@granmanerd ‘What would you need if your house burnt down’ is excellent advice, as is the rest of your post. You’ve given me a lot to think about, thank you.‘When you only have two pennies left in the world, spend one on bread and the other on flowers. Hi, I've not been on for a while as I've mainly been sorting rather than decluttering but I've finally filled a bag to take to the charity shop. It includes
Several pairs of nearly new socks.
Approximately 50 knitting patterns. I've also binned many patterns from magazines and given a pile to a friend who's just recently taken up knitting. Altogether I've been quite brutal and decluttered about 150 patterns. Feeling good about this.
Two Caithness glass ornaments that I bought last year from a charity shop for £6 each. I realised when I got home that they did not go and I had nowhere to put them. A big mistake.
A cat ornament I bought from TKMAX last year - another mistake 😳
I'm also decluttering lots of food as I've only bought milk this year. I've used nearly all my fresh vegetables and all fresh fruit so now using only tinned. I've finished all fresh bread and also pitta and panini from the freezer. I'm using crackers instead and have 1 kilo of bread flour, so I shall be making bread soon. My meals have been very varied and I'm enjoying the challenge of inventing meals from the cupboard and freezer.

I went for it as I decided no SA for me today - I will be there for hours tomorrow and we have a funeral on Thursday so no more decluttering would happen until Friday.
I am at 550 on day 17 as against aim of 153 so done the month's lot of 465. I am going to aim for February's amount which is 375 - am I right about that number?

I took a small bag of mugs and glasses to the charity shop (7 in total) and passed on 1 book to a friend today so still using the little and often method of decluttering. I might need to try and list some bits on the local Freecycle group this week as well to speed the process up.
I'm up to 112/2023 now.18 -
I couldn’t resist a 10 min declutter when I got home from work. Still mainly going through the kids stuff. Trying to be brave and get rid of more than I normally would as we just have too much.
506-515 - kids books (charity/buy nothing)

I’ve been sluggish on the decluttering since the weekend - thank you for my medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, I will wear it with pride 🤩. I certainly find it easier to be motivated when I’m not at work - although I have decluttered a stack of old catalogues and other such rubbish at the office, so something must be sticking in my head.
Today’s small pickings:
1 book, not technically out of the house, but at the door, to be returned to a friend when her birthday card (strategically placed on top of the book) is delivered next week.
1 gardening book to the cs bag. This shelf on the bookcase might yet yield more pickings…
1 dead vase of flowers decluttered to the compost bin, vase washed and the useful length of green ribbon which was around the flowers has been added to my ribbon box stash. I’m not entirely sure that is decluttering, but it is like with like, and I did consider whether the ribbon would actually get used before I kept it, which is an improvement.19 -
@plumduff55 sorting is decluttering as is tidying in my books!18
