@D123456789 just seen your post, last year I fell for the marketing every time. Sainsbobs £18 off your next delivery if you spent £60, what a good deal I thought but they started printing out at till almost all the time. I saved money on the shopping but definitely spent more overall than I needed. Going to do my best not to fall for any sneaky tricks this year.2024 decluttering Campaign

It looks so lovely outside - blue skies & sunshine but it is bitterly cold 🥶 brass monkey weather in fact 😬 Round 2 of cheerleading
Siebrie, you must remember the old adage “Mum knows best” 😢 unfortunately that leads to selective hearing loss & upset 😢 Wandering off at a tangent, I am just wondering if there was ever a time when all clothing companies used the same sizing system 🤨
QueenJess, that is very kind of your Mum to buy all the kids’ clothes 🙂 but it sounds like she doesn’t necessarily consult you as to actual requirements 😔 How does DS wear out his pyjamas 🤔 …….. maybe he sleep plays rather than sleepwalks 😉
Excellent decluttering LadyWithAPlan 👏 Well done on keeping up with the 30/31 day minimalist challenge 👏 - I have never managed to get past Day 4 😉 Keep up the good work 😊
joanie, What a marvellous affirmation of decluttering being worth the effort 🥳👏 I smiled all the way through reading your post 😅 I am just wondering how many of us will be going through our underwear drawer to see if we can find £100 or even just a £1 🤣
Excellent decluttering Millie2008_2 👏 Sorry to hear about OH but well done on being able to mobilise your Mum to doing pick-up duty 🙂
Excellent work sorting out the photographs Soontobeoap 👏 As to the cards etc nothing wrong with going through them & reminiscing especially as you only have one box 😊 I did smile at your mention of DH not understanding the concept of ‘happy tears’, my DH doesn’t seem to understand either 😉 What a wonderful event for your granddaughter - a published poet at age 7 🥳 Good luck with sourcing a copy of the book 🍀 Crossing everything that maybe a copy has been set aside as a present for your birthday 🤞
Great work decluttering tasks EnergyShifter 👏
Dfw38, at least you now know the results of your scan. Sorry to hear that the NHS is so busy that you might have to wait up to 41 weeks for an appointment with a different department 😔 Please, please try to resist the urge to Google 🙏🙏 Excellent work sorting out the pantry come under stairs cupboard 👏
Florenceem, sorry to hear about your friend 😔 Nothing wrong with moving stuff around when you know what you are aiming for 👏
2nd page of cheerleading done 🙂 Will take a short break to deal with todays mail & will be back again soon to continue 🤞

