2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD

Not much decluttering planned for this weekend. Maybe some digital decluttering while switching my password manager - deleting old accounts for websites and apps I no longer use. If I can get moving I might be able to get some of the books to the charity shop but we'll see.
My mother was pet sitting for me this week and knows all too well about my minimalist ways - she spotted that I'd stuck one of duplicate plants in a cupboard and asked me if I was planning to get rid of it (I was) and if she could take it from me instead - so that was easy! I try not to offload my possessions on her because she does have a tendency to mild hoarding but I wasn't going to begrudge her the plant if she wanted it.2023 Mortgage-Free Wannabe #19: £11,675.68/£13,000

Just heard from my brother who has my nephew helping emptying my dad's loft, not empty yet but they've brought down 15 boxes of books (luckily typed lists of books in each - many science as my dad was a physicist and already have shelves of books and I've brought some home already), 1960s portable hooded hairdryer, lots of science equipment from 50s- 80s, baby bath (60s), curtain rails, carpets and other assorted things including furniture!!! oh and expanding suitcases
All hastening me to the CS with some of my hoard and posting things for sale and give away....
And DB I think at the sight of everything has decided he only wants a couple of things leaving me the scope to cram my house with nostalgia ...19 -
Floss, with reference to your friend you have done the right thing. You have moved on. I can only imagine she is so embarrassed and guilt ridden that she cannot face you. It seems like she wants no reminders of her old life. Hard. I have been the ghost and the ghostee. Hard from both sides. Take comfort from the knowledge that it is not the result of any action of yours. Xxxx Vx:19

I started to feel a bit poorly yesterday - a touch of Cystitis. I had in my diary for this morning - to help sort out stock upstairs at SA ready for next month's table top sale. I went along - it was hard work - my back started to be really painful so I had a sit down. I managed to stay the course but - came home with 3 books. Yes - again - part of a series for two of them so I have ordered another 4 books. I will visit the library - not been for ages.
Mr F fell over yesterday when he was walking to our local Asd. - has sprained his ankle - opposite one to last time.
Re Mr F's thoughts on my book buying - he is fine - knows how much I read - one year - 2019 - I read 148 books - in 2020 - I read 216 Books - only 111 books read in 2021 - I haven't totalled 2022 yet. Since the start of 2023 - I have read only 9 books - I do spend a lot of time working at SA.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hi all,
@Vulpix, there is a doll and teddy hospital in Liverpool, sorry I can't give you the link as they don't seem to have a website. Their phone number is 0151 733 6806. I have never used them so I can't say if they can do what you need but it might be worth a phone call. If they can't do it they will probably know someone who can
@Floss I think I would be a bit worried about that friend, however if you are sure she is ok you have done the right thing
@joanie
So it has been raining so no wood moved. I started watching some footie but decided to tackle my emails, filed about 7 in the apprpriate files then started deleting. I have thousands to go through but working on the premise that they will never be cleared if I don't make a start so
223 - 249 2600 emails deleted, as I said it's a start
Off for a coffee now but I will try to get some more done later
Take care everyone

Gettingthrifty- I so understand your post and commiserate. I had a nasty person to deal with this week who did a similar thing as yourself and I did the same as you except cried my eyes out. I truly don’t understand why people are like that - I mean why? Does it make them feel better? Were they bullied when younger? Turns out this person is under a lot of stress and took it out on me……but still, should never happen.
I personally think that those of us who are decent people are seen as an easy target to manipulate and demean and quite possibly seen as some form of a threat ie “I’m failing at xyz so I’m going to make sure you fail at “abc”.
hold your head up high, stand up straight and remember we all love you dearly.

Another one struggling a bit to keep up (brain fog, hopefully it'll lift soon
) but it sounds like there's some excellent work going on
Hugs to those in need, esp @Dfw38, @vulpix
I had my first jab yesterday- the Physicians Assistant likened it to a bee sting, but it wasn't bad at all- thank you for the reassurance @Liverpool_Anne I have 3 more jabs next week, then 2 the week after. The PA thinks I'll be on them for life, but I don't mind
Mum then took me out to Dunelm, where we had an early lunch and Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's were reducing their meat and fish with a use by date of yesterday, by 75%. We got taste the difference pork joints for £2odd, 24 meatballs for £1.24, 6 sea bass fillets for £2 odd, organic king prawns for £1.24, salmon filets for £1.20, cumberland sausages for 54p and organic chicken for £2.50
There was soooo much stuff. I kept popping back and had a nice chat with the staff member who was reducing
The freezer is now clutteredand that's us fed for a good while!
A few things to check in with:
135. Some little cakes I found in the cupboard- stables
136. I cleaned our bedroom and bathroom and emptied bins
137.China cup- destined for CS
138. FIL's china mug- ditto
139. Some slightly OOD, but sealed flavoured tea bags, I offered them to my friend and she gladly took them
140. Some random snacks- destined for OH's office on Monday
141. Some bizarrely flavoured hot chocolate sachets- ditto17 -
Phew!Today was the first day of decluttering & packing, as ex was out of the house for the afternoon. Decided to start in my art studio, as that by far has the most stuff in, and the most stuff to downsize.
3.5 hours later, and I’ve got through about 2/3rds of the room.
I put 3 bin liners of rubbish in the black bin, and took 5 more bin liners of rubbish to the dump. Dropped 3 bin liners of bric-a-brac off at the charity shop. There’s 5 bin liners of fabric, 1 of wool, and 4 storage boxes of art, craft, and sewing supplies all in the back of my car, to be listed on our local free page.
I packed 2 bin liners of fabric that I want to keep (or at least go over again at the new house), and filled most of 1 medium-sized box with the supplies I want to keep.
Not bad going!
I am exhausted though, I forgot how physically and mentally tiring it is to mass-declutter when packing.Getting rid of things is so exhausting, on so many levels, never mind also factoring in having to do it because of a break up and a house move.
I’m focusing on the future, though. My mortgage application was accepted, and the mortgage valuation is scheduled for Monday.
