Hiya,
I just started reading some of your posts after I saw a comment you'd left on another page!! Well done you on all you've managed to clear!! :T Hope you're not still feeling as fed up as you were a few pages back (sorry, I haven't actually read all posts - unfortunately I have to do some work at some point!! :P) - I've been plugging away at my debt for almost 2 years now, and it does get totally soul destroying sometimes! You just need to remember how much you've achieved with everything you've cleared - and just keeping thinking how amazing it'll be to have all that extra cash when it's all finally gone!!
Would your girlfriend not be in a position to get a house herself? (Sorry, if I'm being really insensitive, I didn't have time to read back far enough to find out why your plans changed meaning you were having to rent) Or she could maybe even move into a flat share which would be closer to her work, and still not as expensive as living on her own. I've been doing the long distance with my OH for the last year or so and he's moving down next week, but since I've still got so much debt to clear (and I also want to go back to uni), he's moving into a shared house in the mean time to give me enough breathing space to get back on my feet properly.
Or do you really need your car if you do move in together? If it's costing you so much, maybe public transport could be the way forward? I never thought I could be without a car, but there was about a year and half before I started this job (I now have a company car) where I was carless, and I actually didn't find it to be as big a hardship as I'd expected!
Just a thought, sorry if you've thought of all that through and it wouldn't work - like I said I hadn't time to read through everything you've written - but your story of what you've done so far has really inspired me to get going again on the debt clearing, so I thought I'd write something while I could still find your post!! (I'm quite new to this, so navigating my way around isn't all that easy yet!!)
Best of luck with it anyway, and I hope everything turned out ok with your girlfriend!

Many thanks!Hope you're not still feeling as fed up as you were a few pages back (sorry, I haven't actually read all posts - unfortunately I have to do some work at some point!! :P) - I've been plugging away at my debt for almost 2 years now, and it does get totally soul destroying sometimes! Not quite as bad but still fed up.The thought of a house is the only thing that keeps me doing it!Would your girlfriend not be in a position to get a house herself? No she wouldnt be in a position to do it herself due to cost in this part of the country and if she was moving out then we would want to move in together.Or do you really need your car if you do move in together? Unfortunately my car is a neccesity especially seen as my girlfriend has been told she cant drive.Just a thought, sorry if you've thought of all that through and it wouldn't work
Many thanks for all the suggestions but unfortuntely they wouldnt work but i appreciate you taking the time to reply. Although at the minute my girlfriend has a collegue who drives through her village on the way to and from work so she is giving her a lift the majority of the time and then i take her if she is staying at mine. So at the minute things will stay how they are.- like I said I hadn't time to read through everything you've written - but your story of what you've done so far has really inspired me to get going again on the debt clearing, so I thought I'd write something while I could still find your post!! Hope that helpsBest of luck with it anyway, and I hope everything turned out ok with your girlfriend!

That's good news you've found a solution to it in the mean time! I'm sure it won't take you too long to get your money sorted and get your own house! Although I can sympathise that sometimes it feels like a lifetime when you're waiting for it to happen!!
I'm hoping to do the same eventually - I seem to go through phases where I decide I want to do it immediately, then I'm kinda forced to content myself again where I realise that actually I haven't the money to do it so it's not an option! :P It's frustrating, but at least my mum's not too annoying to live with!!
Thanks for the advice on the posts - I'm starting to figure it out gradually! I should probably just read through the advice for new users - but patience is something I've never been good at!
Take care

Not alot else to report, car is booked in on thursday so hopefully that will get sorted although there is now another noise to add to the list. As much as i love my car and have spent a fortune on it i am seriously thinking about trading it in and getting something else as i just seem to be pouring money down the drain on it every month.
Only thing with that is it would mean a new loan, although i would get enough to cover the old loan aswell. Need to think seriously about this.
