Lost my post! Thank you for ideas, inspiration and confidence in me . I had slacked off saying I will tackle in the autumn when hopefully dd2 goes to uni but need to tackle before then..quite pleased with having done some stuff before work today. I do think I'm there's an element of not making space for new stuff as may not be good or that I don't deserve it ( not good thinking I know) but trying to understand my blocks. Have bought new duvet cover and underwear and got rid of some so trying to ensure not too much comes in. Putting things DDs may want in so they can most likely say no and I can pass on.want to offer them jewellery etc before passing on but know really not their style, nor mine for much of it 😞🤣🤣18

@TC77 I often imagine what I want my life to look life after the decluttering. It certainly does not involve wading through stuff and spending significant amounts of my time tidying, cleaning or generally dealing with stuff like I do now. For example, I don't want to spend more than 10 mins looking at personal emails and dealing with them everyday so I need to get the number coming in down. For physical things, I like clear tops so if I get time to dust it takes seconds, same with the floors and as I hate tidying I want to put something away in seconds. I also don't like things on show as they remind me of the stuff I haven't done/need to do and so it isn't relaxing. I don't put things away if the cupboard/drawer is too full or it is too much hassle; so the emptier the drawer/cupboard the better. If the floor is a mess it usually means the cupboards/drawers really need a sort out!I imagine the time I would have and how much more I could relax without stuff around that frankly I don't get time to enjoy and don't ever use anyway. It can work as a powerful tool to get decluttering and once you do a small area and start to reap the rewards, there is extra motivation to continue.2025 decluttering: 3,925🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

@DFW38 I've come back for another look at your kitten. Wish we could get another as I do miss ours. Think I'll need to give it another year before OH relents..... 24/52 - an out of date foccacia kit made up, eaten and packaging binned. Probably a 5 out of 10 and it needed more salt!
25/52 - a large pile of forgotten clothes in a middle cupboard taken to the washing machine! and some packaging also lurking there binned.18 -

beautiful kitten DF, well done!TC77, the only way to get over inertia is to do something. If you haven't yet found a method that works for you [ tried Dana White?] then the only thing left is to Just Do It. Personally, one of my pet peeves is having to move stuff to get to stuff. I hate it. I was determined to not do that but have found I actually am. Having decluttered quite a lot of areas, the kitchen equipment area is overflowing, with tins, bowls, tupperware, fancy serving dishes and I am fed up with it. I could always do a challenge with you? Ten minutes once a week to declutter some area that really irriitates you and me...If you're worried about things going to landfill, not an awful lot does any more, wood goes for biofuel, general waste recyclbleis shredded and burned for electricity, rags go for mattresses etc, metal is recycled, hardcore goes to roads or buildings, garden waste is composted, cardboard and paper are recycled, so there's not much that isn't reused now. Any useable object can be given to charity for resue by someone who will really want it because they will buy it, other stuff can be given away, you could sell clothes to the 40p a kilo brigade, books to charity bookshops or World of Books or similar, the avenues for recycling are endless. And besides, god forbid soemthing should happen to you but if it did, do you think whoever has to deal with your stuff will care about where it goes or will they just put in landfill anyway? You're not really saving it from landfill, you're just delaying when it gets there. At least now you can farm it out to useful places. And if it's memories these things represent, why do you think you need the object to remember? Are you spending your time remembering things instead of making new memories? Were you happier in the past? I was reading something yesterday and someone remarked that all we have is the now. I have a friend who lives in the future. Everything is about the next thing, the next appointment, the next action, the next screen, the next thing to do so she never actually enjoys anything she does because she's so focused on the next thing. If your focus is on the opposite, work out the moetions that you live with and decide whether they are useful to you, or enjoyable. Nostalgia and reminiscing are lovely somtimes, but a whole life of that is a lot to maintain.Sorry, went on a bit there, just thinking aloud...Anything not useful, ignore, anything you feel is too close ot the bone, I apologise in advance...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi25

Hi all, the funeral was a lovely tribute to one of the most joyful and fun loving women I have ever met. I cried buckets. Standing room only in the chapel and some of the stories about her made me laugh
. A very emotional day.
The only decluttering achieved today was the bedroom bin and recycling were emptied.
Hugs to everyone who would like one, off to bed now
940 bedroom bin emptied
941 bedroom recycling emptied
Take care everyone

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
As DH & I are going away for just over a week, I have taken the opportunity to reorganise the kitchen freezer & have allocated one large drawer to DSis. It contains several one person portions of previous meals. If she doesn’t use them, when we return home I will check the dates & slot into my menu plan - as I have noticed that the freezer needs defrosting again 😉 DH has used up various bits & pieces including droopy veg to make soup 👏 My DH is a saint - he has taken my DSis shopping with him 😇(unfortunately that means he will come back in a bad mood as she does tend to faff around 😔) They got back about 1hr 45 minutes later & DH wasn’t in a bad mood 🙂 Although I got into a bad mood when DSis tried to jam things into the freezer 😡 With much griping & tutting she eventually agreed to portion out some of her meats into bags which I labelled. She managed to fill every gap in all the freezer drawers much to my annoyance - rant over 😉 I put away our shopping. DH made cheesy pasta for dinner & then did the wu 🏅I dried & put away.
1615 - 1617 Kitchen & office recycling, drinks cans - recycling
1618 Kitchen detritus binned
Excellent decluttering Siebrie 👏 I love the idea of somewhere to hide from the family 😉 all you need now is a camping stove & kettle 😅 I did wonder about the magazines 🤣🧐
Falling behind on the cheerleading again 😬 I promise to try harder tomorrow 🙂
