I think we were switched to credit account as they said the meters we had were not compatible with BG.
When on PAYG we had smart meters, topped up using an app. Usually put about £50 per week on the electric meter (as said previously we have a hot tub which is why the electric was high then but it's been switched off since July) and average about £20 per week on gas.
I did wonder if the meters were zero'd due to us changing from PAYG to credit account

Found it in the FAQ, it seems for some meters BG is unable to support prepiad and they moved them to credit.

What meters do you have (Type) and have you received information how to read them? In other words, are you sure that what you gave them is really the meter reading?

What happened to the existing credit on the prepaid meter?

Looking at Nabuh's gas tariffs, there are quite a few, but the Smart Reader one (The Lizzy) I can find puts gas units at 2.7-2.9ishp. As you probably now pay around 10p for that same usage, so that £20 a week will now be nearer £100 instead.

It does seem that you are a very high user, as someone else suggested, I think a fully energy audit will be useful to you.

    meter readings for 10/9/2022 gas 000006.30  electric 0000035.8  then 9/11/2022 gas 000342.12  electric 0001406.7
Are these readings that you have taken from your meter, or are they smart meter readings from your BG account, or something else?
If you didn't take these readings yourself, can you check the actual readings on your meters and also check that the serial numbers of your meters match the serial numbers shown on your BG account?

the readings are from the actual meters, I've taken the readings but also took pictures incase I read them wrong, and sent them to BG aswell.
They've arranged a call back in a week and want me to take meter readings so that they can check, although I've already done this at the beginning of October and they were adamant the bill was right

it was the lizzy tarrif we were on with Nabuh. Are there any calculators or apps that can help with an energy audit? I'm worried what the gas bill is going to go up to when we start using the heating if it's this bad at the moment!!!!!

I would start by having a read through of this thread, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6379621/oct-price-cap-increase-likely-to-push-energy-bill-to-over-10k-for-a-family-of-4/p1

It will explain how they worked out what was racking up their usage, and how they managed to cut it down fairly swiftly too. If you have any questions or need any further help, the making a list of what exactly you have plugged in/turned on and putting in this thread will help other people here in giving some further guidance on what changes you can make.

Post the pictures of the meters
  • There have been some reports of smart meter hexadecimal errors when gas data is pulled. These though are usually in the 30minute usage XML file that accompanies the index reading. The hexadecimal code usually equates to zero usage and it normally fails the billing validation process.
