Dissolved 15 years ago… Yet was still runing in 2022.

So must have been running outside any company at a guess, unless another took it over.

It's sad that the original concept, which started in 1969, was basically taken over by an online generation that didn't care about people just getting their paws into seeing its worth. DLF Shaw Trust, Living Made Easy for some £, and whatever name they morph into next look like they already have. But seems the website and forums where basically kept running by advertising for a long time. They've treated people with distain and couldn't care less. Just looking for the next grant handout. Website has been abandoned by LME and all social media except linked in. I think there's way more to what we know with nobody really claiming to own anything. Some people done well out of it for sure.

Let's face it, we all knew it was dead and that all the good work and help there was going to be lost.

And we have to be realistic, a lot of the advice that we gave there was great at the time but is no longer relevant today anyway.

Makes wonder what happened to the data they must've had access to. Seems that first sudden closure was it's end. The second wasn't about servers it was about who was liable and still is. Ongoing just operating under a new business name to avoid tax liability.

Thinking back 2010 was when the forum closed for the first time.
(Ostensibly following a row betweeen the forum owners and the forum moderators at the time).

If I'm correct that was when the Youreable company was wound up, and it was only subsequently that 'Living Made Easy' acquired the rights to use the Youreable name and opened a new forum with that name, which is the one that most of us knew.

Personally I believe that it was closed by Living Made Easy simply as a cost cutting measure.
With no real intention to reopen despite what they said.

As for data; the only private data that they could possibly still have on you is the email address that you used to register on the forum.
Everything that any of us posted there was in the public domain and so not covered by the Data Protection Act.

It's funny @Newcad because Living made easy made a fairly recent post on Facebook I believe "

"Did you know that Disability Living Foundation Living Made Easy, and the Shaw Trust are part of the same organisation surprised you're not alone"

I can't remember what details I signed up with but they clearly are just denying outright ownership to avoid possible debts that are outstanding. Owed to Lloyds PlC who was funding the website.

Surprised you're Not alone. You think they were aware of that and who was running Youreable website. And going by that Gov information Youreable stopped paying around 2009

Well I knew that DLF, and it's shop LME, were associated with the Shaw Trust since 2014 - it even told you that at the bottom of the Yourable forum.

Just who was running/moderating the forum was impossible to track down though.
I recall contacting the admin by email a couple of times, but emails can be forwarded to another address. (I do that myself).

I did eventually come to the conclusion that LME were only promoting the forum on their website/shop in order to claim charitable status.
I could not see anything else about their online shopfront that would make it qualify as being charitable (and still don't).

it even told you that at the bottom of the Yourable forum.

Just how accurate is a statement like that, anyone would be able to add a line like that.

Just the same as the bottom of this page "is part of the MONY Group" Someone takes over running forum, they may or may not alter that text.

Doing a whois on domain might give a better answer, as they are paying for the domain name.

The DLF are also morphing into a new name. You also see Living made easy, posted nothing since 2005 the website link was removed and X Instagram the only activity is via LinkedIn. The fact that nobody made a final statement or let the thousands of members know doesn't sit right. I had a couple of answers two of social, one off the forum all lies.Maybe they was also clueless.
