3 bed detached bungalow ...last few years my usual gas use was between 8000 to 10,000 kwhs a year with electric use stable at  around 2200 a year.
Since the prices have been rigged I m not standing for it and  buying much less of  their overpriced energy units so since October I ve been cutting right back .
I m on track now for total gas use of 3800 kwh s by the end of March which I consider is the last day of central heating use .
A lesser cut back in electric because I m using more to heat using a halogen heater but still on track to drop down to 1600 kwhs

gas- last year 8000 kwhs , this year 3800 kwhs
electric last year 2200 , this year 1600 kwhs

We are down yoy from 38k kwh to 25k kwh for gas, hoefhlly on track to fall toabout 20k depending o.n how winter temps go.
That’s very impressive. What did you do to get down from 38k kWh?
The 38k was just plain weird, think we had set the thermostat too high as the winter was not cold but we were up from 32k to 38k.

This year are saving on water heating by getting some discipline/thought into usage by the kids and heating we are being a bit colder.  Have to say the house is no longer as inviting as it was last year when it was always toasty but needs must.
    I think....

No savings to be had with our hot water, although the teenager is emptying nearly half a tank with his new shower. He was gathering clothes with the shower running at more than 30l/min!

We are zoning this year and that has really helped (put a lot of effort into new rads and smart trvs). You are absolutely right about the house inviting comment. It’s no longer possible to wander around with every room being warm and toasty. Gone are those days and it sucks.

I’m quite pleased with our use this month.  Gas : approx. 40kwh/ day or £4.40 inc. standing charge.
    Electric : 8-10 kwh / day.  £3.50- £4.00.

  • I have spreadsheets going back 15+ years on my energy usage for the same 2 bed terraced property, which has loft insurance and double glazing. However the back section of the house is poorly insulated and is cold and draughty.

To keep things simpler I'll go back 3 year's which is when it went from 3 down to 2 in the house. The annual usages are from September ber to August as that's when my tariff needs renewing.

    Electricity
    2020 - 1,800 kWh's
    2021 - 1,800
    2022 - 1,200 kWh's

    Gas
    2020 - 8,400 kWh's
    2021 - 9,200
    2022 - 3,100 kWh's

As most on this thread appear to be talking about December gas usages for this year I'll pass on my usages.
    December 2020 gas usage 1,763 kWh's.
    2021 - 565 kWh's.

2022 I penned in to use 600 kwh's hoping it would be a mild like it was in Dec 2021... As we all know we were hit with a nasty cold snap and so far for December I've used 1,006 kWh's with still 3 more day's to go. So looking at 1,030 kWh's if the weather stays mild (which it is forecast to do).

I've penned in 800 kWh's usage for January, and 500 kWh's usage for February so hoping to pull back some kWh's there.
April to October we use 80-100 kWh's every month which is hot water, can't seem to get this any lower.
