Changed my bedding.. drity stuff in the WM's
DW loaded and run.. I think it needs a service visit.. it's sounding a bit grindy.. I did run a clean cycle but that must have dislodged something because it is so much worse.. maybe needing a super hot run to melt the build up of grease.. maybe with my usual concoction of washing up liquid, bleach and salt.. it's a bit suddy but it does the job usually. It's my own fault I found some DW powder in the cupboard and used that for 3 washes.. I know I shouldn't and there is a reason I don't.. it was a momentary lapse of sanity.
new school trousers arrived for Dot.. she is going mad with her ankles out. I got her a green hat for christmas too.. she didn't have one and she loves green.. I am just not arguing. I have got her new gloves too.. I'm not sure she will wear them but we can try.
I have listed 2 of their christmas presents on ebeast.. the stupid cat things and a coat.. I measured it against Pixies previous one and it is just not going to fit her so I have released it to someone who isn't a tall thing.
URGH... school pick up alarm.. it is the disco's tonight and I have roped DS2 in to do 2 of the 4 runs..

Good to hear from you Ionafan. Sorry the recuperation isn't going as smoothly as planned, and I hope it all holds together enough to get you through without too many invitations to a meltdown.Gorgeous girls Pigpen.WM x 1, yesterday's laundry shuffled so that I could get it all outside on the lines and trolley.Half of Layla's results are back, but not the soft tissue results. There's no surgical option suitable and there's a possibility the problem is a tumour on the nerve. Never heard of that one. Every single one of my dogs has had a different set of health problems which all needed different management. She's perfectly happy as long as we can keep dosing her up with paracetemol and gabapentin so she's coping. Yesterday one of the people who shares the garden once again left a gate open so I limped down to shut it, horrified that Layla was hopping along as fast as she could, whisking her tail at the thought of actually going for a walk. Dogs are amazing creatures and I am full of admiration for them.Better is good enough.8

Lovely photo Pigpen.
Well quite a busy day but I've done my last day at uni although still have reports to write.
To my shock, the first 5 miles of my 16 mile journey to uni was minus 10. Eek. Hertford, always busy, was ridiculously gridlocked so, having set off early in case of 'weather', I got to uni 5 mins late, parked in a snowdrift (where estate staff had shovelled the snow - but it was the only space in the car park) and certainly no time to grab a coffee. Student was lovely although very talkative and with lots of 'history' so I was much later finishing than I'd hoped. emailed music academy to say I wasn't going to make my drum lesson. Managed to get car out of snowdrift; started off zero degrees at 2.45 which dropped to minus 4 by the time I got home (via a fairly busy Hertford and an unusually busy other small town). Somehow a lake swim on Saturday isn't seeming appealing. However then things looked up:
- Mr N had coffee ready for me
- we double checked that all cards were written. I sent all ecards and updated our Christmas card list for next year.
- finished and emailed a report.
- got food out of freezer for tonight's dinner and some stewing steak to put in slow cooker tomorrow which will probably do us Saturday as well.
- started soaking oasis for the big star arrangement which goes on our front door. Actually the leftover flowers I have are taking a long time to open as it's so cold, even though they are by the radiator. I'd planned to get a few more to use in the meantime as I went through Mr T to drumming, but clearly that didn't happen. Will see how they look in the next day or so.
- rang friend who has a birthday today and arranged to go round to see her next Tuesday with Christmas present (flower arrangement of course) and card.
- confirmed Monday's coffee date with ex-work colleague friend, which is set to be a busy day starting with zumba then a scary but maybe exciting hair appointment.
- had a chat to my Mum then sent her an e-sympathy card as her friend has just passed; they nursed together and have kept in regular touch. Happily, we visited the lady last month when I was down at Mum's - so glad we didn't leave it until I go down at Christmas; J died fairly suddenly as the result of a fall.
- Mr N had listed, as requested, all the dried fruit we had ready for me to make the Xmas puddings so I reviewed the recipe and made a list which he is taking to drop in to Mr S tomorrow after his gym.
