They certainly do lean towards those colours @Liverpool_Anne! Dd originally wanted 'trumpet' by lillttle greene.... I said to my dh she was born in the wrong era... she would have loved the neons of 1970's and 80s!
I was thinking more denim drift, mint macaroon or at a push Nordic sky or vanilla sundae (which is a light yellow). Really want something that will be still suitable when they are entering the teen years because we are hoping to sell this house in about 6 years (depending on mortgages, house prices etc) and I think kiwi crush will be a short lived obsession! I have offered to paint any furniture we get (2nd hand from cs) any colour they want.... watch this space! They also have a wallpaper mural that will be going up of a pine forest as the woods are one of their favourite places to go to. 2nd dd doesn't do negotiations...think her future career is a world dictator...I mean world leader..... 🤣2024 decluttering Campaign

Welcome Nu1isit?A huge frog or rather a tree , has finally been heaved into the ground from a large pot, been wanting to do it for years, and since son in law moved the large shrub from the spot I wanted to put it in , I was motivated today to make the hole bigger and do the grunt work!!Tidied the rest of the bed and put the bulbs back in .
may need a lie down in TLC carriage to rest up my poor back.
On the subject of using things that have been kept for best, I started to do that when I decluttered a few years back. Life is short and why use or wear something inferior when you can use or wear something that gives you pleasure. We are worth the best so use it. 🤩Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.16 -
wort - will see you in the TLC carriage - my back is hurting after some decluttering/cleaning this morning.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Tuesday is slightly warmer but rather dark outside. DH woke me up at 11:30 a.m. & I was up, washed & dressed before 12:00 - not great bearing in mind my target of 9:00 a.m. 😉 DH had made my first cuppa 😊 He is out again today, leaving at 1:00 p.m. continuing his public transport Rally & then on to a friends book signing for 7 p.m. The friend J has self-published a book about the company’s Cricket Club - A History of the Ibis CC - who once turned down W.G. Grace as he didn’t work for the Prudential 😂 Meanwhile we are expecting a delivery so I might not get out to the CS 😞 but seeing as one of the items is a digital scale to replace the one that broke last night I shouldn’t begrudge having to wait in 😅 Oh well I have plenty to do even though I had set my heart on dropping off donations & buying the next batch of birthday cards 😔
So straight into cheerleading:-
Dfw38, really just the the open plan living room/dining room needs decorating this time round 😉 However I would require your services again once we renovate the bathroom 😅 I might even be tempted to get the baking tins out 😊 Hedgehog badges are sounding better & better 🥲 The chat with DD’s teacher sounds like a success. Fingers crossed that the plan of action is a success 🤞 I did look at ‘kiwi crush’ paint colour - I think it might give your eldest a headache 🤣
Baxtersmum, somehow January always feels like both the longest AND shortest month to me 🤔 Well done on finally finding your perfect vase & not going down the “it will do” route of buying 👏 The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning seems to have worked wonders for you 🙂 Also thank you mentioning that success breeds success or in your case an easier decluttering journey 👏
Sorry to hear that you felt very under the weather EnergyShifter ☹️ but pleased that time spent in the TLC Carriage has led to you feeling almost human again 😊
Keiths_Mum, what a way to feel special every day by using crystal glasses 😊 I hope you have the napkins & fancy crockery as well 😉 Congratulations on starting box 6 of your paperwork 👏
Sorry you weren’t able to persuade your mum to use ‘all those beautiful items’, Brie 😔 All I have now of the “for best” is 3 remaining (of 6) beautiful champagne flutes which were a gift from the chaps in the Cricket Team that I used to do the scoring for. They are used every Christmas, very carefully washed & dried & then returned to the display cabinet 😊
Excellent use of your 23 minutes DundeeDoll 👏 Hope you get a chance to recharge your Life batteries 🤞
Gromit38 - never too late to join this particular party 😊 Welcome aboard the EDT 👋 Well done on your excellent start in finding us and setting yourself a target 👏 Maybe your kids can join you on your decluttering journey 😉 I am looking forward to hearing about your successful decluttering 😊
Lovely cheerleading post TC77 😊 Well done on decluttering a couple of frogs 👏
Excellent work returning unwanted items, stellata 👏 & well done for tackling the shed when suitably dressed 😉
Excellent cheerleading Liverpool_Anne 👏 Love the “TARDIS” reference 😊 Sounds like Monday was a day full of pleasures 😊 Also very impressed at how much decluttering you have managed 👏 Hmm, ‘kind’ neighbour indeed 🤔 Do you have a purpose for this unexpected bonus of wood?
I was exhausted reading about how much decluttering you have managed, mhagster - excellent work 👏 Re the ‘great big cane toad of a frog’ - painting 7 door frames, that has earned you a Gold Star ⭐️ Very amused that you cleaned your oven rather than start the painting 😂 When I put things off I knit 😉
You definitely need some time off TC77 - you can do without dreams/nightmares about work 😥 My upset with the bank was precisely because they have been so outstanding in the past 😔 just so unusual that the staff really weren’t listening to my concerns & suddenly became like every other bank just reading off a sheet of paper ☹️ For those items that you are not sure anyone wants, perhaps you could leave them outside in front of your house - although only useful if you have lots of footfall past your home 😉 Our house is in a cul-de-sac so I have never been able to use this method ☹️
Sounds like all the discussion of paint colours for the hallway has concentrated your thoughts GrannyKate & helped you decide on your colour scheme 🙂 Definitely called ‘levelling stuff’ 😉 Hopefully this won’t cause too much delay in laying the new kitchen floor 🤞 Excellent decluttering especially of painful frogs 👏 so I am awarding you your own medal 🏅😊 Good luck on your quest to track down the ‘energy guzzling’ appliance 🍀
Floss, I have a feeling that FD have had to recruit extra people after their abortive attempt to persuade everyone to go digital since the Covid pandemic 😔 As you say common sense seems to have gone out of the window 😔 FD need to remember that customer service is & always has been the cornerstone of their success 😊
Excellent decluttering wort 👏 Fingers crossed that all the tidying decluttering etc that you did at work will still be evident when you return 🤞 You are correct that Stacey is back tomorrow BBC1 @ 9:00 p.m.
Just received various parcels that DH ordered so will sign off for a while & sort them out. Plus I will have some soup now that it is warmed through 🙂
Have a good day everyone 🙂

