Well done on the life style changes and weight loss SH - you are inspiring me to make some of my own changes. I've been listening to this podcast recently and it's been making me think a lot about what I'm eating.

Earliest viewing for that one is Tuesday so need to decide if wait until Saturday instead. They had a sale fall through. Lots of offers already refused. Doesn't sound like I could get it for what I am willing to pay.
Other option is to try original valley house.
Drove to valley today. Had coffee in a tiny cafe and talked to friendly locals. Not much on the market in the area currently... Definitely need to consider practicalities. Last 5 miles of journey to valley sometimes cut off in winter.
Currently in a pub about 7 miles away. Didn't enjoy meal but they have my fave soft drink.
Unfortunately I forgot to take meds today and have none with me. Don't know whether to go home early....
Will reply to individual comments when I am back on a laptop.

I don't know how far you are from home. Could you drive home for meds, then go back?
If the vendor has had a sale fall through they might be more open to an offer not less?
I found talking to friendly locals to be the best way to 'get a feel' for the area.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Hope you enjoyed your day out. Have you looked into internet connections in the new area? Not only for WFH, but if I was in an area likely to be cut off by weather, I'd like to feel connected to the world still."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I was really put off by the estate agent - as they were suggesting the vendors wouldn't accept any low offers and had already rejected loads. I think the romance wore off slightly yesterday of the tiny valley too as I sat in the tiny cafe that wasn't much bigger than my lounge. There was a young family there but they were visiting their mother while she volunteered there. All the other people in the cafe were pensionable age. The young family said they lived in a nearby town as there was more there for the kids. However, I was feeling a huge level of fatigue as I'd forgot my meds and ended up going home early as I was scared I'd otherwise fall asleep while driving.KajiKita said:I like the boldness of the trainers - both the colourfulness and the decision to get them. I am starting to realise I am looking a bit threadbare … I need to do something about this but I hate shopping so much and I don’t want to spend the money! 😂

Thanks FS - I don't have a TV licence so assume I can't listen to that. What these meds have proven is that my huge level of over eating had a chemical component. That actually feels quite freeing and enables me to forgive myself for it. I was telling my counsellor this week that even as a child I stole money from my parents for sweets and chocolate - but apparently that was logical as it was one of the few ways to give myself dopamine in a tricky family and school situation.
Apparently these meds are known to positively impact binge eaters but aren't prescribed in isolation due to the risk of dangerous side effects which I found out this week can include sudden death which was a shock. Presumably that's why I needed an ECG first and regular BP monitoring. For the first time in years I am experiencing a feeling of 'fullness' during meals - and sometimes stopping before my plate is cleared. That in itself is blowing my mind. What I also hadn't anticipated is that it is changing the taste of food. So crisps while on the meds taste wrong and very chemically - but off the meds yesterday were delicious. Shop bought coffee cake ended up being binned which just never happens in this house. It felt the same waste of calories that a watery tangerine is that has lost its flavour. I have had some small bits of chocolate but it's no longer a compulsion.
I gained a 1/4 of a pound overnight just for one day off the meds. I reckon I ate at least 600 extra calories yesterday of junk compared with when I am on the meds. My mouth was back to being as dry as a bone overnight - where is had improved significantly while on the meds - presumably helped by the reduced sugar. I am a mouth breather so some dryness is to be expected.
I think it is also highlighting my impulsivity. I wasn't that aware of it before - as presumably I just did things - but now I am wondering was the valley house an impulse / autistic obsession. I still think I'd benefit from being surrounded by more green - but can now at least process the valuable bits in what the naysayers are saying - such as consider medical, wifi, travel in winter etc. I have a horror of single track roads - but in that valley - only one road out is dual track all the others are single so I need to consider how much time (and stress) that could add to journeys.
Thanks DIA - I was too far away from home and really tired from the lack of meds.
Jwil - good call on the internet. Phone signal isn't great.
Hope you are all having a good weekend.
DD is switching her official address elsewhere which feels a huge milestone. There would be a benefit in testing the impact of that ahead of any move on my part too.
My trainers came - I'm keeping one set and returning the others. I did a short walk to the nearby shop last night but just bought slices of ham and beef and some tomatoes.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think having a rethink when the practicalities and the realities of the location become apparent isn't a terrible thing to do. @savingholmes do you regularly use the same bag when going out? If so would it be possible to keep a small amount of your medication in a pocket or similar? It would prevent yesterday's difficulties.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
