Evri - the courier from hell

Thank you, that was really helpful. In retrospect my comment was perhaps a bit unkind for which I apologise.Ebe_Scrooge said:Murphybear said:
ive had them delivered mainly by Royal Mail and Hermes/Evri. What is interesting and perhaps surprising is that I’ve not had any real problems. It depends an awful lot on the particular driver. Some are really conscientious and will go out of their way to keep customers happy, others less so. Do bear in mind, the drivers earn a pittance to start with, added to which they have to buy, maintain and run their own vehicle. So with the price of fuel these days, their effective take-home pay has dwindled significantly.
This is how their systems work. When the driver loads up at the depot, they have to assign an ETA to each parcel. If they're familiar with their route then they can usually be reasonably accurate. But if they're new, or it's a different driver that's covering for someone else and not familiar with the route, then it'll get to say 2:00pm and they have to re-assign the ETA for all those that were supposed be done before 2:00 because they're running late. Or it could simply be that the traffic was worse than usual, or they had a breakdown, or any number of reasons.Murphybear said:
The only thing that annoys me about Evri is although they email me projected delivery times they keep changing them. They say for example it will be delivered between 12 and 2 then when 2 arrives they say it will be delivered between 2 and 4.But if they deliver a significant number of parcels after the ETA they get a right ear-bashing from the area managers, so they have to adjust the ETA if they're running late for whatever reason. And yes, before you ask, I did do a stint working for Hermes some time ago. The company are certainly not in the top 10 of "great employers to work for", but please don't take it out on the poor drivers who work their socks off to earn a paltry amount.Actually our Evri drivers are usually very helpful and always friendly. We are all over 60 in our housing development and if a parcel is heavy they don’t just hand it to us at the main door but will carry it to our individual property.2 -
I've got a package currently in the ether at Evri. They sent an email to say they've got it and will let me know when its out for delivery, I checked today and apparently is been delayed. Its been sitting in the delivery depot for four days and still just says "We're sorry, your parcel has been delayed. We're working to get it on its way on the next working day and we'll let you know once it's out for delivery."
Hopefully they'll get it sorted and out for delivery next week as otherwise it'll be too late to reorder in time for Xmas.0 -
I and the companies I deal with have been using Hermes /Evri for years and I've never had any problems. Evri even has a photo which I placed on their site showing exactly where my parcel box is sited next to a wall in the grounds and across our orchard , and the drivers ( though always in a hurry ) never fail to leave it in the correct place. Nothing seems too much trouble for Evri and I merely "speak as I find".0

You are probably right p00hsticks, unfortunately the item currently delayed in the hands of Evri is a custom photo canvas print that someone has chosen for their Xmas. If it doesn't turn up on time, it'll just need to be a late present. Here's hoping they haven't actually lost it...0

We have had problems all last week with various couriers.Evri - the issue seems to be between collection from retailer and passing on to final courier. I have seen our regular one out and about on her rounds (very friendly and helpful). We had 1 item delivered last week and second half of order yesterday.DPD - we had to pop out to get more dried catfood as our bulk order hasn't arrived (litter did) and have had 'apology' emails every day saying will come tomorrow for last 8 days. We ordered a nice finish at home meal for last Friday that never showed. Order booked for Sunday arrived without issue.Royal Mail - We have 3 Christmas cards so far and not even I have managed to upset enough people in the last 12 months to cut the number down.We are semi-rural though.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Yep, don't use Hermes, sorry Evri, and don't buy from people who use them. It's the only way to be sure of avoiding contact with Britain's worst courier.RomanyRoma said:does anyone else have any other options to advise me of please ?

My son uses Evri nearly every week to send/ receive items and doesn't have any problems.0

I also have had a parcel "on hold" with Evri, I found this out by checking tracking. No email or anything else. I'm chasing the sender and hope they will chase them up.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
I'm chasing the sender up now too peter_the_piper, parcel was received by Evri on the 6th and its been showing as delayed with no further update since the 7th. It's beginning to look like they've lost it. So pretty useless, as is the lack of contact from them.0
