3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
An inauspicious start to Friday - only just got up (12:15) but at least it is a bright sunny day with clear blue skies & 26C 🙂 I have my cuppa & am settling down to cheerleading - wish me luck 🍀
Gers, not sure that I would class maintenance decluttering as inertia 😅🤔 Great work clearing your wardrobe 👏 & it sounds like you have been brutal 🤩
The tablecloths sound beautiful 😍 so if you are donating them please remember to take photos 🙏 A wonderful motto “Memories shouldn't be invested in things when they stifle life” I have added it to my list of quotations for future reference 😉 & am awarding you a medal 🏅
What a lovely idea Siebrie 😊 As you say better to use embroidered tablecloths than leave them in a drawer 👏
2Scratters, a great observation about remembering happy times but needing to be wary about keeping too many physical items - which ties in well with Gers’ earlier observation 👏 One medal 🏅 coming your way too 🙂
QueenJess, sorry to hear that you were still feeling terrible yesterday 😔 It sounds like you need a week in a Spa Hotel with people waiting on you hand & foot 😉 but in lieu of that 💐 & 🍰 Re your digital clutter, perhaps treat it in the same way as you are planning to treat your library 😊 Slowly & steadily - setting a timer for 2 x 15 or 30 minutes each day then stopping 🤔 However, first you need to recover 😊 By the way I will not put up with your comment “Feeling like a bit of a failure as everyone else seems to be on top of all this stuff and I just can't seem to keep up with anything” - the ‘wagging finger emoji’ would be perfect here 😊 You have done a stupendous amount of decluttering 👏 but appear to have ‘forgotten’ that your decluttering is a marathon & not a sprint 😔 Please, please take it easier 🙏 I have only just stopped worrying about Florenceem 🥹
nannywindow, sorry to hear that you have also been unwell 😔 sending 💐 to you also. Seems to be something doing the rounds at the moment, not helped by the changeable weather 😞 Good news that the scrappy man appeared as if by magic & that now you only require one Tip run this week 🥳 Unfortunately now if you want good quality furniture that will stand the test of time you need to remortgage your house 😔 & even then it is not guaranteed 😭
Wednesday2000, thank goodness no glitter 😊 Sounds like a winner - a session of reflexology later in the day, sleep off any side effects & wake up the next day rested & relaxed 😌 Excellent decluttering 👏 I must remember to see if I can find a copy of the Dilly book when I next go to the CS 😉 In lieu of fresh flowers next week here are some virtual 💐
oceanspirit, great cheerleading 👏 one medal 🏅on its way. Great idea letting the veg box contents & short dated items decide what to cook 👏🙂
Great decluttering roundtuit 👏 A good start clearing RoD1 🙂
Great decluttering Soontobeoap 👏
More great decluttering short_bird 👏
Liverpool_Anne, you still manage to get a lot done even when feeling fragile 👏 Does OH have a room of their own? - If so, perhaps just gather together everything that is on the gas cupboard & put it all in OH’s room 😈 with a short note explaining why - if you are feeling generous 😉 Such a shame that the shop closed but fingers crossed that you can find another one to donate your RHS magazines to 🤞
Excellent digital decluttering QueenJess 👏 Good luck with the monitoring 🍀 & hopefully a solution will present itself 🤞
Florenceem, sorry to hear that MrF’s feet are so swollen still 😞 Hopefully the doctor can sort something out quickly 🤞 I am sending lots of positive vibes to MrF that the 2022 work issue will be resolved quickly & with a minimum of fuss 😊
Excellent decluttering QueenJess especially the C…….s cards 👏 Re the Lego sets - putting them on Buy Nothing & giving DS the money yourself seems like the best use of your time & energy 😊Looking at it logically - if you were ‘paying yourself’ to list items for sale, how much would it cost?
I have reached the end of a page so seems the ideal place to stop for half an hour or so 😉 whilst I sort today’s mail 😉

I have to empty my freezer so I can move it to paint the lean to wall, so some strange meals are planned. Todays was ok, a Hm lasagne which went in there after Xmas but was actually pretty good. Posted a couple of small eBay items and listed another, also sold a bundle on Vinted so I'm £17 better off altogether. I must make myself list more, even small amounts of ££ are welcome these days and it's all stuff out the door.Am going out for a drink tonight, I really would prefer to stay at home but feel I ought to be sociable.Magnolia Stellata17

Very hot here today.
Finished another 20 Christian cards.
I feel very on edge coping with Mr F - he has been home a week now. This is going to be a long journey to health for him.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

@QueenJess I'm in awe of how much you declutter both physical and digital and the fact you have clear sides in a house with children. I certainly don't have it together and house full of stuff, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Though would make our life's smoother and calmer if we streamlined a little bit! 🤔
I had a lovely day with my mum yesterday. We walked around a place called Goblin's Combe and had a lovely lunch in the nearby garden centre.
My friend's mum passed this morning and the news hit me harder than I thought it would. She was only 70. It does makes you appreciate what you have and it's the time spent with people making memories rather than the stuff cluttering up our homes. Life is for living and enjoying as much as we can.

