    Hi Folks
Oldies are all fed again:D and there was enough leftover veggies and potatoes to make a big pot of soup for lunches using the stock from the beef too:D

Janey51 - Talking about how women think..... I have a resident that insists on tidying her flat right through and putting in her teeth and doing her make up each night before she goes to be just in case she dies in her sleep:confused:
She insists she would be mortified if anyone saw her without her slap on:rotfl:

Hi again folks, not been on for a week as I've been away. Have been watching all my spending though and am doing much better. And I've saved a lot of electricity.
Is anyone else having a bad time with British Gas? Some months ago I changed from BG and got 2 online bills...they owed me for gas and I owed them £47.87 for elec. I got a cheque for £25 and a letter saying I owed nothing else and goodbye. Aweek later I got a demand from them for £47 and a threat from debt collectors. I sent them a cheque, a copy of their "thankyou here's your £25" letter and a request for an explanation. They cashed my cheque, sent me another cheque ( for the amount I'd sent them ie £47) and (in a separate envelope) a threat of court action for £47. I am at my wits end and am tempted to go to court...sorry it's off topic but I needed to have a little rant

I'd be tempted to let them take me to court just to watch them make fools of themselves but perhaps too much of a risk. Also I just googled "director british gas" and it came up with his name... Or tell the newspapers...

Sorry. Perhaps you could see what Citizens Advice have to say - for a sensible answer.

How infuriating, Sashacat! I agree with the advice to contact the CAB. They help with lots of cases like this. Many years ago I worked for them and sometimes companies did take that bit more notice when they got a letter with a CAB heading. Mind you, that was in the days before call centres when you could actually contact a named person who knew what you were talking about.

I was just about to ask a similar question: ScottishPower owe me nearly £100 and I want to switch my Dual Fuel elsewhere, will I get a cheque for the money I am owed? Or does that get given to the new supplier?

Ring them up with a meter reading and ask for a cheque for any credit balance. They usually do this within 3 working days and are actually quite good at this bit (I left them because I was sick of having to do this every 3 months because they wouldn't reduce my direct debit).

Just hold off on switching until you've requested the cheque. They should send it to you if you change supplier but most companies seem to be a bit more proactive if you're a current, and not ex, customer.
