Octopus Saving Session

Moved EV charging to the three hour window for the first time. 32.56kWh. Worst case scenario, I’ll have to pay peak rate. Will see if gamble pays off.gadgetmind said:I managed 31.45kWh in that three hours and it will be zero for 9AM to 10AM. No energy taken that wouldn't have been drawn anyway, and most of it saved for later in batteries.

Pure saving session reward - 1,240 octopoints worth £1.55, had to be away during the IDA
Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent0 -
My score finally updated, just over 15 quid on the first attempt. Grateful for the understanding of shifting into the adjustment period as learned from here!

Does anyone have a source for demand/generation data to see if the IDA windows are having a noticeable spike in demand?0

Going back to the weekdays previous, the temperature was lower so there's no direct comparison. Once today's 9-10 numbers are up it may be more apparent if it had any effect.
3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux1 -
I just got £76 gross for the 24th and about £10 to take off for the electric used at peak rather than off peak.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Hopefully the electric company wont think you've started a "speciallised" hydroponics farm.gadgetmind said:I just got £76 gross for the 24th and about £10 to take off for the electric used at peak rather than off peak.

Thanks for that. It's pretty clear that there isn't a significantly negative impact from the extra IDA window usage, especially not starting at 5am; there is a bit of a bump on the 23rd at 2:30pm while demand drops off on the afternoon of the 23rd (ignoring the weird dip in the middle of the day, which is presumably an error). There always seems to be a plateau at 8am on weekdays so it's unclear if the end of the IDA window had an impact. The 9-10 actual saving session doesn't seem to have made a noticeable dent in the normal ramp up of demand either.Raxiel said:Petriix said:Does anyone have a source for demand/generation data to see if the IDA windows are having a noticeable spike in demand?Go to 'explore the data' with a desktop browser (not sure it shows in mobile) and you can get a graph of previous usage. The evening peaks on the 23rd/24th looked a little lower than previous days, although it's hard to say how much was normal variance. You could see that the 'coal' section didn't get any wider so they were able to avoid ramping them up above what had been (presumably) their standby output.Looking at the morning peak for yesterday, it was higher than the 29th, but that's probably more to do with it being Monday. I see some people making decent money from this now the grid's silly formula got worked out, I stayed honest though and have just under £2 so far.
