  • I've just read through this tread and would like to thanks vinylmusic who raised the alarm about outnow as I thought it was a good deal, since I started renting online with Lovefilms, Blockbusters & Cinema Paradiso the lost in the post never cost me anything.

Eventually I learnt that I was punished for being an heavy user, the films on the top of my list where never sent and recently anything sent back on Thursday would not be replaced for the weekend.

Obviously because everything is recorded those companies can easilly recognise a pattern but my latest trick to benefitiate of a new trial period but mainly being able to watch my preferred choice had been to use a new email address as the payment card and the address had no impact.

never had any problems with tesco dvd rental, got most of my toplist in the first 6weeks (trial period)
I was wondering how close to the cancellation date can I get before being charged (ie my billing date is friday) can I cancel on thursday and then return discs or do I have to cancel on tuesday and send discs back?
    thanks
    Jim

I still am having problems getting hold of any in my top 16 odd so have cancelled....I only got a 3 week trial with them and I cancelled on Sunday but I have to get the discs back by the 22nd (end of my trial) in order to complete the cancellation. You have to get the free certificate of posting as well when you post discs back. So yes you need to get them back for Friday...

I am now trying Cinema Paradiso and I prefer the way you can organise dvd's with them, I can type in the number in my list I want the dvd to be rather than having to juggle high, medium and low priority...
  • anyone else having a nightmare signing on to lovefilm lately and the returned dvds not showing up for days on end. not impressed with them now.

I have had a trial with Tesco dvd (lovefilm) recently and they were quite good, seemed to have reasonable turn around. Now having a trial with blockbuster...quite like the fact that you can have 2 free instore rentals a month (and as my trial spans 2 calender mths I get 4 films) but I have found their turn around to be appalling...it seems to take 3 days for them to recieve the film back and another 2 or 3 for me to get it, I know about the postal dispute but I just get the feeling that blockbuster are very slow

I think lovefilm are having problems because of the postal strikes atm, i can sign on fine and my discs are being posted just taking days to get to me.

Tesco DVD's service was poor for me, they did get the films sent to me quite quickly but I never got any of my top 16. I am with Blockbuster now like you but only got the one month trial and I am finding them quite slow ( i think they are in the Midlands and the postal strikes are causing big problems with that area i believe, so that might be the reason) . The best trial I have had is with Cinema Paridiso, they had a fast turn around and were only 40p a month more than Blockbsuter so I think when I start to pay for DVD rental whether now or in the future I will go back to them...

My Blockbuster account hasn't updated and I posted the disc back on Wednesday so it must be the Postal Strike...
  • Not sure if some one else has pointed this out but Tesco's are not the cheapest for DVD rental - Lidl's is at £3.39 a month for 2 movies.:j:T
