DD's reaction to your dresses made me smile. 🥰 My DD has 3 of my outfits - a gown for a ball, a sparkly full length dress, and a catsuit. She's taken one more back to uni with her each time she's left. The sparkly dress is quite stretchy and was actually what I was wearing when I went into labour, so a bit weird when I see her in it! Probably weirder for her dad though as I didn't have lots of outfits back in the day, so these 3 came out everytime there was anything special going on! 🫣4

Amazing progress on your lists! I am really motivated by hearing the difference you have made, 'just' really by deciding to start. Well done!!5

My house is nice - and getting better as clutter leaves. It feels an epic achievement to be getting this size house ready by myself.
DD removed her 2 boot fulls of stuff yesterday and I put the charity bags in the car ready to take them somewhere.
Went to work, counsellor and bought food yesterday. Mostly rested in the evening - unsurprisingly I was pretty wiped.
I'm aiming for next Wednesday afternoon now to be photo ready and that should be doable - as long as my cleaner comes.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Wow you've managed so much in such a short space of time. In awe of you.

Thanks Seaweed
I slid the toybox from the landing into my art room and decorated it with a few soft toys... It looks like a window seat. It now gives the impression of it being a kid's bedroom / playroom as you come upstairs even though there's a desk in it rather than a bed to one side. The toybox is full of the kids sentimental toys from when they were growing up... In moving it though I uncovered more stains on the landing carpet that I'd forgotten. I have an ottoman though I could put upstairs or a laundry hamper - and then DD has a huge teddy I could sit on top of that which I think would distract from that.... I think a buyer would replace the hall, stairs and landing carpet anyway - so shouldn't be a deal breaker.
I returned some things to Dun*** & TK**** but also bought stuff from there plus a white painted wooden box and stainless steel bin from Sains. I'll need to return most of the Dun & TK stuff as it didn't go where I wanted it/I don't need it and it's potentially just new clutter. (Growth right there - although it would be useful if I could get that realisation before I bought it). The white box looks nice though and hides DD's items in the bathroom. The bin is also nice and a keeper. I bought a picture for the bathroom and it looks perfect. Not my house below... - my bathroom is that kind of soft blue grey in the picture so it contrasts well and gives a nice focal point. Having gone in the bathroom though it is clear that there's crap stuck to the floor I need to try and get off - and there's some bits of bare plaster showing on the ceiling. In an ideal world I'd get someone to take the bathroom ceiling light off so I could clean the crap out out of it before getting them to put it back up for me.
I'm currently back to trying to tackle things in very short bursts. DD's room is nearly there - but I've just uncovered a weights bench and weights in the corner so I need to think about where to put them. I'd forgotten she had those. They might fit in the wardrobe if I swap some stuff around. I'm worried she may have damaged my floor with the weights though. The window frame needs a good clean - and I'm debating unsticking her insect proof netting so it's ready for the photos but I may leave that to the last minute so it's less of an issue to her.
I got a Mr A delivery tonight - so going to have some chips and tikka masala. Looking forward to that.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well done on returning the unwanted items. Picture is nice. Remember your house is still a home, so it doesn't need to be absolutely perfect everywhere. I followed your advice Jwil and left the weights where they were - I put the bench and barbell in her wardrobe though - and put a mirror in that corner on top of her laundry basket to distract from what I left behind. In theory DD's going to come back and help on Monday night. Let's hope... She wasn't particularly happy about me moving her stuff in her room - but I put a load of her stuff in a drawer and put some plants out on mirrored circles to make it prettier. Unsurprisingly she wants to re-examine the question of £ for next month. I feel more comfortable her reducing it now she's move a load of her stuff elsewhere.
Busy day:- I took a broken fan and bin bag to the tip.
- I took 3 bags of stuff to charity.
- I bought 2 summer dresses for £30 from BonM.
- I had my ECG today (for meds check) - it was fine.
- I wanted to reward myself with a meal at my fave Italian but it was shut - so settled for jacket spud at garden centre instead.
- I bought some more plants, pots and mirrored circles.
- I've done a bit more in DS, DD's and my room.
- Put the washing on.
- Watered the garden
- DD and her BF moved the desk out of DS's room and into the garage for me which is a major milestone.
- Watched episodes of a crime series.
- Finish clearing DS's room - not much left to do now hopefully.
- Finish sorting the laundry basket of stuff I took into my room. Find homes for stuff or donate/trash.
- Finish sorting my art room
- Tidy my WFH space
- Cleaner to clean and tidy everywhere
- Return most of the stuff I bought yesterday - and stop my spending spree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Check what EA wrote about house to see if I agree with it / what I need to change
- Ring mortgage company and check portability
Although in an ideal world I would redecorate any rooms I haven't got to yet - I think overall my home has never looked this good. I was scrolling through some photos from a few years ago and it was really neglected pre divorce. So happy with the changes I've made.
I've saved the view form the house I want to buy as my home screen picture on my phone. Really hoping it works out for me.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Another day with loads of progress, well done! Your house must be quite unrecognisable by now!
Buying lots of stuff and then returning it is a bit of a timewaster, is it worth waiting until you've finished the sorting? Then you could do a list of what you need and do it all in one sweep?"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
