Evri - the courier from hell

Although this is an old thread, I will say that I've never had a problem with Evri (and previously Hermes) either delivering to my house or to a pick-up point.
I suspect it's down to individual couriers.2 -
Maybe dare I say, EVRI or whatever they want to call themselves, seem to attract them.
Recent examples, (we have bell and knocker on front door) both happened when we were home.
1. Replacement dishwasher pump in 3.5 inch square cardboard box. No knock no doorbell ring, POD was a hand holding box in front of 2" high letter box. We heard a rattle...box was on doorstep. It might have fitted in the letterbox if the driver had run over the box a couple of times.
2. Rang bell, when we opened door found A4 package left on doorstep, driver in van about to drive off., Again POD was hand holding package in letterbox.
It would be funny unless the items had gone missing. Of course trying to flag this with CS meets with indifference. They either don't care or don't exist 😞.

A few years ago – I was waiting in for a parcel to be delivered by Hermes (then) – I saw that it was almost here on “tracking” watched the van drive past the house and disappear round the corner
It then went about two miles away where my parcel was delivered to a flat in a block, nobody was in and the driver left the parcel in a community area and took a photo to prove that it had been delivered.
I complained to the sender – who sent out a replacement the next day, again, by Hermes – but it was delivered correctly the following day.
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
Evri /Hermes drivers are self employed so the service you get depends on the driver.
Where I used to live the service was terrible. tracking would say 'our for delivery' which just meant it wa sint eh van and would be delivered sometime- often 10-12 days if at all.
I asked retailers who they used for delivery before ordering and if it was Hermes I told them why I would not be ordering. One company did offer to use Yodel ( just as bad) if I phoned in my order and stated I wanted delivery by Yodel.
Where I now live the service from Evri is excellent.

I've had good and bad in the past. My last interaction was buying trainers from SportsDirect which came by Evri - 2 days before the estimated date. Good - seeing as I was in, perhaps not so good if I'd gone away.I need to think of something new here...0

I'd be annoyed if I'd paid for delivery on a specific date but if I was given an estimated delivery date, I'd expect it any time after it had been dispatched.1 -
I paid 4.99 for next day delivery on Tuesday. Evri delivered late last night. I will complain to the retailer and ask to be refunded. If I had known that they use Evri, I wouldn't have ordered in the first place.0

So it arrived the next day as you paid for? Do they stipulate a timescale in the day in which it's delivered? I don't like Evri - and avoid using them at all costs - but it seems from what you said, you got what you paid for? Or did I misunderstand? Today's Thursday - yesterday was Wednesday?
