I shouldn’t really have used the word “Solicitor” to describe the wuckfit on the other side - he’s a conveyancer at best…although even that is stretching the point, and is one VERY good reason why at least some form of professional qualification from within the jurisdiction concerned should be required for those practising law in any form in the U.K., IMO. I think we will be making a formal complaint about him after the event - at the least about the fact that he twice told a blatant and outright lie to MrBoss (he did that in writing too, foolishly!) That may be acceptable in whatever location his professional qualification was gained, but it most certainly isn’t here!enthusiasticsaver said:Sorry EH. All I can say is that is more or less what happened with my DD and they did complete on the agreed date but with so little time between exchange and completion it was incredibly stressful. Again down to one solicitor.LOL RT you made me giggle about the P155 up in a Brewery lightbulb moment…One of my personal proud claims is that I have in the past been responsible for successfully organising a good few of those myself - in a very literal sense - always good to know when you are capable of things! 🤭🤣
Aarghh… Thank you ALL for your positivity and outrage - both are very gratefully received I can promise, it really is good to feel that you have a little team of cheerleaders in the background at times like this.Probably unsurprisingly, another night of not great sleep. Went to bed at about 11.30, woke at 5am, decided at 6am that rather than lying there “trying to get back to sleep” I’d actually open the curtains and lie and read my book, and at some stage dozed off again for another couple of hours which I’m not complaining about, even if it will mean a later start to the day than I had assumed I would have. No hard and fast plans today aside from Mum coming over this afternoon anyway, other than that it is mostly going to be continuing to get things into boxes (Mum is going to give a hand with the Dragon collection) and probably starting a bit of deep cleaning of various areas, too. Other than that it may well just be a pottering sort of day.
Not planning any sort of visiting of shops (I will still need to pop to T’s at some stage before Tuesday, but no rush) so it might even end up being a NSD.Time now for my second cuppa of the day, and some toast I think (sourdough - mmm!) then make some sort of rough time layout of the day I think…🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Definitely complain. I've only had 4 occasions to use a solicitor & wish I had complained about 3 of them. But I was young & thought it was me until I learnt better. I suspect that is what many of them rely upon - the general ignorance & also possibly fear of the bulk of people. Thankfully you know better.

Goodness badmemory, you must have been astonishingly unlucky to have had dealings with quite so many poor solicitors - thankfully they really are very much in a minority, although none the less infuriating when you have to deal with one!
Thanks to all for popping by and the continued good vibes - it really is very special knowing there are folk all over the place willing us on like this! And tarring and feathering definitely appeals… 🤣🤣
More boxes packed - I’m starting to get stuck in to the more “immediate” stuff now so decisions to be made on what can be fully packed into sealed boxes and what needs to go into boxes that will remain open for the time being. Shelves are all pretty much cleared now and mostly cleaned down too. I went round with the glass cleaner earlier on and did all the mirrors plus the glass shelves in one unit - so just a quick whizz round the windows tomorrow and that will be all the glass dealt with. Bathroom tiles done with pink stuff and a scrubby this morning so they’ll just need wiping down after showers as usual to ensure that they stay free of limescale. The microwave, kettle and toaster have all had a thorough clean, and I shifted the microwave to do behind/under it too.
Must do a charity shop run tomorrow as we’ve got a big bag of stuff to get rid of. I also need to try emailing another charity about the fridge freezer too - annoyingly the first one I tried hasn’t responded. Also still need to get the final, bits of shopping for the week (fruit and loo cleaner!) so we’ll be able to combine the two journeys.Decluttered the dregs of a bottle of bubble bath last night - not had a good soak in the bath for ages, very relaxing and lovely. Also got a few bits from the freezer eaten over the weekend, although it doesn’t seem to be thinning out very much! I’ve got sliced lamb (leftovers from the last roasting joint) out for tomorrow though, and plans in place to use up a few more bits yet too.Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday weekend - I confess it will be quite nice to not have to go to work tomorrow!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

One of these days I'll come on & give everyone a laugh about them. Because I do now tend to treat it as a joke.
