@Blue_Doggy I kept mine for years and years and then last year or the year before, I decided away with them. I did read through them and thought, oh dear, did I really write some of that? I've kept all the certificates though.. I suppose it depends on what you think is 'you' too. I know I did a degree, and I don't feel I need the stuff that supports that I did one, just the certificate to prove it if that makes sense. Mind you saying that, it is a bit hard to get away from some of it because I did fine art and I still have several paintings upstairs waiting for proper wall space to hang on. So I haven't got rid of everything everything...

I popped to SA this morning - told them that I won't be there to help tomorrow - I have so much to do here sorting out Mr F's business.
I took Mr F out - lovely day here - took 2 bags of stuff to charity shops.
I must be stressed - I have decluttered 2 packs of yarn to go to the charity shop.Day 4 –

Craving_space. Thank you for your kind words. You too Mrs SD. You are right. I do feel like I have had an intense year so far. I am craving a bit of boredom. All our belongings removed from my Mum’s house. It is all now in my sitting room. Some for charity, some for my loft and some for recycling. DS has sorted all his stuff. They check out of their air b n b at 11 tomorrow. They will come here and collect the stuff they are taking. Hooray. The plumber is cracking on a pace. The plasterer is coming Thursday.I will add declutter numbers another time.Vx:18

@-taff how lovely that you have your own art to put on your walls. I would love to be able to draw/paint but I am very crafty and I believe what makes my home unique are the pieces that I have created. I spent years doing craft fayres to try and make money before I realised that I was better off making individual pieces for my own home that We could enjoy. People arn't prepared to pay for the amount of hours that you put into your work but many of the things I have made have been requested by my children for their own homes. Thanks mrs SD for my medal 🏅
General chat and thinking things out - feel free to skip
I think landfill guilt is a very real and paralysing thing. Lots of us have gone through it or are still working through it. Already been useful advice but for me I've found it gets easier.
If something can be useful to someone else i hate throwing it away but if by keeping it for so long to find the perfect new home it can outweigh its usefulness ie its big and gets in my way for too many months, I try selling it several times and no one wants it, it doesn't fit with the local charity shops, its so small or cheap or personal someone would actually prefer to get new etc etc then its time to move it on.
I feel if I can break it down into its constituent parts and pop them in the right bucket or take to tip for recycling then that's ok. Something like craving space's clippers, my thinking would be- the broken ones would go in my kerbside metal pickup, I'd test the others and if any dont work great - same place, keep 1 or 2 good ones.
If there was more than that thats when I'd start to struggle- someone cud use these, can I wash them and put them in charity shop? Will someone buy them or will the charity shop have to chuck them etc etc. Nowadays I would probably ask myself is this important enough to tie myself up in knots over ? No? In the recycling it goes. Its taken me a while to get there though and I know I still drive mr d mad at times (he's a chucker) but as long as I use that excess to have a better system so that I don't get an excess of stuff like that again in future then I've learnt. If it is important, then I'd be happy to expend a bit more mental effort on.
Be kind to yourself too everyone, I think we all agree we don't have to live in a warehouse or a tip.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off -
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
DH& I spent about an hour & a half in the garden. The table top bed (ttb) was emptied of compost - 2 x two thirds full garden bags. Found the start of two potato plants which are now planted in a potato bag 🙂 The ttb was tipped over 180 degrees & DH repaired the bottom shelf & tightened up the slats whilst I cleared the ground of weeds etc before putting it back the correct way. DH then went round the whole thing taking out old screws & replacing with new longer screws. Now even sturdier 👏 He also went round & tacked the liner in place as it was flapping away from the sides. Next task was to cage the camellia, peony & dahlia before they grew too big. That done I did a bit of pruning. We are currently having a break & will spend another hour in the garden in a while.
Dfw38, so very sorry to hear that the doctor has messed up the paperwork 😔 Sending lots of positive vibes that it is sorted asap. Also very sorry to hear that the children are playing up causing you even more stress. Is there anyone who can take them off your hands for a while? A good idea to simplify meals 🙂 Please try not to wear yourself out & please accept any help that is offered 🙏 Good luck with your mins & AAiA 🍀 Hugs 🤗
Excellent work sorting out & replacing your work bag 2Scratters 👏 Also great work in the garden by both you & DH 👏 The veg soup sounds delicious 🤤 I am hoping ours will be as well 🤞 Enjoy your lunch out with your dad 😊
Lovely supportive post TC77 😊
Florenceem, I see -taff has posted the link 🙂
Thanks for the quiz link -taff 👏 Well said - “we are not the stuff we are decluttering” 😊
QueenJess, I was a Ladybug 😱 although like you I found several of the choices of answer non-applicable 😔 Good luck with your tidying 🍀
Just broke off for another 30 minutes in the garden (17:15 to 17:45) - have slapped on a coat of wood preserver on the table top bed - just the visible bits to make it look like we have done something 😂Also tidied up an excessive amount of greenery with no sign of any flowers 😉 All tools put away & shed door closed.
Craving_Space, do you have a local Tip? If so it could be an idea to have a few small boxes/bags to corral metal bits or plastics etc. Like with like then when a box/bag is full take it to the tip & empty into the appropriate container 🙂 As long as you have a list when you enter the hallowed Swedish portals & someone to curb your enthusiasm for buying then you should be OK 😉🤞
You have been busy Liverpool_Anne 👏 Lovely to have all your washing out & drying in the fresh air 🙂The journey to the hawk walk venue sounds marvellous 🤩 The only time DH & I spot farm shops is when we are heading somewhere to take photos of RBR landmarks 😔 We never come back the same way on the trip home so never manage to buy things like free range eggs 😔 Of course, there is the added disadvantage that we are on a motorcycle 🤣 Very pleased to hear that the B12 jab is helping 😊The hawk walk sounds wonderful & even better as the weather was so nice 🤩 Excellent decluttering 👏
What a great idea Blue_Doggy - using mushroom/strawberry punnets for sorting 👏 I reuse mine for collecting veg peelings & used teabags before they are either zizzed & fed to the worms or added to our compost bins. After several uses they are washed & recycled. Several other good ideas for Craving_Space to mitigate the guilt of putting too much into landfill - so one medal 🏅is on its way 🙂
Stunning photograph Liverpool_Anne 😍 They do like to pose don’t they 😂
Hugs coming your way Dfw38 🤗
Blue_Doggy, very interesting observation about how we identify with our clutter 🤔
End of a page so will post this & concentrate on making dinner. Will be back later 🤞

