn't want, I binned and others to be passed on (will count when that happens), shoe rack picked up via freesite , 5 items in CS bag, clothes, mug , DD trainers for recycling, bedside lamp ( managing to give away rather than try and sell). I did want to post to sell stuff but been too twot! (or is it just twot). Been through my clothes and more tops to go away, a little paper declutter and rissotto with back of the fridge veggies, Mrs SD I am finding some spaces in drawers but more stuff on the floor as I start to put like with like. Also bank frog but again too hot for frogs or concentrating!134719

Hi all, since my last post I have decluttered 12kg of apples, 8 kg into crumbles and into the freezer, except 1 which we had for pud tonight, and the rest peeled and chopped into the freezer. I ran out of containers that can go in the oven and freezer that would easily fit in. 2 LDFPA, lr bin emptied, finally persuaded OH to put up the other lamp shade with me acting as general assistant
. The veg in the fridge from the 2g2g box not used, 2 cabbages, carrots and a cauli, has been peeled, chopped and frozen, we are only really eating the salad stuff atm, and the big pineapple box it came in has been put into the recycling. Those of you who keep track will have noticed the ironing has not happened yet
.It will be done tomorrow, it has just been twot but it is forecast to be cooler tomorrow. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it
@weenancyinAmerica, I love that law and I hope the inmates get something good from all your efforts. I think reading is good for the soul,.
Ok off to bed now, very tired after all that chopping, hugs to anybody who would like one.
1265 apples sorted
1266 + 1267 2 x LDFPA
1268 lamp shade installed
1269 veg sorted
1270 box recycled
1271 lr bin emptied
Take care everyone

I didn't post yesterday - it was a busy one.
Took trolley full of stuff to the charity shop and then went shopping - had to wait ages for a bus home.
There is still a fenced off hole in the road by our house. In the late afternoon - men arrived - closed off the road and dug a hole about 10 houses along the road. Again - flood lights and noisy machinery.
We went to SA in the evening to receive delivery of unsold food from M & S - our commercial fridge in the kitchen didn't have a lot of space - officer had bought supplies for today's buffet lunch - we hoped for a small delivery. No! - It was the most that I had taken in - packs of chicken, steak pies, chips, black pudding - which I had to play freezer jenga in the two commercial size freezers. The crate of bread and cakes could stay in the kitchen overnight. Then I had to sort the chilled food - loads of it to fit in the fridge.
Then when I was locking up - Mr F set off the alarm - he wasn't quick enough getting out after I set the number panel. I managed to sort the alarm and text the officer as he gets a notification.
Came home - we had water - so I washed up.
Went up to bed - no water again to clean my teeth!Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Struggling to get balance of everything RL, frogs and physical decluttering with the chaos in the house unbelievable!
Packaging out, broken wooden hanger, book to cs bag, 2 to textile recycling. I have lots of picture frames (some with no glass) and realise been getting some prints frames when may have been able to use what I have , so pleased found one frame to go with a print so will take it to the framer and picture up pictures that have been there since March now I've found the ticket.135316 -
Feeling worn out as haven’t slept well the past couple of nights however am pleased with progress today. Lots more papers recycled or shredded, others filed and others placed in new folder system for further action/follow up. Will be away from home for a few weeks however am taking things with me to read/follow up/write letters and emails. Will take time off in December then final push January to March. Plan is to be up to date and fully clean and tidy by end of March.
