Thanks everyone. I got here late Friday evening as I ended up working most of Thursday and Friday on an urgent couple of tasks. Frustrating but important. As a result I got here utterly exhausted having driven through surface spray and flooding and hoped for the best. I got here safely but rather overwhelmed.
I have spent the last three days making art. I had a Mr A delivery yesterday and Am**** today. I have spent what feels like a lot without leaving the cottage.
I tried something too ambitious I think today and over worked it. I plan to have another go in the hope of doing a better job. I need to finda way of simplifying the image.
I have been listening to stories real and fiction intermittently.
I have also had calls from various moving related organisations but my brain refused to make decisions today so just made art.
Hope you are all well where you are. I am trying to rest my brain as it feels like I let it get too full. So not read diaries for a few days.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Love the picture. I wondered if you were affected by floods. Glad you are safe and doing art. Take care."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Glad you have carved out some time for yourself. Was a bit worried that you'd been quiet but glad to hear that you arrived safely and are finding ways to let your brain and body rest.

The secret sometimes is to make things as simple as you can but no simpler. I liked the picture and even looking again couldn't really see what you would simplify - spoke to me of brightness and beauty within a hint of gloomI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Much as I love reading your posts I'm really glad that you seem to be taking some proper time to disengage with everything aside from actually relaxing a bit and doing the things you find calming. well done!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I am far from an art critic, so feel free to take or leave this, but I wonder if the problem with the picture is that it feels a little artificial? I'm guessing you started with the structure, then added the background? The upright supports conveniently framing the trees with orange leaves in the background doesn't quite ring true. Similarly the green leaved tree boughs matching the slope of the roof.
Can't wait for you to prove without shadow of a doubt that I know absolutely nothing by posting a photo of that scene looking exactly like that 🤣🤣
Nice to hear you're having a nice relaxing time!3 -

You are right in that I started with the band stand structure. It is a heritage designed park by a famous landscape architect C B so has extremely well designed tree planting - although it could be argued I should have made them yellower rather than orange. I tried to find a way to add the sky back in after having covered it up in the later version but didn't succeed. Similarly the roof itself inside was in the too difficult category and the right angle roof supports pretty complex!! The earlier version shows the supporting columns better where the later version I made the floor too dark and didn't differentiate enough between the back supports and the front in terms of colour. I also didn't capture light and shadow well enough. I gave up before adding in the leaves in the foreground. I also realised too late I hadn't quite angled the trees in the foreground correctly or the wall but figured as long as no-one saw the reference photo they'd never knowI think one of the issues with the painting is that I didn't allow enough sky full stop but it was impossible to add in later.
I will give it another go at some point as I often find that on a later attempt it is easier to see what I could have improved - and easier to work out how to get past the hard bits.
