I ordered a £60 iron using the £25 handbag code and the new customer £15 code.
My confirmation email showed the £25 off, but not the £15...presumably because the £15 was going onto the account I had joined up for.
When the iron showed up on Saturday, I had only been credited for the £15.

I emailled empire regarding this, and recieved a reply on monday stating only 1 code can be used per order.

I phoned them last night regarding this, and after 25 mins minutes of speaking to one very abrupt girl and then alledly her supervisor, I got no further.
However according to the two of them.

1. Only 1 code per order, it says so on the promotions (where? I am looking at your terms and conditions, no answer) It's there, I know it is.

2. The website only takes one code. (So...erm.. how did I manage to enter 2 and they recognised that fact by changing the reduction)

3. We only give you the 1st code you enter when the order is placed. (Ok..so you either accept one or you don't!)

4. 1 code only to be used, but you can use the £25 one on another order as I can't see an end date. (But I want to use it now as I cannot see why I am unable to)

5. I've never heard of handbag.com and that code is not ours. (again, it worked..and you have just said I can use it against further orders!)

6. We have the disclaimer regarding codes on all our codes, we cannot be held responsible if handbag did not use our disclaimer. (Fair enough, but why yet again does your site not tell me I can't use 2 on the advert for the one I used. I have to say, there is indeed a disclaimer on the jacket voucher part)

7. Do you have a catalogue? (I do now, as it came with my first item purchased from you), in the literature there you will find that you can only use 1 code per order. (I didn't have your catalogue when I ordered, and despite my glasses being good, they aren't that good to see Wakefield Distribution centre).

I have since done screen grabs of the original handbag page, the jacket code, the T&C for using the £15 code and saved the whole new webpage. Saved the webpage of Terms and Conditions.

Anyone else wanting to have them, you are welcome to email me for them.
I also have emailled http://www.asab.org.uk/asa/ regarding this, and forwarded a copy to redcats / empire also.

Yes, I might be over-reacting, but if they fail to offer a disclaimer this is what happens.
HTML or javascript can be written for webpages so only 1 code can be taken , quite a simple answer really.

Look... Cant you JUST be happy that you got 25 pound off? I dont see why you would be upset.. Greed? Im not sure.. but how can a company offer something for 20 quid when it maybe cost them more.

It really bugs me when companys offer something and people just want to take the micky..

I'm actually sending the item back, as I have no intention of paying £45 for an iron.
The only reason i bought it was because of the codes.

Yes, I may be greedy by wanting both, but they should also ensure their site is clear about what can and can't be done with codes. And they clearly aren't.

Their customer services staff also leaves a lot to be desired. I have both staff members names and I am not afraid to use them.

I am their customer, as are many others. I did not deserve to be spoken to in the manner and tone I was last night. I work in a customer facing role myself, and it is appalling customer service to talk to customers like that. (A lot was missed out from above)

I have spoken to them and they seemed ok.. i used the code 5 times. 5 different times and they are ok with it they are ok..

but 45 for a iron.. i get ya point lol