14:30 DH has just gone out to pick up his prescription. Back & checked tyre pressures 🙂 I came out just as he was lying on the ground & had the fleeting thought that he had collapsed before remembering what he was doing - what am I like 😉 I did deal with today’s mail so have a couple of replies to post. Everything filed away & previous correspondence re the same companies has been shredded 🙂 Away longer than I intended as I have had hm soup for lunch 😋 & watched Countdown 😉Back now at 17:00 😉 Quick mention of something that just happened. DH received a message that he had spent all his Nectar points at Argos 😱 Logged into the chat site & got through - New card being sent with all points reinstated + an additional 2,000 points for notifying Sainsbury’s - Result 🥳 Well done Sainsbury’s 👏🏅
TC77, well done on not only working out some of your ‘blocks’ to decluttering but also making a start on tackling them 👏 Perhaps we ought to set up a training course “How to Beat Procrastination” - I know I would definitely benefit 😂 Florenceem, Dfw38 & QueenJess could probably be the lead trainers as all three of them get so much done 😊 & none of them dilly-dally 😊 Keep up the good work TC77 👏
QueenJess, marvellous post 👏 Thank you for sharing your thought & action processes 😊 One Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 🙂 I especially like your conclusion “………….It can work as a powerful tool to get decluttering and once you do a small area and start to reap the rewards, there is extra motivation to continue”
Brie, fingers crossed that you can persuade OH that a kitten will be conducive to harmony & a stress free environment 🤞without having to wait until the house is decluttered 😉
Great decluttering Rootle 👏
You are welcome Floss 😊
Dfw38, beautiful picture of Ziggy the Cutie 🥰 Looks like he has had an exhausting day 😅
Excellent tidying & decluttering TC77 👏 The ‘little & often’ adage does work 🥳
-taff, thank you, thank you, thank you 👏 What an absolutely marvellous post - Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 😊 Your post was a ‘stream of consciousness’ but succinct with plenty of ideas & information elucidated 🤩 Now I just need to put your shared thoughts into action………although it will have to wait until I am back from Scotland 🤣 oops 🙊
Liverpool_Anne, what a lovely way to celebrate someone’s life 😊 Funerals used to be such sombre affairs but thankfully society seems to be moving away from that 😊
I have reached the end of another page so will pootle off & prep tonight’s dinner - spaghetti Bolognaise 😉
See you later 👋

HI declutterattii saw a purple hairstreak butterfly today ~ never seen one before ~ beautiful
. Yesterday had been thinking I havent seen a blue butterfly (one of my signs from above that all is good!) and then today I saw this beautiful butterfly, it was black with vivid flash of purple (looked like royal blue to me!) Its usualy very elusive around oak trees, but this was while I was waiting at traffice lights! then when i got home I loaded up facebay there was a post with several blue butterflies on it
Any one else ask for signs , or is it just me. I also love to see a jay or a buzzard or a flamingo ~ amazing how often i see a pink flamingo!!!Any way I digress, not much decluttering except kitchen diritus!! and ALL my energy looking after pupster!!♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

Mrs SD thank you for my medal.
Made a start on the MC box and it was very satisfying. Lots of things into recycling or shredded and other things slightly more organised into categories. Filing has become an issue as little filing cabinet is too full to get anything else in so have had to start a filing pile on top. Need to go through it to pull out tax return papers which is something I started months ago but had to stop to get other things done for OH’s house sale.

