DH decluttered a broken fence panel between us and a neighbour to be made into kindling. Replaced that panel with one which will be moved for when work starts on kitchen extension. 1 job ahead and money saved on both sides. There will be another to be removed and that too can replace another in not so good condition too. He also decluttered some pennies he did not want to spend
on finishing some edging and flagging at the bottom of the garden patio/terrace. It is raining just now, so I am the one who gets excited about this whilst trying to save water and pennies.
Have allowed some more items into the house from parents home. I am sat here quite smug with myself as I have broken down an item that came from them a couple of months ago and it was not what I thought it was so that is now recycled and I came away with the item I was really after.
I had gone with a shopping/purchase list of what I NEEDED from the house so not to collect stuff that I could not nor would use. It workedOther items that will be used up have been put into place and will now redo the kitchen inventory. I am impressed there is nothing lying about and waiting to be sorted.
DS also came to the house and chose some bits he needed and selected some others that I was very surprised at and quite pleased about too.
DSis and I have decided to do a bit more work on getting the last things out 2 times a week as I am in town and we can spend an hour or so hopefully on small successes. DB is out of town all week as that is his job. We need to save parents some money as full Council tax is to be paid so need to get it ready for the market.
Well done all at working out what little bits of tips work for them.
@Florenceem - you are amazing at what you are achieving. Hopefully the clearer home will also help DH on his return as it will be more calm for him and yourself too.
@QueenJess re your son being very decisive about what goes how about sneaking a box of your can't decide items and let him do it for you next time?
Those struggling with RL take care too.

Back from Church - going to change out of my uniform and crack on with the declutter.
I have a lift arranged for the hospital tomorrow.
Hopefully the sun loungers are going this evening. I have someone coming to collect a box of approx 50 vintage dress making patterns. Someone else wants the weights bench. I also offered a vintage tin of military/assorted buttons - being collected too. roundtuit said:I've retrieved the third, and final, Sudoku book from the TARDIS. Apparently I started the book in 2005! (I wrote the date on the first puzzle completed.) The book I've just recycled was a Sudoku Diary for 2008. Hoarder? Me? Hmmm. More of a 'put it in a cupboard and forget it'er in this case.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @2Scratters I'm reasonably ruthless with stuff, but I may let DS loose on DH who claims he is a "minimalist" who has loads more stuff than me that he never uses...I rearranged the food "overflow" cupboards today, so I have like with like and can see what I have. Half a cupboard is just baking stuff
I have been getting through the baking stuff (very slowly), but the rest I need to make more of an effort to either use up or donate. I still have 2 cupboards of overflow food to get through...
No decluttering done today, although more Buy Nothing selections means I will be getting through more of my hoarded packaging. I'm getting back to the stage where it is getting hard to find things to eject from the house, but I am waiting to use up various things and not restock to the same level. E.g. I am getting to the end of an oxygen bleach that I just don't find does much on DS's tops. I already tried a different brand which is much better, but will get through the oxygen bleach first. It's taking forever and I have no patience!I'm very tired today as not been sleeping well (I think it must be work stress as there is a big project over the next two weeks that I am dreading). I am just trying to concentrate on getting my pile of packaging as low as possible, which means lots of Buy Nothing listings. Will reveal my progress after 1 week at the end of tomorrow!2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Off to afternoon service soon with a bag of clothes and a pair of shoes for recycling - SA gets money for bags weight. Can't sort out the shredder - spent 40 minutes on it - think the motor has gone - only bought in March - now I will have to lump it up to Argo.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

@Florenceem you are super women with the amount of decluttering you have achieved 👏 Hope your visit with Mr F goes well tomorrow.
Well myself, OH and DD went for a 5.5 mile hike today in full waterproofs and bobble hats. The rain did not ease up and was very muddy in places. Then a quick trip to supermarket and £99 later. Not even sure what I have to show for it.
Tomorrow is an easy day and tidying the house/decluttering before a week at work. DD has a party late so will need to raid the card stash and find some money to put in. I've given up buying presents unless close family/friends as more clutter for them.14 -

Hi. We have spent the afternoon munching frogs from mil’s estate. We also found time to book a holiday for September. The road through the town is fully open following 5 months of work. It feels decadent to go under the bridge.Mr V has gone to work now so I will spring clean the spare room. It won’t take long as it only contains a trundle bed, a book case with ornaments and a chest of drawers with a change of bedding. I would like to think I can find something to oust from in there. In view of your recent experience Florenceem one of our bank accounts has had my name added. An ongoing task to do them all.I hope you are all having a good bank holiday weekend.Vx:17

Doing well here - someone has taken the plastic crate and 2 lampshades from my drive + a dog took the tennis ball that I found in the garage.
I have 4 bags of stuff ready for the charity shops on Tuesday.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
