Florenceem said:No SA today - our leaders are on holiday for a couple of days to celebrate a special Birthday.
I was asked yesterday if I can bake chocolate sponge for Wednesday's lunch club - need to make enough to serve with chocolate custard to feed 50.
Our SA only has one of those big rubbish bins with a lid - commercial sort. Until Mr F took on the recycling - all apart from clothes/fabrics/old bedding went in that bin. Clothes etc that are not usable/needed are recycled and we get an amount per bag. It is just that we are having a big sort out upstairs of stock that I have disposed of books. We only have so much storage space.

Loved going to the Oxfam bookshop in Oxford on many trips to England. There are also a lot of bookstores in Hay that might take books. Usually the books I am looking for are the ones being thrown out. I've rescued quite a number, especially old books on home economics and other how-to books. If a book isn't already on the sites that have old books available for free, maybe they would be interested to add them to their collections.
Busy morning today. Up and fed the animals, including cooking hamburger for the dog. Did two loads of laundry. Put out a sweater that was too large, but was nice and soft and warm for the cat who lives on our front porch. She was born here 8 years ago. Her brother cat lives across the street but comes over here to eat with his sister cat. They are the last of our feral colony which at one time numbered 23. We had a neighbor with a feral cat colony back in the 1990s. She moved and my father took over. I've arranged for thirty-six cats (as additional ones were born before we could get all of them caught) to be spayed or neutered over the last twenty-five years.
Called to arrange a time with the county for when they will come on Wednesday to spray for citrus bugs. We have no citrus trees here anymore (my father killed my lime bush when he painted the house back in 1996!). they still have to check, so dog has to come in. So Wednesday is going to be tricky - Dog in, check of yard, dog out, class on Zoom, then to physical therapy by 10:00 am.
To physical therapy today. Still can't raise my arm too well but most of the pain it gone. Been doing the exercises at home too. Therapist brought in some books for our book sale. Then picked up magazines at a friend's house for the library to sell. Went and bought dog bones for husky (roommate gave the me the money for it!). Got home before it rained again. Rain to end today for awhile - but the winds are coming instead. Got today's trash out as tomorrow is pick up day. Two more boxes and three more bags.
@roundtuit - When I look around this house, it always look like a House of Doom rather than just a Room of Doom. Plus a front and backyard of doom too. And sometimes my screams aren't silent either.20 -
Morning all , thanks for keeping me motivated with all your tales of decluttering.😀
I’ve listed yet more things on olio, vinted and gumtree…so fingers crossed for more sales & giveaways this week. And I think this week I must take a bag of stuff to the charity shop, I keep procrastinating over doing it. So hence writing it here to make myself accountable! I’ll use it as a reason to get out for a walk on Thursday or Friday- Actually, I need to up my steps to declutter some winter weight from round my middle, so perhaps I could go crazy and try and take a bag both days?? 😉During the decluttering process over the last few days I’ve found some new, unused items that I can use as presents for birthdays so I’ve put them in the drawer under my bed and made a list in my planner of what’s there and who I’m giving it to. So that will save some money and time going round the shops in the coming months.🥳
Really enjoying my photography course , so I thought I’d share a picture I took that I’m really pleased with. Not decluttering related, so hope that’s ok.🤞Decluttering update…2x broken picture framesDrum sold on gumtreeJigsaw sold on vintedPackaging reused to send parcel19 x documents shredded - use for chicken bedding2 X placematsJigsaw given away on olioCardboard into compost binBroken extractor fanFaulty charging cable2x scooters sold on gumtree3x empty shoe boxes - recycling3 old cushions damp so had to binReused wood to make shelf in loftYogurt maker given away on olioAirbed given away on olio3 v manky looking bananas made into cakeUnwanted Coupons given away on olioStarted insulating the loft 🐸

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Re search, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Not sure why it has taken so long but one frog dealt with - completed the Swap Out form for 200 1st Class stamps & am posting today 🥳 Fingers crossed I get my new stamps quickly 🤞Went out @ 12:40, bus to Canary Wharf - banked cheques (PB wins), then posted birthday cards, competitions entry form AND the Swap Out form 🎉 Round trip of 40 minutes. DH has gone to M’s & DSis is in the bath. I have a drink & did a quick check on my yarn stash. Selected a few colours for knitting beanies & scarves 🙂 I have started knitting beanie no.4 DH was out about 4 hours including a trip to the sm. M managed the walk to & from the pharmacy 👏 She is currently decluttering as she took bags & bags of stuff from her mum’s house & was in the process of sorting them when she became ill. DH loaded the bike up with several broken electrical items for the Tip & we will add ours. Dinner was omelettes - ham, cheese & mushrooms for DSis with added cooked peppers for DH & me. Wudupa. Beanie no.4 is about half done.