Evening all. Its beeb a busy couple of weeks. I've been reading along but don't seem to have found time to post. The DDs decided to clear out last year's ice lollies and refill the drawer with new as some had gone jelly like. I sorted through some of my craft stuff and it's now in a cupboard instead of small boxes everywhere and DH has still been very busy on the garden in between the rain.
Wanted to post today as this evening a skip has arrived! Going to sit in the garden and supervise DH tomorrow so all can be added to my list 🤣
QueenJess, we have a candle set just like that that I feel bad getting rid of as sister bought it us for Christmas.
Dfw38, what a gorgeous kitten. When our cat had kittens (over 10 years ago) we had a very similar one the children called Ahsoka, they were devastated when he went to his new home. Sending hugs to all who need them xx

I have made a Bolognaise sauce which is simmering away nicely on the hob 🙂
DSis has already ticked me off by saying “didn’t we have pasta last night” & yes I did bite my tongue & resisted physical violence 😂 but only just 😡 Anyway, I have now plonked myself down & am about to have another session of cheerleading 😉
Siebrie, I want the ‘wagging finger emoji’ back now that MSE techies are updating the site 😉Everything crossed that it works this time🤞 DH trying to be helpful by hiding stuff 🤔 Mind you, everything in one place has turned into an unintentional boon 😉 Very, very impressed with both your daughters & their decluttering prowess 👏🥳 They have each earned a Gold Star ⭐️⭐️ & you have also earned a Gold Star ⭐️ for your fine example which has obviously permeated both your daughters consciousness 🥹 Perhaps sweeping everything into a box & getting your daughters to do the decluttering is the way to go 🎉 😉 Two boxes dealt with & one box repurposed 👏
2Scratters, what great ideas for QueenJess 👏 & any of us who are also muddling along 🙂 So many good ideas listed in one place has earned you a medal 🏅 I agree that QueenJess really does need to be kind to herself 😊
Siebrie, thanks for the confirmation that ‘micro tasks’ work 👏
Excellent decluttering 2Scratters 👏 Sometimes the very best thing to do to keep yourself motivated is to list all the decluttered items & all the tasks completed 😊 We are quick to think that we haven’t done much & often slow to realise how much we have done 😔 Not sure if that is a mainly female trait or not 🤨
QueenJess, lovely chatty post & yes I laughed like a drain 🤣 Not only at the idea that your DH will come back in September to a ‘Minimalist Home’ but also that he didn’t dare complain about you giving away the hair cutting kit 😂 You have definitely had an “horribilis septimana” BUT you must remember to celebrate your successes 😊 You have still managed to do a lot of decluttering - both physical & digital👏
Brie & Wednesday2000, I think there is a long queue forming to visit Ziggy the Cutie ….. or should that be Dfw38 😅
Florenceem, pleased to hear that you had a bit of a lie-in 😊 Great work persuading MrF to close down a couple of accounts 👏 Also I can understand your reluctance to allow MrF to hide away in his office 😬 It took so long & was so stressful sorting finances that I agree there should be a new system put in place of jointly tackling financial affairs 😊 Hopefully MrF will appreciate that any issues that come up can be sorted quickly with the two of you working in unison 🤞😊
florianatwobob beautiful flowers 😍 No wonder you decluttered money 😉 Like Brie I would probably bankrupt us if I ever went to an event like that 😂 & the moth is definitely attracted to the leaf shape 🙂
stellata, good luck with the freezer emptying 🍀 Fingers crossed that the combinations won’t be too strange 🤞Well done on the selling 👏 as you say every little bit helps 🙂 Hope you enjoyed your evening out 🤞
Florenceem, sorry to hear that you are feeling on edge coping with having MrF at home 😔Hopefully you can both settle into a new routine over the next few weeks 🤞& as MrF gets fitter & stronger you will be able to relax a bit more 🤞 I am pleased to hear that you are managing to carve out some time for yourself to make cards 😊
Fizz2015, Good luck with your decluttering & streamlining 🍀 I googled Goblin Combe - what a beautiful area of Somerset 😍 I also read the legend of the fairies as well 😉 So sorry to hear about your friend’s mum 😔 Condolences to your friend.
Hi ~FlowerPot~ 👋 What a pretty butterfly 😊 yes, I did Google it 😉 I generally don’t look for ‘signs’ but I do appreciate seeing any butterfly or bee 😊
You are welcome oceanspirit 😊 Well done on getting started with the MC Box 👏 & it sounds like you have your next project lined up - decluttering the contents of your filing cabinet 😉
Excellent decluttering charlies_tribe 👏 I especially approve of decluttering ice lollies 😉 How exciting to have a skip & I did smile at your intended supervisory role 😁 Hopefully your numbers will go through the roof 🤞I take it your children were Star Wars fans 😉
Dinner was delicious - slightly thicker spaghetti than usual meant more surface area to cover with meat sauce 😋 Wudupa.
