Morning all - and yes Mrs P - fingers very crossed please!
Cheery that made me LOL - and yes, I can already identify!
Well then - here we are at another Monday, nd keeping to a theme, it's a damp, grey murky one down here! Still, I'll be spending much of it in the office so that doesn't matter all that much really.
Aside from house related stuff, it's been a really productive feeling weekend -
As well as the chickpeas, I cooked a bit pot of ragu yesterday and three tubs of that - each enough for two of us, have been tucked away into the freezer. I also cooked a batch of bread sauce - to go with our "Christmas dinner" sunday roast last night, and three additional tubs have again been frozen. Also on the cooking front, after a visit to the farm shop yesterday morning, the first batch of marmalade has been made - we plan to make two this year. 2 large and 5 slightly smaller jars from this one, plus a china bowl full as we ran out of jars - only of course immediately we'd finished MrEH remembered the bag of them that were stashed away and easily accessible - sigh! Oh well - we can easily use that basin of it over the next few weekends!
A load of washing done last night, and the DW went through too - that needs emptying tonight but the washing was popped onto the airer by MrEH this morning - we really need to keep up with washing at the moment as obviously we won't want it hanging around if we get viewers booked in. Handily we do have the airer out on the balcony though so we can easily pop stuff out there - underlining the "oh yes, we can get washing dried outside all year which is lovely!" narrative! And in fairness, that IS super-useful - not being able to when we move is something we'll have to get used to! Anyway as long as the stuff I hung out there yesterday is mostly dry by this evening we'll switch them around - bring in the outside stuff, transfer the airer stuff out there, and another load can go through tonight - and that will bring us almost up to date hopefully.
Goodness there have been loads of things I have thought I must tell you lot and now I can't think of any of them!
MSE Stuff:
- Home made marmalade. Batch 1 cost around £4.35 plus the fuel to cook it - so under 60p a jar by the time the bowl full is taken into account.
- Batch cooking - and one lot of mince stretched into three meals for the two of us with the addition of finely chopped mushrooms and red lentils.
- Keeping yesterday's additional shopping trips at least moderately under control - £11.18 at the farm shop - this included £3.95 for Seville oranges, then £6.62 in T's - which included two bags of sugar and a pack of unwaxed lemons again for the marmalade, plus some small bits for lunch yesterday.
- interest landing on one of our long term savings pots today - a 1 year fix, nice to see it building.
- Making a small detour yesterday to get diesel for MrEH's car at 167.8 - which is 6p cheaper per litre than it would have been at home. 6 miles extra covered, for £1.57 saving was enough to make it worthwhile.
- I've transferred the money for my pricey shop toiletries from last week across straight to the CC from my previously untouched personal spends budget for this month.
General stuff:
- An event that we previously weren't interested in has seen a change to feature speakers who we would really like to see, so we're going to try to book that for an evening early next month. I will only cost me travel (MrEH will walk there from his office), and probably food as the event itself is free as part of our membership of the organising group.
- I'm aiming for a nice active week - a couple of runs at least, a visit to the gym on Friday, yoga most days, and a good bit of cycling and walking in the mix too. I want to get my fitness - and particularly my cardio fitness -levels on the up again.
- I'll be aiming to back up the activity with good hydration and sleep too.
