Hi all,
@Millie2008_2, great news about your Mum, now you can take a breath and ......relax
Well the soup didn't get made today as after inspecting the fridge I realised there wasn't enough stuff to make soup that OH would eat but there were other bits of lo that needed using up so lunch sorted.
I wizzed around the house and collected all the bags of plastic container except those in the conservatory of doom and sorted through a gazillion pieces. I had stuff from lockdown that I was going to take into school when I was let out of the house but school had put a ban on stuff coming in so they just got left in the bags all over the place
I also used 1 of those pretend charity bags that come through the letterbox, we get about 3 a week and as I read the small print on them I know which ones are real charity bags. So I estimate about 50 small tubs that were destined for the art room, some larger tubs, and some lids with no tubs. I have stacked the take away containers by size and made sure I have lids for them. I discovered I have 2 types so the lids are not interchangeable. The half a dozen odd ones have been put aside and labelled with a sharpie to be used to microwave beans etc as these stain after a few uses and can then be chucked. The rest I have started washing and drying and stacking. I was going to recycle loads but OH has said put them in a bag as they are useful, don't ask, I will try to sneak some more out when I do the next bag for the tip. I also managed to get into the bag 11 washing pod containers. The bag is now hanging on the door handle, so it will annoy me, to be taken to the tip hopefully tomorrow if the roads are clear. I have also promised ln I will take her old plastic Christmas tree currently lurking in her greenhouse.
So I will say
134 - 135 sorting the plastic and counting it as a frog because it has been on my to do list since last year and it took ages, even though I haven't finished yetthe lr looked like a tip
136 more wood brought in as OH was freezing so lit the fire much earlier than I would. I do hope it's not a snow day tomorrow
After tea I just watched the footie and did some knitting.
Talking of frogs I heard one of our garden frogs singing a couple of night ago, before it got cold so I am hoping he has gone back to somewhere warm with all this snow. We don't have a pond but we have always had frogs in the garden so I have sunk an old washing up bowl into the ground for the eggs and tadpoles and it seems to work. A bigger more permanent thing is also on my to do list, hopefully this year
Take care everyone

It takes a while but I do value reading all the posts and getting lots of ideas as well as appreciating the many different circumstances people are doing their best in. Hugs and 💐 to those in need of them. This particular week of the year is always a difficult one for me so I’m on light duties in the decluttering department and attempting to practise self care.@Blue_Doggy - Thank you, I’m going to be looking up about the Candle recycling as I have been wondering what to do with the many stubs that I have.Declutter Day 16 - I’ve made lots of bookmarks from cutting up the Christmas cards to use in my cookery books. They will be a great help to me when browsing and deciding on recipes for the meals I want to make. Much better than scraps of old envelopes, having to look recipes up in the index, or just plain forgetting what I wanted to make! The backs of the cards went into the recycling bin and the remaining fronts into landfill. Our council collection rejects anything with wrapping paper or Christmas cards in, even if they are recyclable. I finished reading a novel but it hasn’t gone far - just to DH. Various packaging from teas into the recycling. Lots and lots of emails deleted.17

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
A pretty successful Tuesday as far as I was concerned except for the lack of cheerleading 😉 I dealt with my mail; wrote, addressed (& updated my contacts list) for half the birthday cards for the first quarter of the year; finished knitting a 2nd ear-warmer headband; had hm soup for lunch & helped DH continue sorting his office - another 90 minutes 👏 We cleared the last drawer of the plastic movable deep drawer cabinet & also a couple of medium sized boxes. 90 minutes of work - all camera equipment stored in the deep drawer plastic cabinet - another shelf cleared, all stationery items now tidied away including rather a lot of pens, pencils, marker pens, pencil erasers etc. All the bits & pieces that should be in the garage have been corralled into one of the cardboard boxes ready for the garage tidy up when the weather is warmer; more shelves are slightly tidier as also filing away odd bits & pieces re deferred decisions. Decluttered the following - 6 cables, 6 more electronic/computer items, 6 sets of cheap earplugs, 4 plastic bits for Tip or bin & a bag of recycling = 23 It is still a work in progress but we are gradually getting there 😉I cooked chicken escalopes in panko breadcrumbs with oven chips for DSis - she loved it & left DH to cook the last HF meal - pepper, mushroom & chorizo linguine 😋 Wudupa.
Update on M - she has settled back in at home - trying to rest & eat well - DH phoned her. DH will probably visit every couple of days or so just to make sure she is obeying doctors orders 😉
241 - 244 Kitchen recycling, office recycling, drinks cans, newspaper - recycled
245 - 246 Kitchen & lr detritus - binned247 - 268 Office clutter/items for Tip/BinWednesday is cold & frosty - the front garden never cleared yesterday so a double layer of frost 😬 but the sun is out 😉Back shortly to start the cheerleading.MrsSD (a superwoman) 😇 🎖 💐 🤩 🏅🦸 🏅💐

Back again now dressed 🙂
Excellent decluttering of frogs & froglets & your 23 minute task of clearing your handbag, Radish72 👏
vulpix, I can just picture you out cavorting in the snow 💃 nearest emoji I could find 😉 Another of the Lucky Ones seeing a hedgehog 🍀 Cheeky Fomo eating the hog’s food 😂 Very pleased to hear that your Mum is feeling better 😊 A 40 mile round trip detour to get to your mum’s 😓 & of course it will be jam packed with traffic 🙁 Is there an actual timescale? Well done on dealing with the poster frog 👏
Dfw38, if we have a mascot it would be a hedgehog 😊
MadamMim2013, more hedgehogs 🍀 Decluttering of mixed up & muddled emotions definitely counts as well as being classed as TLC 👏
Excellent decluttering of tasks/frogs thriftyscotslass 👏 & keeping up with the day to day decluttering is also a win 👏
Siebrie, thank you for sharing your experience dealing with children’s clothing - a military operation at its best 👏 One medal 🏅 coming your way for taking the time to share with us 👏
‘Lateral decluttering’ Brie - what a marvellous description 😊 If there are only 3 beautiful teacups I applaud your decision to display rather than use 👏 Also well done on reaching such a difficult decision on the baby clothes 🙂
Shame that you have no garden diminua 🙁 Hope your cousin is OK now 🤞 Good decluttering, every item out is a win 👏
Well done on the rearrangement of your DD’s room QueenJess 👏 It also sounds like you are formulating a workable plan re your DD’s clothes 😊 Love the idea of enlisting DH into the decision making process 😉First page of cheerleading done 🥳

Well done with the office sorting Mrs SD.I have steam cleaned the bathroom, I am now going to declutter the only drawer in there, it shouldn’t take too long.I’ve just done a big online shop because they sent me a voucher to use by the weekend.
I must stop 🛑 doing this because I will soon be able to open a shop in my kitchen…. Is it just me or do others fall for this marketing🤦♀️17 -
Mrs salad dodger, a hedgehog as mascot... I could live with that 😊.
Just been having another pass at the clothes and am about to start filling box 5, but first a cup of tea and a biscuit (ds is at nursery for the morning so productivity is crucial!)the sun is out today although it is absolutely freezing out and a little chilly indoors so if I work super quick I won't feel the chill. Hope you are all having a lovely productive day.2024 decluttering Campaign
