Octopus Saving Session

Oh, I thought that was an error on their part. I am surprised any supplier is permitted to pocket money paid to them for the purpose of passing on to customers. I know Octopus does its lottery thing, but that's different than keeping it for themselves. Suppliers that pocket money from the scheme should be barred from bidding in future events.

Hmm, that response would be a lot more plausible had they given any sort of advanced notice about it.

Huh, didn't realise Eon had taken over National Grid in the last few weeks. Not sure there's any other explanation as to why they've appointed themselves in charge of arbitrarily changing the clearly prescribed and published rules for the DFS events that all the other providers have had no issues following so far.
Of course that's if we're taking that comment from their community at face value.
My understanding is that the suppliers offering the service are generally already taking an "admin fee" as some percentage of what they get paid for each unit saved, and then pass the rest down the the customers who do the actual saving. This would suggest that they can already benefit more from customers who maximise their IDA period use anyway, but as Eon are seemingly playing their own game here why not just take all the IDA savings and give the customers the remaining pennies.
In any case it's certainly an odd move seeing as it's not their scheme to try to improve nor is it costing them anything to pay out higher amounts.
It is at least consistent with their absolutely awful handling of the scheme from the start, despite being in the initial closed trial with Octopus many months before this "proper" version of things kicked off.Moo…1 -

Some including Eon Next and British Gas have chosen not to ................0 -

_Sam_ said:I wonder in what way removing the IDA "improves and benefits more customers".It could be effectively argued that the current system is flawed, but one participant unilaterally deciding to run their own calculations is not the way to go. Perhaps they were trialling this with NG's blessing, but if that were the case, wouldn't they have wanted to update their customers about this important 'improvement'?Ultimately, I doubt there is much any customer could do about this. The scheme hasn't much longer to run and will no doubt be subject to some change if and when it returns.0

But yes if I were in their scheme I would be questioning the legality and morality of what they have done.

Isn't the trial an agreement between NG and the participating supplier (seeing as they have to bid into the NG scheme)? NG have laid out the terms under which they will pay the supplier, but does it actually say anywhere what the supplier must pass on to their customers? I mean, it clearly isn't good customer service, but I'm not sure if it is actually illegal?4.3kW PV, 3.6kW inverter. Octopus Agile import, gas Tracker. Zoe. Ripple x 3. Cheshire0
