I can’t remember if I said thank you for the medal MrsSD, thank you again if I didn’t.Florenceem difficult for your brother with the delayed op. Hard when you are psyched up for it and then deflated. Here’s hoping it happens soon.I am sat at the dentist waiting for an extraction!!!! Blooming abscess came from no where Saturday evening. I could do without it. Dentist is in Nottingham. DS and DIL are back at my house. Nothing is ever plain sailing. I am a dreadful patient but so impressed with this new practice. We set off at 6:30am, left the door open for the plumber
Btw, bought bathroom stuff and a new car!!!!!! As you do.Vx:17 -
@Madbat60 Keep in mind that this thread is not a chore to be added to your list! Read as you have time and energy, but feel free to skip parts! I often skip 5 pages, just because there is too much going on. MrsS-D's cheerleading posts are good for catching up.

Well last Friday was a day of doing a task that was a bit unexpected. Whilst awaiting (excitedly - me) for the delivery of new water butt I ended up scrubbing the Yorkshire stone flags (DH choice!) that had started to become slippy. Doesn't help that the dogs run round madly and get mud everywhere. DH decluttered some bicarbonate of soda from his workshop as it had been in there some time. Oh my what a revelation - you learn something new every day. Cleaned the flags lovely with the deck scrubbing brush. Using it on the concrete flags didn't seem very successful at the time - the bristles were wearing out with each brush stroke! Turns out it did break down the green algae on the base panels too. Bonus was killing the weeds between the nicks too. Can't do much more now as need a new brush
Win win again shopping from home and a great result.
Decluttered a box of the dementia sweets for mother from the boot of my car to my sisters house - it's loaded ready with items to be dropped off in various places. (stops me from shopping too as no space) Actually inherited 3 very large bags of wood off cuts for the fire at our house. More shopping from home type event. Each had to be safely secured with the seat belts. So they will be moved into our wood store today.
Off to home town where son lives tomorrow and there is 3 bags of stuff for there house, hopefully nothing comes back this way.
Take care all

Need to have a look in the garden to see what has happened to the tool shed as it appears to have decluttered a portion of its roof. I suspect it will be a case of wind damage over the last week or two which may mean the rain will have leaked in. So this is a good excuse to see what actually is in there and if we can get rid of anything. I think the last time I opened the tool shed door was at least 2 summers back so obviously nothing I need urgently. Then do we repair or rip down? Personally I'm thinking repair as it's a perfect sunning spot for the neighbourhood cats. (not the best excuse in the world but I do find them entertaining especially since we decluttered our elderly feline nearly 2 years back) And if we repair do I ask the gardening lads (they also fixed our fence so are outdoor handy) or do I insult the neighbour who is a retired roofer?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Everyone doing so well on working through their frogs and clutter, it gives me so much inspiration including the ‘failures’. For some reason my brain seems to think that time, money and energy are limitless and everything I need to do can be done easily. Real life is somewhat different! 🤣
But, I’m managing to catch up on the thread every few days and as my (apparently ADHD style) brain jumps about onto whatever is in front of me at the moment, things are randomly getting done.
A comping question @GrannyKate, when I left the UK I used to be on a website which I think was UK Competitions – bright yellow and you logged in with an e-mail address. I can’t seem to find it. Do you know if it still exists or has migrated to something else?
On the decluttering front, bin-bags are being filled – mainly stationery at the moment as I am a collector, so was my dad who’s stuff I brought over with me and I also had a mobile office for working on festivals. I’m not dragging all that back to the UK!! Pens have been tested; dried out ones into the bin-bag, good ones into a very small pile for me and the rest for the charity shop.
A decision has been made as to which table I’m taking back to the UK as my computer table and the other one has been cleaned and photographed ready to go onto the local selling site.
The washing/ironing from my trip has been done and put away and the rest of the day will be spent making enough space in the kitchen for the chimney sweep to be able to clean the chimney and the wood-burning cooker tomorrow and give me the certificate I have to submit for the house sale.
So I’m hoping that it’s going to be a very positive day as the grass has already grown enough in the last 3 days to require cutting again and that’s a 2-3 day job without cutting the hay fields, which should also be done now if I want to get ahead of the hares leaving their leverets around. RL never stops! 🤣🤣

