Wow so much to catch up on since I last posted Saturday. A whole 10 pages. Hugs to those that need them and hello to anyone joining us.
I'm so sorry Brie, the DH and children are just this second demolishing the last of the buns. I must rethink the topping next time. They were chocolate buns with chocolate icing and a malteaser on the top. The teens are now in fits of hysterics talking about how they all thought they looked like ni??les! Must remember they're getting a bit older now 🙈🤣
Short bird, it's been too long since I left Nottingham, before you're explanation I thought it meant you'd got very sweaty 🙈 I've only moved over the border but about 25 years ago.
We haven't managed much since I last posted. I did finish the pantry, it's currently tidy but no idea how long it will stay like that. Yesterday and today have been 'way too much sitting on the sofa watching TV' days. I did do my CBT this morning but absolutely nothing else today.
213-224 pantry items
225 old bra (wire stabbed me)
226 bag of plaster fallen off boys wall

I think you are right @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, it would be a case of throwing the clean washing at the dds from the doorway - migraine inducing colour!
@vulpix oh no! I did say to dh that all we need is a fuchsia carpet and electric blue curtains..... 🤣
It wasn't supposed to be inspirational @daisy_1571! 🤭
Eldest dd is still adamant, I told her I couldn't possibly let her do that to her sister 🤣
Well done everyone on the continued decluttering. I organised the dcs helmets and kneepads this evening. Struggling to get going today although I did have a lovely 2 hour snuggle this afternoon with ds who fell asleep on me while watching Thomas the tank engine on Netflix.... and I couldn't reach the remote without waking him so... i am all up to date on that programme 🤣.
Got to do a 7 mile walk tomorrow so am going to take the stuff for the cs tomorrow, 4 huge bags for life full! Hopefully this will give me the kick up the bottom to start box 7!2024 decluttering Campaign

After my victory over my tax return earlier today I did a lap of honour and helped DS complete his - which was super-simple as he earned so little in the 21/22 tax year he didn't need to pay tax. Combined with a pretty busy day at work I was absolutely shattered and spent the eve on the sofa.

Stressful couple of days at work has hampered my mind being in a good decluttering space BUT I have discovered first Nick Knowles and tonight Stacey Solomon!! How did I not know about these programmes before?! Thank you for introducing me - I am eking out the SS one as I was just in danger of ploughing through all the available episodes…
Another piece of wizardry (and I really don’t know how @Mrs_Salad_Dodger has managed this, but thank you) is that DH spent a whole afternoon at the weekend sorting through old paperwork. It’s truly a miracle!
Small decluttering progress here since I last caught up has been:
craft stickers and paper ribbons to the cs
2 x art books to the cs. Finally realised that I am not going teach myself to be a watercolour artist. Ever.
file of old receipts.
Another one here in favour of not saving things for best. When we cleared my mum’s house, she had so much that she had saved for best, and it was sad to think that she had never felt able to use / wear it. Every day can be your for-best day.15 -
Hi all, great to see so much happening
@Dfw38, that kiwi crush doesn't look too bad, it might be my screen calming it down, it might be worth trying it on the wall because sometimes they look different when dry and a lot depends on the light.
@wort, I try to use my perfume as often as I remember now rather than save it for best. With clothes I tend to wear things in spurts rediscovering them every so often. I have several jumpers that are over 20 years old that I still love and still look good
@Mrs SD re the wood, it is destined for the log burner or the chimenea, I am a bit of an arsonist. I think I got it because this neighbour saw me gathering logs from the tree that had to be cut down after a massive branch fell across the road after a storm. I do womble wood when I come across it but usually I like to do it when I know I have space for it rather than just pile it all up in the front garden
. It will be sorted soon though
@short_bird birrova cob on is just the same here in Liverpoolthough duckeh made me think of notts immediately even though I have never lived there :smiley
:
So today I have ploughed on with sorting stuff in the lr. More wrapping paper and gift bags been found and sorted, scruffy stuff in the bin / recycling the rest put where it lives. Some cardboard boxes kept for justin recycled. Found 4 books that are now in my tbr pile. I can see a lot more carpet, in fact the only areas that are still cluttered are where OH has piled stuff and I am not sorting that. Inspired by the talk of swapping out stamps I thought I would have a check round all their usual haunts to see how many I had. I was amazed how many I found so thought I'd nip to the post office and get a form and post them off. I visited 4 post offices, the first 3 said they had run out and the last one said " you have to phone this number and they will post it out to you". Popped into the sm for a small shop on the way home. I made a cup of tea and phoned the number, 40 minutes listening to Vivaldi while reading a magazine, but not finished it yetand the form is on its way. So frog not resolved but moved along
. Quick whizz around picking up carp and binning / recycling so
181 frog progressed, counting as it took nearly 2 hours
182 lr recycling bin emptied
183 lr rubbish bin emptied
184 kitchen bin emptied
185 cardboard boxes recycled.
Take care everyone