Welcome aboard the EDT Neroli2 👋 Lovely to see a new face & well done on being brave & coming out of lurkdom 👏 Sorry to hear that your mum was admitted to hospital - a very worrying time for you 😔Sending lots of good wishes & positive thoughts. Although your 2023 decluttering plans have been derailed, I am very impressed with your mantra “Anything is better than Nothing” & also your adoption of the 23 minute strategy 👏 Sounds like you pretty much have no visible clutter rather it is the invisible clutter - the stuff tucked away in cupboards, drawers etc that you are working on. Excellent decluttering so far 👏 & having sorted a stack of paperwork you have the pleasure of shredding to look forward to 😉
Excellent work rooting through the cupboard of doom, joanie 👏
Yippee to all the furniture being picked up QueenJess 🎉🥳 Well done on inspiring your DH to declutter 👏
Wow GrannyKate - 3 generations of declutterers 🥳 Great work by you, DS2 & DGD4 👏 Good luck with your procedure on Thursday 🍀
Great decluttering MuddyWalker 👏 I will take a Welsh cwtch 🤗 Sounds like a lovely visit with your & her 2 year old lab 😊
Well done on rescuing some of the surplus books from SA bins, Florenceem 👏
Her loss Floss 😉 Good luck with the walking gear 🍀As to the coats - not bottled just awaiting decluttering inspiration 😉
A crowded naughty step Dfw38 😉 Brownie points to DH for offering to pay for paint etc for your decorating project 😊 I have checked out all the colours & rather like the dusted fondant colour & the Nordic sky 😉 Great work sorting the tallboys 👏
Brie, I agree Norwich skies were definitely greyer than Nordic sky 😂
Millie2008_2, rather liked the pun ‘ice warm café’ Good decluttering 👏
Thanks for the cake 🍰 & champagne 🍾, Soontobeoap 👏 The diet will just have to wait 😉
I have managed to catch up a little 😉 but will try harder 😉

Morning all! That is a lovely photo @donna73 you are very talented, I always planned to do a photography course when I left college (was going to enrol but never got round to it).
Dh has taken an oil filler radiator to work for one of the fellas that works there so that is a win! Box 8 has been bagged up and will be taken to cs today. Yesterday I went and got the last of the decorating supplies and also got ds a new duvet cover. He only had 1(washed and dried the same day) used by all 3 dc now but as the washing has increased because there are 5 of us I really thought I should pick up another one. Ds loves it (has cars and trucks on...) and I only paid £5.30 for it in the Sainsbobs sale so I am happy with that!
Today I am off to rhyme time with ds, then will take the bags to cs that are in car boot. Need to fit in a tip trip today (garden rubbish, luckily we don't need to book ahead) try and fill 2 boxes of clutter and a 4 mile walk....
Happy decluttering day and enjoy the last day of January!2024 decluttering Campaign

Thanks @Dfw38 it’s a short free online course I’m doing , using my phone, I had a link via O2. It’s fun to be doing something kind of frivolous and just for me. And it’s making me notice things around me. Enjoy your walk !Word for 2023 …PROACTIVE 🧡 2023 -decluttering campaign 1020/2023 ⭐️⭐️Saving towards paying off car in November…£720/£1500 🚗18

Lovely picture @donna73 - definitely allowed as it is decluttering your brain in that lovely fresh air. I love to be at the coast even in winter. @brie - my Sue Ryder CS take electricals - I took some this week that have failed to sell online. Hall walls should be painted today - I have taken all the pictures, coat hooks and the mirror down - tops of them were all covered in thick dust. I'll clean them all today so they can go back up. Sorted some paperwork but didn't get to do any of the related jobs. Unplanned trip across the bridge to Hull area last night to pick up new work van with DS2. Non exciting diet until Thursday - baked cod last night which was actually quite nice although very bland.
176 Pac-a-mac went in CS bag - there were 4 here at one point - now down to just one which fits me
177 Sent email to contractors about payment towards electricity for dehumidifier
178 Sorted and filed/recycled random papers in the study
179 Found notebook I was looking for and took large one I had been using apart. Cardboard cover and used pages recycled and clean paper to scrap drawer.
I need to distract myself from feeling hungry today. Most of the things I can eat are not very filling.