Rugs, quilts etc.Absolutely! when i think of the time and work involved in making quilts, even with a machines aid, it's mind boggling. I've just finished crocheting a blanket that someone gave me a a present and now I'm going to give it to my cousin as a present for her. If I had to buy one exactly the same, I wouldn't be able to afford it.The painting in my avatar is by a friend, not me btw, I own quite a few of his paintings, I especially like his colourful ones..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi16

Hi all, shopping has been done and all put away, 3 loads of washing dried and folded and either put away or handed to OH to put away
. Had an over the fence coffee with ln as we are both busy now until after Easter so won't see each other. I am about to start tea, I suggested fratata but OH asked for egg and chips
. This evening I will be listening to the footie on the radio as I have decluttered sky so unless I can find the match on a foreign internet channel it is local radio for me for away games
. Tomorrow I have a funeral at 9am so will have to be up and out early and probably not much else done.
@Brie, I knowboth OH and I came away wanting to get one of those hawks but realistically we would have to go on a course to learn how to look after it properly but I am severely tempted to go back for a longer session to look at the viability of having one in an urban environment
I am apparently a butterfly but I am not sure I completely agree as it says I need lots of open storage whereas I do actually like a mixture of open storage and cupboards with doors depending on what it is I am storing, I expect lots of people don't fall into the exact categories because after all we are all different
Hugs to everyone who would like one