So tomorrow's master plan:
put slow cooker on
do more report writing
clear away Christmas cards as we have done them all so they can make space in the dining room
I think I have a couple more charity 'cards' to type and print where we have donated in lieu of presents.
Sort out presents and review what needs buying/wrapping.
When Mr N gets back from the gym we will decorate the tree; it is up and has working lights.
Make the front door wreath.
If I feel so inclined and if any flowers have opened, I'll do something for church.
Plus anything else which springs to mind. I have a list somewhere, several days old now so will update it.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Spent time in a&e last night as I tripped (possibly over Christmas tree in box but it all happened so fast) and dislocated left arm from shoulder. There was a lot of wincing and swearing and other noises and I graded my pain as ‘9 but I’m stoic’ on a scale from 1-10. But when I was offered morphine I did say ‘yes please anything’… didn’t get it in the end, had to breath gas and air while they massaged and manipulated it back into place. Oh how much less pain I was in when it was back…bliss.
Now have jazzy sling and instructions to rest it.
Once again DD had to bear the load. She is a star.
Quite proud that I worked out what I had done injury wise - they did get me out of triage, x-rayed and into a room because of my ‘active chemo’ within minutes of my arrival.
Oh - put DW on when I got home at 5:30, though I had slept in a&e after it was put back while I was waiting for my ‘after’ X-rays to be reviewed.
This morning I feel fine - it just feels a bit bruised and stupid because it was a silly accident. And I suppose I’m officially ‘old’ now, having ‘had a fall’.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Oh my word, Valli, you take care. I think many of us are moving from the age of “falling” to “having a fall”…Gold star to Valli-girl, once again.
Gentle hugs to Iona. Slowly, slowly wins the race. Well done, Rosie, for stepping up to the mark on the caring front.
Belated hugs to Narc0. You aren’t being silly, your flowers are beautiful, and that was pure insensitivity. Please do an arrangement. I’m certainly looking forward to seeing your Christmas arrangements and your wreath. You are so talented.
Pigpen - so beautiful.
So, today I have a day off (using up the dregs of my leave). After scraping the car in -8 yesterday morning, it is nice to look out at the frozen countryside but not have to go out there. I think I ought to make a Flying effort today, the house is looking extra grotty, more than usual. DD is coming home tomorrow, which is exciting, but will bring turmoil to what has become our ploddy life since she went to uni. Boxes of Xmas decs are stacked up waiting for her. I have even less enthusiasm for the clutter than usual this year, so hopefully she will bring some Christmas cheer to the house.Cards written (less than usual, ditto presents), finished knitting DD’s jumper and DSis’ slippers this week, just DD’s wrist warmers to finish tonight. I haven’t wrapped a single present so that needs to go on today’s list too.Work is manic, playing catch up for days off, so it is a vicious circle, plus looming financial year end and I am in no way ready for that particular game. I’m in for 2.5 days next week, so they will be filled to the minute.
Hugs to all, off to read the lists and to sort my day. Back later xx8 -
Thank you everyone for the Thread
Piggers the pic is beautiful!!
Sorry I haven't been around much, I am trying to follow along but blooming appointments etc are getting in my way. Done my ironing today and trying to get along with the rest of my chores, I am clearing the area where the tree will go up tonight!!
Also I have a question if that's ok, as it is way off topic.. I found out at yesterdays hospital appointment that I have angina ( no surprise ) but also that they think I may have artherosclerosis, big surprise, coupled with the fear that my Mother died of complications of the disease many years ago., I was wondering if anyone here has had an angiogram, I am petrified because I am a wimp. xx Sorry for offloading.8 -
Join me in the oldies club, Valli!! Hope you feel.better soon. Take it easy and let healing happen.
I had a rough night with itchy skin - reaction to new meds?
Since breakfast ( pat on back for DH) I have checked food stocks, thrown out rotting veg, and written a shopping list for DS1. Not planning much more until lunchtime except zzz.
Trip to GP surgery at 5.30 to get sutures removed. DS1 will take me.
Xxxx8
