Octopus Saving Session

I see National Grid ESO have asked for a coal plant to be warmed up for tomorrow.
"The ESO has issued a notification that we will warm one of our five winter contingency coal units for potential use on Tuesday 7 March."
"This notification is not confirmation that the unit will be used on Tuesday, but that it will be available to the ESO, if required."
With a cold snap forecast, I guess they're expecting a lot of demand.0 -

Anyone else that calculates their savings had difficulty agreeing with Octopus for the session on 21st Feb?
On the 8 sessions between 30th Nov and 13th Feb my calculation was within 1p of the Octopus calculation on all but one, the exception was 3p out.
However, on the 21st Feb session my calculation differs from the Octopus calculation by over 20p. So not enough to get excited about, but just wondering why the discrepancy. Has anything changed in the calculation?0 -

But they did peak at c2GW around teatime - when the price hit £1950 according to grid.iamkateWind hit a low of 1.3GW at one stage before watched the news last night - less than 5% of 28GW installed capacity. It might have dipped even further.0

Interesting that with at least two test sessions left they didn’t schedule one at what seems like the ideal time for one to put a dent in at least some of the demand seeing as they’ll have to happen at some point this month anyway.
Purely speculation on my part but I wonder if the remaining test dates have already been predetermined to take place another day, or perhaps NG are expecting even worse supply/demand conditions later on and are looking to get the most value from the last tests?Moo…0
