I've had to really get my head around the pro-nouns as my son was non-binary for a while and has since come out as trans so we've had to change from she/her to he/him. I'm ok with it but husband struggles.
Has been chucking it down here again though brightened up today so I'm hoping to walk into town later. I was in a charity chop at the weekend and saw a book but didn't buy it - but I wish I had, so I'm going back for it today. It was called something like Eco Christmas Craft and was about Christmas craft from stuff you'd normally bin or recycle - cardboard packaging etc. Hope they still have it.
Anyway am glad its bedroom day as our bedroom is so cluttered. So my list looks like this:
- sort odd sock pile
- bag up clothes for charity shop
- declutter shoe pile
- declutter top of my drawer unit
- declutter top of hubby's drawer unit
- put suitcases (from August!) back where they belong
- get husband to move desk out
- sort out bedside table drawer
- sort out bedside table cupboard
- dust bedroom
- hoover
Not a big list but the decluttering will take a while. And hubby still in bed so I can't start til her gets up!
Happy Wednesday, and hugs to those in need

Morning all
I am at home for the next two hours so I should be flying, but instead I’m on the sofa watching tv with a cuppa. My body and brain are rather exhausted, I may snooze until paid stuff.

Busy morning, took DS to work, and then finished a section of cross-stitch. Put the bread machine on and did some tidying in the bedroom ...

Squeak at home.. she has had a bit of a mental breakdown, has been self harming and resisted a bag search when she told another child there was a knife in her bag.. I just brought her home for ease of sanity.
I've loaded the TD and done snuff all else.

I've been discharged - yay! A friend who broke her knee last year was very sniffy with me yesterday when I said I'd stopped doing the post op exercises a few weeks ago. As I told her, I did them immediately after the plaster came off but no longer saw the point once I'd got all the flex back that I possibly could and was walking about on it. Consultant today tested the flex, was very approving, and then told me I could stop using the walking boot now. I told him I hadn't used it much after the first 10 days or so after the plaster came off and asked about the couple of places my foot was sore when walking and was that normal. He said he didn't know because no-one had ever been that specific before! I asked all the questions I wanted to ask about day/section hiking the Dartmoor Way (spring/early summer) and Hadrian's Wall (late summer/early autmn) next year and he said as long as I watched my step on uneven ground and took it slowly initially I should be fine. Very happy with all of that. The aches and pains I have in my foot, right leg and back are all as a result of waking up the muscles that did quite literally nothing for a couple of months, apparently, and that can't be rushed. (Parrots and ibuprofens get me through.) I can't seem to find the right pace, and it seems the only way I can find out if I'm doing too much is to stop when it hurts or I get snappy because I'm over-tired. Word of advice: Don't break your ankle this badly when you're over retirement age. It's a right pain and age slows down the healing process considerably. (Beloved managed to sneak a quick pic of my xray when no-one was about.)We've been to Morribunds, my first trip to a supermarket since early August. My goodness prices have gone up in three months. The fridge is satisfyingly full of lovely veg and the freezer full of lovely fish, meat and ding cuisine for two nights this coming week. Scrap store stuff loaded into the car for a drop off tomorrow. I'm too tired to make it to the post office now to post Flylady Christmas cards and something else but I will get there at some point this week.Better is good enough.8

Good evening 😁
Pigpen hugs to you and Squeak
HB well done on the discharge. Take it easy & listen to your body!
Paid stuff done today. Flying consisted of WMx1, cleaning up cat pee (why??!!) & putting the DW. Oh, and picking up 1000 toys!
Can I ask for some advice/recommendations? I have seen a v@x spot cleaner. It can be used on upholstery, carpets, stairs, etc. I have a larger machine which is heavy & a chore to use. I had the carpets professionally cleaned about 2 months ago, but the kitten keeps having "accidents" (nothing accidental about it!! 🤬) Has anyone used one of these? I am thinking it would be easy to use/store, and I could just spot clean where I need to (behind the armchair!) The reviews are good (all 4s & 5s).
On the subject of purchasing household items, I read a which article about the pros/cons & costs of various ways of drying washing. It was quite interesting. If I can find it again I will share a link! asb I thought of you - for a lot of washing a heat pump TD was probably the best option, although the priciest initial outlay.
I need to start writing my Christmas cards. I missed the FL ones this year 😪 (sorry!)
Hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them8 -
Hi all
Just in from paid stuff part 2. Not a fan of these split days, but no choice about it. Took a parcel to post office a bit late this afternoon, supposed to return this jumper I bought within 14 days of receipt, its more like three weeks but it will be OK wont it?
DS1 has messaged in his usual non-dramatic way and said "Mother I am dying". Flu like symptoms it seems, "should you ring the hospital just in case?" "Nah it'll be right". His next treatment is Monday so not sure whether they will do it. He doesnt want to do a Covid test either.
We have very little food in the house and flying has been very minimal today. I should get a bit of free time tomorrow. I wont be late to bed.9 -
(((Hugs))) to pigpen and Squeak.
Congratulations HB - you have done really well to get your muscles back into good working order so quickly. My DH is still limping badly, 5 months after his hip replacement (and yes, his legs *are* both the same length).
The gardener came this morning and cleaned out the front gutter, with me repeatedly emptying the bucket of moss and leaves into the trug and passing it back up to him. Then I helped him put up the Christmas lights in the front garden. Yes, I know it's early, but he only comes once a fortnight, and anyway I'm not switching the lights on until the real start of Advent (this year its 27th November). I need some brightness to chase away the gloom of these dark, wet days.
DGD1+2 came this afternoon, put up my tree and started decorating it. Ditto re lights.
Rosie had another walk with the dog walker this afternoon and enjoyed it.
I also sent emails, made phonecalls including a "just 5 minutes" conversation with DS2 which extended to 15 minutes,, rearranged coffee dates with two friends, revised my to-do list, cooked our main meal midday, collected DGD1+2 from school (three villages away), fed them and us, and took them to DS1's workplace for their swimming lessons. Somehow all that filled my day.
K is still in horse piddle but hoping to be discharged tomorrow. I need to do baking for the church fayre and am hoping that she does not call me to collect her just as I've put cakes in the oven.

Great news HB.
Forgot to say a couple of days ago, a flyparcel arrived - thank you.
Not actually much to report today - finished and emailed a report; went to uni. The NB student was lovely, had to think hard when I asked if the preference was for he or they; finally decided on they. I was unimpressed with their previous school who wrote 'moderate learning difficulties' on one of the forms they shared with me; no such thing - a bright young person with severe dyslexia!
Tomorrow's student has a name I cannot possibly pronounce so I hope they say it slowly to the admin, or have a short version; it took me ages to label up their test papers as I had to keep checking the spelling; Nigerian I think.
Emptied DW.
Dropped into M@t@l@n to change something I bought yesterday, but it was shut.
Well that was hardly worth reporting, was it?Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9