Mrs SD I was inspired by your encouraging words to fish a couple of camping items out of the shed and give them away. They weren't improving in there and I'll not go camping again, I used to go with Ex but he's too old now and anyway...Ex.Magnolia Stellata17

Dear all
Cant thank you all enough for the words of wisdom the positivity and support on here. It wouldn't be possible without Mrs SD's fabulous cheerleading! You see I am managing to gain momentum, and although I tick away slowly at this I am making progress. I realise that there are items that need to go but are too painful to address. Am hoping that as i get a few success' under my belt and get better at this i will eventually be able to deal with them.
Yesterday I reviewed my frog list and finally admitted there are three items on that list that i have been transferring from one to do list to another for YEARS that is the truth!. So yesterday I decided to do the tiniest action to see if I could move them on . The story in brief I had found a house moving box from years ago containing unspent gift vouchers ( difficult time difficult circumstances) altogether £70 in value. I decided either bin them or just ask the retailers if they would honour them. One definitely yes. second yes if i send them to be exchanged for a gift card and the third send pics and they will review.
72- FROG submitted a yellow card report (been on to do list since 2018 TRUE (hangs head in shame)
73 FROG contacted retailer 1 re unspent vouchers
74_ FROG contacted retailer 2 re unspent voucher
75&76 2 lip balms new but dont help dry lips binned
77- put shredder on kithchen worktop every time i boiled kettle i shredded 23 pieces of paperwork
78 - random envelope in bedroom wardrobe of hospital letter/info sheet/patient labels filed shreded and recycled

Declutter success this afternoon.
....library books returned, about time as I've had them for at least 6 months straight without using them. Not the first time I've had them either - fyi - all "how to" art books. Might have a fine pending on one of the renewals but I'll deal with that the next time I get all the same books out again.
....cleared the coins from the piggy bank and took them to a bank branch with an automatic counting machine £54.26 into my account! Leftovers included 3 half pennies, 1 5pence (why?) and a loonie. (which is what Canadians call the $1 coin, fyi - a $2 coin is, of course, a toonie)
Oh, and helped the OH declutter a pork pie. Glad you spoke to DDs teachers and they have a plan. I hope that this is enough to protect your DD and prevent the bullying.
So busy on thread now. Glad to see some new names and everyone else of course doing their bits.
Yesterday I worked at MiL with DiL 2. She couldn't do much with a baby with her but she managed to clean the 'fridge. and sort a few drawers.
I cleared the last clutter from MiL bedroom, Pulled all the furniture out and all the papers, mags etc from inl laws lounge. There was a lot of it. Put some organisation into the draws they do have in the lounge for their hearing aid batteries and stationary.Anything else has been taken upstairs to be sorted at a later date but it is all in one place now.
Soo last night I cracked the hoarded upstairs of my house. I have to put stuff into the loft tonight. That is packaging and toys for the Grandsons that are too old for them just now. I will record what I have put up there in my book o' boxes.
I have put like with like and boxed up loads of stuff. plus there is a big pile of boxes and bags, maybe ten, with mixed stuff in all in one place.
The hallway to the master bedroom is cleared.
I can walk all the way round the double bed in the spare room but have a few piles to work through in there by tomorrow as I am having a guest overnight. The packaging for the loft is on the childrens bed in the guest room so that will be clear later. The tops of the shelves and wardrobe are clear.
Obviously there is still a lot to do but I have the measure of it now. I can see a lot of stuff being passed on or binned. I have too much of everything and not just a but too much.
Today I am counting one bag out. A bag of books went to the garden centre charity shelf. I am driving down to Southampton on Thursday so hope to drop another bag of books off at the service station which on the A43 which is raising money for MIND.
Hugs to all who need them

I am still working on one side of my craft room.
