Just fill it with water and switch on. The water changes through a whole load of colours with a vortex rising through it. Very effective and soothing too. But I would not recommend giving them to anyone other than an adult. (too risky)
All the shops assistants rushed to get one when I picked mine up. Well worth the £1.99. They are listed at £25 on a lot of sites, and even in Dixons they are £15. Thanks again for this post. Polly:j
Just picked a couple up myself - instructions say you should use distilled water - is this what you used or normal tap water? I don't want to damage it.
Oh, FYI this is not so mini as it sounds - height is aprox 32cm, with a 10cm diameter.
We also got the radio duck for the bath at £4.99 - very well made - extremley impressed with the quality.0 -
GRRR! I'M FUMING!!¬¬
Just spent 30 minutes driving to Nuneaton where I had reserved four of the Vortex lamps for last minute stocking fillers, only to be told by the SA. "We're out of stock!..." My eyes met hers with a visible disbelief and then after a brief pause, she said, "sorry" and turned away.
I began walking out thinking life's too short but my anger got the better of me and I further questioned why on earth this had happened and moaned about the journey there and the journey I had to make back....for nothing.
She said, "Someone said they'd phoned you!", when I asked who she said I don't know, before, once again, the sorry and turn away routine.
I'm back now seething thinking what I could have done during the last two bloody hours ARGH!!!!
Rant over...0 -
Same thing has happened to me at a store in Yorkshire.
I had two of these vortex lamps on reserve only to be told that they were out of stock when I rang them to check. I was also told that they tried to call me but there was no message on my answering machine. I'm very angry and bitterly let down by Currys but I would urge you to call the freefone number on their website and ask the call centre to check with the your store ..... it'll probably save you a wasted journey !

I would of asked for the manager and not left the store until I'd had a full apology and some compensation. People take stuff like this lying down Faaaar too often!0 -
The plasma lamps are very small, but at 4.99 a good stocking filler.0