MMiM 5 - old washing line taken down before it snaps while fully loaded; new washing line retrieved from kitchen drawer and put up.
Towels and tea towels are now pegged out. It must be Spring 🌱⚘

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off -
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
So much for getting up “raring to go” even though the sun is shining in a blue sky 😔 It is still rather chilly 🥶 I managed to be up & dressed just before noon & I have my first cuppa & have caught up reading other threads. Currently waiting for inspiration to strike 🤞
You are very welcome florianatwobob 😊 I am not surprised that your 2023 intentions were ‘lost in the mists of time’ 😅 - EDT has been moving so fast it has been more like the train in Back To The Future III 😅 I am taking the liberty of quoting your original post “After much consideration I have decided my inspirational word for 2023 is (cue drumroll)………. STREAMLINE.
Streamline includes, streamlining me and the house!
Post Christmas I am now well stocked up on smellies etc so I won’t even need to think about buying any for the foreseeable!
This year I have removed 13 books from the TBR pile (let’s not talk about the number that have been added).
Areas to tackle this year are
1) The Storage Shed which is closely tied to……
2) The Front Room (which needs to be replastered as the plaster there is also 90 years old and standing up from habit).
3) The cupboard under the stairs (a mini room of doom).
I’m also on a mission to keep on top of the kitchen stock rotation. Reduce food waste (again) and continue to minimise waste to landfill.
Back to my Reduce, Reuse, Recycle mantra from pre pandemic times and reminding myself to Use it Up, Wear it Out, Make it Do or Do Without. That said I’ve got a T-shirt that needs cutting up for rags!”
It is such a shame that my decluttering isn’t as organised as my cheerleading 🤣
Sorry to hear about the abscess vulpix 😣 Although I should say that your new dentist is marvellous as you have managed to get an appointment so quickly 🥳 How exciting - a new car. I do understand your “as you do” comment 😉
Well said Siebrie 👏 The Decluttering Thread should never become a chore 🤞
Thank you for the lovely compliment 😊
Love the ‘shopping from home’ successes 2Scratters 👏 Your success in cleaning your patio has earned you a Gold Star ⭐️ & is a timely reminder that DH & I need to clean our patio asap 😔 I also love your solution to avoiding the temptation to buy ‘stuff’ by keeping the car full of items to be dropped off 👏
Brie, letting cats sun themselves sounds like a good enough reason to repair the tool shed roof 😉 and by the sounds of it you will be able to declutter a lot of stuff when you empty it out 👏 How great to have a choice of who can repair the shed roof 😊
dND, well that is disappointing 😉 My brain is obviously a twin of yours as I found myself in full agreement with your comment “For some reason my brain seems to think that time, money and energy are limitless and everything I need to do can be done easily. Real life is somewhat different! 🤣” Nothing wrong with random decluttering especially as you are still awaiting completion date 😉 Once you have that you will be in a better position to organise your decluttering approach 😊 Good luck with keeping the hare population away by mowing 😉🍀
roundtuit, MMiM 5 can also be counted as AAiA (Active Action in April) 😊 A win, win, win - old washing line decluttered, space in a drawer & avoidance of accidental dirtying of newly washed clothing 🥳
14:00 DH is currently strimming the front lawn 🙂 I will post this, change into suitable & warm gardening attire & join him.

Sunny but chilly here.
Took Mr F out - went to the post office - needed to post Birthday cards - they were queuing out the door.
Had to visit the bank and took 2 bags of stuff to the charity shop.
Came home to find a lovely bunch of Tulips in the porch.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