I painted my office "Honeydew Melon" which looks a lot like kiwi crush. And then we painted the living room that color toned down a bit with white. After I got the white bookcases up and the books on the shelves, it toned down quite a bit.
Busy day on Monday:
Physical Therapy appointment done early, checked out the bookstore at another library (smaller library, bigger bookstore - I am jealous), then had my appointment with my skin doctor who zapped several places which have now blistered up and hurt like crazy, then rushed to the library for the Friends meeting where I was to preside. Had a full house with 5 extra visitors. Delivered the two cards I had made on Sunday - a birthday card and a going away card. Managed to get through the meeting on time - and to get people organizing the back workroom as we had not straightened up on Friday. Got home - cleaned up inside of car to get things into the trash cans and got two large boxes of recycling out of the house and one bag of regular trash also out to the trash cans. Went home and played with the dog and got the house "dog proof" so dog could come in on Tuesday. Worked a couple hours on a book I have been writing forever. Finally made it to bed.
Today had the dog in for a couple of hours while I worked on the computer doing my school work. Spent an hour helping one of the roommates connect his new replacement phone after he broke his other phone. He had thrown away the paperwork and can't remember his pin number. But with the help of the person on the phone, we finally got him up and running. Managed to clean up one box of books - sorted where they need to go. Some are for gifts, some were for roommates, a couple were for me. Worked on the book again for several hours. Then went to Family History Center. Roommate and I are taking turns since we have a class the same night and the teacher is letting us do that as long as we get our homework done. Ended up helping three people at the Center - one with Peruvian research, one with Mexican research, and one with US. Midwest research - simultaneously - moving between the computers. Had fun - but didn't sit down much. One is coming back Thursday for more help learning the program. My ability to read Spanish is improving. One of my goals is to learn to speak Spanish. I made a box with 500 words on cards and am trying to learn those. Next I am trying the on-line programs as my sister's OH is from Mexico City and his sister who speaks very little English lives with them. My neighbors on one side speak Spanish and on the other side Vietnamese. I have a children's dictionary in Vietnamese but I don't think I am ever going to learn that one. There are eight different languages spoken on my street of twenty houses.

I didn't get excited too soon about kitchen floor as when older workman turned up (dad of the other two) he looked at it and said that needs levelling all over. They had to do the bit under the heavy goods like fridge, cooker etc - wait for that to dry and then do main floor in the afternoon. Looking good this morning so guess they are ready to go. Hall and one bathroom floor finished yesterday. Skirting boards should be done today and then decorators coming. I found the bath panel in garage which needs a good clean so I will do that once it is daylight outside. Dishwasher unloaded and filled up - it will be done before they get here today. I will see if I can load before and after photos. The colours I chose were Gazelle (Leyland trade range) for kitchen and Hemp Beige for the hall. Bathroom 1 is Malted mint. The ensuite was only just painted so I have given them the tins of that - we bought enough for bedroom as well but hadn't started when leak appeared. B7Q I think - colour Clontarf.
Went to Iceland to get drinks etc - now gone over my target for January but only by a little. I'll try harder in February. I still got 10% discount but it is changing and you will have to have one of their bonus cards to get the discount - not sure when that starts. I went home and registered the bonus card app on my phone and did Mr A at the same time. Need to do all the others as it will save having to find pesky cards. Did well on PA survey site yesterday as I got a £5 and a £6 one straight after each other so some more cash to download today. I am almost at my earn £100 target from anywhere for January although I did count my £25 PB win.
Todays jobs include making dentist's appointment and doing some paperwork for 2 committees. I am on the last page of my desk note book. Need to find the next one in the stash to use up. It is lurking somewhere in my once tidy study now half filled with toys DGS4 has decided live here.

I'll get dressed before workmen arrive (is that sexist - they are all male). Yesterday I still had dressing gown on when I saw them outside.2025 Decluttering Campaign 697/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

I got rid of all my tatty crockery after a lightbulb moment on here a year or 2 ago, have eaten off nothing but the best ever since. I've now got my ceramic handled cutlery out too, it's been put away because it doesn't go in the dishwasher but really with only me here it's a minutes work to wash it by hand. The handles are sky blue and it's so pretty.I've packed up a set of dinner plates I don't use though as my daughter liked them, so those are ready to go with her next time she visits. In the bathroom I'm diligently using the dregs of bottles of stuff, so today I'm all washed and showered in some "for men" all in one wash which someone left behind and the empty bottle is in the recycling. Small steps. Going out for lunch today with a friend but after work I'm planning an hours decluttering before I sit down.Magnolia Stellata16

Keiths_Mum said:Good to hear everyone's up for using their stuff rather than saving it for best. As a certain House Doctor Ann Maurice would say, if you're not using it, 'it's taking up real estate', and I don't have any spare real estate in my one bedroom flat.
I'm annoyed as the charity shop people didn't take the three cushions yesterday as they didn't have a fire safety label on them. I need to find somewhere else that might take them.2025 GOALS
