Sounds like lots of progress is being made, and great that you are getting to do the art as well."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Great idea to work slowly but consistently towards declutter and working out what you want to take on your move
even though I haven’t found my flat yet me doing the minimalist game feels good especially when I ask do I really want to move X or Y
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Just done my cattery form and deposit payment.
I think coming to the realisation that clutter and related storage - is often just evidence of delayed decisions so if I can resolve that sooner rather than later than is positive. I look at my parent's house with horror despite them being tidy - just because of the sheer volume of stuff they've retained - and that someone at some point will have to go through all of that. I want to minimise doing that to my kids - although hopefully I have decades left.

Hope the meeting went ok. Love to see a pic of the hare. I have a real soft spot for them and donkeys oh and hedgehogs! I was quite ruthless on our recent moves but still feel we have too much stuff!

Meeting was fine although too many of them today! DS phoned today so had a lengthy chat with him and then a Sis phoned so just had a late tea.
Took an hour off at lunchtime to speak to my mortgage provider. Now have a call set up to discuss porting my mortgage and apply early next week. In theory they'd lend me a scary amount of £. Thankfully I don't need as much as I qualify for. They reckon it will take 8-12 weeks from next week's call for my application to port to be processed. Seems an exceptionally long time given it is just a port but presumably they are including the survey etc in that. That part is due to cost £200 upfront followed by up to £600 for the survey.
I've had two separate emails from the solicitors today covering my sale and purchase and about 12 docs for each. Struggling not to feel overwhelmed. Wondering whether my printer will cope - although when it comes to scanning things in - will need to nip into work. Read the first email's attachments so far. I had a little panic at one point as it said I would be liable for £ if it didn't progress - and then on close to the last doc on the first email it said - there was an agreed exemption to that provision. They will post them out to me if I need them to and right now seriously considering asking for that. I think my printer needs more toner - or will before I've finished printing. The solicitors seem to want £50 upfront - and the introducer £450 upfront towards the searches, photocopying & fees - need to check if that £50 is mentioned twice or if I need £500 upfront for legal overall.
Looks like I'll be raiding my savings within a week! Have to keep reminding myself that's part of why they are there.
My buyer has sent in some docs to the EA over the weekend - but still needs to provide proof of funds for a gifted amount. Hope that doesn't become a major issue. It means my EA hasn't been able to issue the docs related to my sale yet where previously I'd thought the only hold up was my solicitor details (which I gave Friday).
I think I now need to let myself chill the rest of the evening as that is a lot of house related stuff in a day!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I've just booked a covid jab for Sunday. I had my flu jab just over a week ago - so hopefully that will help protect me. I know people at work who are struggling with C19 again at the moment or are recovering having been quite ill with it and I absolutely don't want it. I remembered to take 2 of my new meds today - so that was an improvement. Been very hit and miss.
My insurance goes out Wednesday. My car is due to be serviced and MOT'd next week. I need to ring the garage tomorrow and confirm it should only be a minor service. The only thing that might bump up the cost - is I asked the garage about the back windscreen washer which doesn't work (despite replacing the water pump as part of a cam belt change about 19 months ago). I may also benefit from new windscreen wipers.
The unread solicitor email is nagging at me. I may give in yet and read it. When I look at how much money needs to go out in the next month I'm half regretting booking my cottage holiday - but know I'll love it when I'm there. Hoping the weather is kind. The other half of me can't wait and mentally I'm on countdown - so most of me is saying it's overdue. I go a week on Friday. Will hopefully do some more writing and art while I'm away. I've also got 2 half days booked off next week on top - for a mortgage appointment and a hair appointment so only working the equivalent of 3 days. I get paid Friday - so hopefully can hold off accessing my savings until the one that matures at the end of October is 'ready'.

If I struggle with reading important emails I get the text to speech reader to read them out loud for me as an introduction. I can then read them myself.
Re books - I hated objects having too much power over me. I did throw books out at the tip and it was remarkably freeing. It feels good to know that you have the power to make decisions like that if you need to and charity shops/ziffit etc are not an option.