I can't remember what I said on here last time, but I have finally arranged the furniture to be picked up next week to the charity shop. The volunteer on the phone just now said they were very busy and that was why there was such a wait. They are picking it all up on Tuesday and that is when my house is being painted so at least the furniture will be out of his way.
I dropped off a donation bag yesterday (a small bag with just a coat and two skirts) to a local shop and the assistant asked me to take it to the volunteers at the back of the shop. Wow, the place was piled high with donations. It seems like a lot of people are like us and doing lots of decluttering in the New Year! I asked them if they needed plates as I have just bought a second hand dinner set and I'm getting rid of all my old mismatched plates. They said they had enough plates at the moment so I will take them to a different shop this week or next week. I was going to try a shop today, but it looks so cold and frosty out there that I didn't feel like doing a lot of walking!17 -
More decluttering this morning. I'm continuing doing DD's room and doing 5 or 10 mins at a time so it doesn't get overwhelming. I went through current sized clothes quickly, rearranged them so they are in the right space for the potential end furniture solution and sorted out toys in there (most are downstairs). I didn't move her bed around as I think it's too disruptive right before I'm going to be out at work for a very long day and I don't want to unsettle her for that.I still need to investigate kids coats, more books, shoes, rebox the bigger size clothes for the attic and send a small pile of toys for rotation in the attic (and possibly investigate if we want the boxes of toys that are up there). May do some of that later if I feel up to it. Happy with progress today and at least it is looking a bit better everyday. Plus with people taking stuff away I get to use up some of the packaging in the rammed cupboard. With that and removing the larger clothes from there, at least progress is being made in the cupboard so I can tackle it further at a later date.517-519 - kids toys (buy nothing)520-534 - kids clothes (school charity bag)535 - plastic bag (used)536 - broken toy (bin)537-538 - paper (recycled)2025 decluttering: 4,011 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Small victories ......
2 more boxes of Christmas decorations have finally been shifted upstairs. Once everything is up there I can load the loft space with the OH passing things along. Much easier with 2 but we've both too slowly recovering from lurgy to do anything much too much. I did have the gardeners here yesterday intending to get them to get all the bulbs in (decluttering the green house) but the ground was too frozen for any digging so I was inspired to ask them to get the decorations down from the eaves instead - working on the principle that sexist OH doesn't like me climbing ladders and he's too wobbly still to go up one even with me steadying it (frankly if he fell and landed on me I'd probably be killed!!). So the answer was to get the tall, fit young men to do it instead if only because they'd take a fraction of the time and if they fell they'd bounce easier than either of us. Just now need to get the OH to decide if outside decs go into the loft or the garage.
Hot water bottle to go into the car to take to work at the food bank tomorrow. Gift for Christmas from silly friend that will be better appreciated by one of the FB clients.
Wondering too about binning some of my worst paintings I've done. They don't take up much space and I wonder if I should kept for the sense of progress but they're also embarrassingly bad. Maybe I can offer them to the gads by burning them in the chiminera in the garden before binning that too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Slow start to the day but off to declutter my blood tests, drop off samples and get a few bits at Mr T.
121 23 minutes frog was cleaning all the boots from the weekend at horse yard - been putting it off. They will need more work but looking a lot better. Glad I hadn't dressed as turned garden hose on and water sprayed everywhere as spray fitting had completely split.
Off to get dressed now its only 12.25!

Mrs SD, the time scale for the repairs is 5 months I think. We have had letters but I recycle them! At various points there will be a variation of pedestrian access, single traffic with temporary lights and full closure. Trains stop miles away as that is the only option for turning round. Buses are all over the place. Interesting times.
What a fabulous uncle Mr SD is. I would like to send him a medal🥇. Great work on the office too.I did watch a few Nick Knowles programmes whilst I was renovating the bookshelf. I enjoyed it, those people are so lucky to return home to a renovated home too. One even had a new kitchen!
I read every post honest. I have no recollection of wax recycling. I googled and got nowhere. Can you please tell me the information again? I threw masses of wax away last year when I used up my candle stash. Oh btw, went to Aldi last night and the assistant was just reducing a set of 3 scented candles to 99p. Good sizes too.I need to stop cat snuggling and do something.Vx:18 -
Box 5 filled and emptied:
Hairband
Baseball bat
Toy plane
Jumper (most unflattering shape on me)
Jumper dress (wore yesterday but decided it is not practical enough for me)
2x throws - don't like the colour
3x books
2x kids jumpers
1x kids joggers
1x kids top
Teddy
3x kids paint tubs (duplicate)
1x instrument soft case (replaced with hard case to ensure dd doesn't destroy instrument when transporting)
7x kids toys
All the above to charity shop - will be taken tomorrow and combined with a 6 mile 😬 walk.
1x cushion inner binned
5x clothes worm out to fabric recycling- will be taken to tip next week.
Onto box 6 next 👍 Nick Knowles eat your heart out 😆2024 decluttering Campaign

@vulpix cat snuggling counts as the best emotional decluttering. Nights finished, I decluttered a load of photos during a quiet spell last night. I got rid of duplicates and landscape ones, which were just dodgy. Lots of fabulous pics of my boy who is now a great big hairy !!!!!! bloke. I don't know how much decluttering will get done the next couple of days as DP's family are coming down from the frozen North.14

All the talk about inherited possessions really resonants with me, I'm still ploughing through some of my late DM's things from 2021, however I'm slowly managing it by gifting most of it.My late DF didn't leave much when he died in 1997 so his estate was very simple. There's one small item which I really can't let go of even though it's of no monetary value. It's a wee round wooden box which used to hold Yardley's shaving soap which he used every day. On the bottom he wrote 'Bought 2 Dec 58' - I wonder why? Perhaps he wanted to see how long it would last him as he was still in the Army then. For some odd reason I feel very emotionally attached to the box.
