Hi Lucielle. No surveys done yet and don't know how far along my buyers are.

    Good luck to your DDs.

Thanks Beanie. I've almost done the paperwork for the sale. Still need to do the boundaries questions. Need to do ID check via app tomorrow and pay initial money. Then start purchase paperwork.

Weird answering questions as single seller rather than a couple and sole occupier too. Still dealing with 'firsts' post divorce. I have to take lots of breaks and ask a sister for advice as out of practice at moving where a number of siblings moved in last 18 months.

DS ran a half marathon for charity at the weekend. Very proud of him.

Took car to garage. Due to pick it up first thing. Just hope it passes MOT ok.

Weird work day tomorrow as at the hairdresser's midday then potentially restart work. I had to move appointment due to holiday. Using remaining Flexi. If I can get a key piece of work done may not restart. Depends how much it matters to my boss.

Appetite massively affected by new meds to the point it was hard to eat at lunch but over ate when meds wore off. Exhausted today but could be vaccine impacts and life admin pressure. Looking forward to being off from Friday.

Thanks KK - yes I think I need to really focus on work this morning - and as you say avoid working late afternoon if I can. I have an important meeting tomorrow - but may see if I can book Thursday off to continue decluttering and potentially drop some stuff off at a relative's house.

I was awake for a while in the night so just after half six gave up and started journalling. Part of me is panicking at the scale of what needs doing even though because of the decluttering approach - it probably isn't that bad. I'd kind of relaxed into thinking it would be after Christmas which while not ideal gave me plenty of time - and then the mortgage timescale yesterday suddenly seemed to speed things up again. It would be good to start the new year in a new home - and have the time I have off anyway to help sort stuff - but I'm trying to be okay with it happening later too so I don't get my 'hopes' up too much and end up disappointed.

I need to make decisions like what level of survey to do. I'm debating between the mid and the top range. The house is only from around 2002 I think or worst case other parts of the estate are 1995 - so I'm hoping that means it is reasonably sound. It looks in good condition. It's a difference of a couple of hundred quid - but I don't want too intrusive a survey if that would damage the house. Will ask sis what she thinks.

I need updated removal quotes. Last time I looked into it they suggested finding as local a based one as I could to reduce my costs. I need to recruit some helpers - but it will depend when it is to how available people are likely to be. I'm also aware that people could let me down - which then feels like a rejection and a disappointment - and worse than if I hadn't asked in the first place. I need to practice not saying other's no for them though. I've just ordered some boxes. I asked my cleaner if she could help and come to the new house the day of the move if I pay her - and potentially she could depending on how much notice I give her.  When I get back from my holiday I need to sell DD's e-bike for her. She either needs to take her manual bike or sell it too as I don't plan to move it with me.

I'm still debating what to do about my sofa - while I'm worried it's too big for the room - I still need to measure it. I need something for guests to sit on while I wait for a new/newer one. The kitchen installation part of the quote scared me - and made me doubt if I could afford new stuff without emptying my savings which I want to avoid.

My arm is still hurting after the vaccine. I keep telling myself that shows it's working - but it's still a pain ;)

I need to have a shower, get dressed and collect my car. I can then start work early for me - and hopefully clear the highest priority work. Will ask boss about Thursday off. I have plenty of leave left to book - I was just balancing time off with workload pressures.

Have a good day all. I know I will get there - it's this bit in between that hard. Also I read enough negative moving stories on EH's diary - please only share positive ones on here as I've got a wild enough imagination as is and I don't need anything to add to that worry.

Definitely try to take one step at a time it can feel totally overwhelming. It does feel strange after being in the long term relationship to suddenly make all the decisions. You can do it and will do it.

As for survey the house I sold was from 1994 (sold 4 years ago) and the person who bought it was an estate agent and he only got a valuation done no survey at all. Problem with the survey is that they cannot comment on things like electrics or plumbing and you have to pay for that to be inspected or they will say it is not up to current standards. That does not mean it is not good enough it is just that the legislation has changed. One of our big flags on the survey for this house (built in 1979) was that it had no banisters which was a massive "danger" on the survey. It has never had a banister so it would have been ok when built and pretty obvious to spot. Would your handyman be prepared to look at the house once you have a basic survey done if there is anything you are concerned about? Or do you know a builder/trades person depending on what it might be that you are worried about? I had the homebuyer survey done and then got a family member out to spot things for me.

Hope you get to take the afternoon off sounds like you need to relax.

    Thanks Lucielle, TG, Dawn

    I had sale memo today.

I have booked extra time off half day tomorrow and all of Thursday. I will try and do the ID checks and first payments for legal today. I do have to work a bit after my hair appointment though.

Car replaced tyre, service and MOT. £275. Unfortunately had to pay by bank transfer. Was about £55 more than planned. Mechanic said car sound though. Nothing to worry about. Said back numberplate needs replacing before next MOT.
