Hello peeps, was just updating on the posts in the grocery challenge and felt compelled to point out a particular post and say that I must now find out more:

I think that is quite cook really, but would it work out cheaper? i mean look at how much oil you would have to buy!!!

Yes, yes, Grab it with both hands and fling it back down south - I should've known it'd be up there with you; just need to get a job in Scotland :D (although I was told I'd have to retrain, b***er that!)

    Hi all,

Quickly checking in as I have 20 minutes to get LO to bed before I will have a truly enjoyable hour watching Crufts on TV. One year when LO is big enough I will make sure I have a seats in the main ring for the whole 4 days and will be staying in the hotel nearby.

Janey51: Congrats for your DMP and charity shop finds

Jay1: I share your dreams about self cleaning house, my carpets are covered with black dog hair and the original colour has been buried deep underneath

Bails: I am sure your lesson went well. I have sent you pm if you haven't got it please let me know.

Whitewing: I also agree with The_Cat about your MIL

Elantan: Well done re your reiki course. I have been thinking for awhile about training to do animal reiki and will definitely start making enquiries come Monday about going ahead with this. HMRC owes me money so I need to chase them. That money might just be enough for the training.

Nykmedia: Next Friday on the Money programme (BBC2 at 7pm) the subject is bio fuels.

Ok, I have found three jobs I could apply but then made a complete 180 degree turn and decided to follow my dream of working with animals and have put a card in the local shop about dog walking and pet feeding services. Fingers crossed that something comes out of that. And that gives me time to list the rest of my books so that should increase my income. I am also planning on setting up a website promoting animal welfare, right animal care and animal rescue organisations and sell animal books (mostly as an affiliate) through that site but that is a long term plan not something that can happen over night. So yes thanks to all of you I am starting to tick items on my wish list quicker than I thought.

Ten minutes to put LO to bed - has to be a short story tonight. Will catch up with you tomorrow.

It wouldn't be 'Where is the scissors?' but you can say 'Where's the scissors?' - clear now? :D As dialect it's fine but they are plural officially.

I got a big cauli for 49p in Lidl the other week, made a massive cauliflower cheese, it was yum!
OMG, OH just told me he spent £35 on a train ticket to London, for the day!!! He said he can't really afford it but he'd promised his mate... When I pointed out it was almost 1/100th of our budget, he was quite surprised  Thank goodness it's coming out of his money not ours...

Oh Marru, how wonderful!! :T I wish you every success with it! (Haven't got PM, will go and clear my Inbox :o)

Janey, excellent finds in the charity shops, you've inspired me to have another browse next week :D

    Do you mean cool?;) !
I buy the same amount of oil as you would petrol/diesel/lpg. I have a 60 litre tank and I fill it with 55L of veg oil and 5L of diesel (If I'm not being a skinflint and decide not to get any diesel!). I got about 300km on my first tank. It's a little thirsty but at 56p a litre + VAT it's cheaper than DERV.

Bails' Mojo spotted running wild with a herd of haggis in the hills of Scotland. After desperately seeking solace in the fact that her pupils were suffering from Friday sickness, Bail's assumed her Mojo had just wandered off but remained nearby. However, eyewitness accounts have provided conclusive evidence that the escaped Mojo has managed to cover several hundred miles during its northward journey. When asked about the prospect of retraining in an effort to recapture her lost Mojo, Bails replied, "B***er that!"

It remains to be seen if the owner even wants the wayward Mojo returned if (or when) it is re-captured. No reward has yet been offered for its safe return. :rotfl:

Bails I knew what you meant. Anything is OK in dialect but "proper English" has to be "Where are the scissors?" IMHO. :)

Nyk/Kaz2904 Before my present car we had an old Citroen AX Diesel. I never got round to daring to run it on vegetable oil but I wish I had. My current diesel car is too new to run on pure vegetable oil. :(

    Evening folks,
Just been catching upon today's posts, lots going on with everyone:D
Oldies all fed and watered and sent off to their flats for the night so can have a bit of quiet time now hopefully.

Elantan congrats on your reiki course,:T

Marru - Good luck with the animal care and dog walking, have you any sheltered schemes nearby? My association has recently allowed residents to have dogs on their courts as companions and have seen several adverts for dog walking services on the noticeboards at courts I have visited. Many old people love the companionship of an animal but are not mobile enough to do the exercising themselves. Might be worth a few calls to local courts:confused: or contact your local age concern as they often recommend services to older people who enquire about what is available locally.

Janey51 - Hope OH picture turns out to be worth a bundle:D

Nyk - Can't wait for the dehydrator to arrive, will def be trying dried apple, and other fruits that can be added to yoghurt, porridge etc. Mushrooms are supposed to be good to do also. Hope to dry any excess from garden and also herbs etc - remains to be seen how good it is yet
