Hello to all and welcome back Mumzy :T
I have now completed month one and succeeded in making today and yesterday NSDs because I couldn't face any further expenditure from my January budget. The grocery bill is well underway and I refused to buy biscuits this week - I even have cookie dough made up in a plastic bag in the fridge - just break a piece off and back a few cookies anytime the oven is on - can't get fresher than that!
Anyway, here is my entire month's spend:
Editing it in as lost message first time :rotfl: BRB with my January spending diary!
Credit Card £59.02
2 x oil filled radiators £44.97
eBid charity auctions £3.00
Parcel delivery £7.04
Electric hand blender £3.89
Gifts £49.23
Groceries/Cleaning/Toiletries £86.09
Home Insurance £52.40
INternet access £24.99
Utilities - Electricity £419.44
TOTAL £750.07
Balance - £3249.93
335 days left at:
£9.70 per day
£67.90 per week
£281.30 for February
The above reflects average figures, not targets.
Phew! I think I've managed to edit this without losing it!! :T:j

Nyk, am going to do measurements tomorrow morning.
I'm going to get a 25kg sack of potatoes from the village corner shop for my grocery challenge, so that will be some extra exercise as I carry them home (normally less than 5 min walk, but with that weight:eek:)
I can see my local shop from here, a few hundred metres away... I got my DS to collect the potatoes on way back from his work :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.

Spent total of £16.06 today. The snow and gales should have discouraged me from going out but, ever the pessimist, I am worried we find ourselves in the situation we were in following the huge blizzard in Feb 2001 when we were snowed in for 2 weeks  So I have bought heart warming things to make more soup and stews. Also had to check my old Mum was OK in case I can't get out. I took her one of my ultrafrugal chicken pasties. She phoned later to ask where I bought the gorgeous pasty from
A truly frugalicious triumph as she is very fussy.
I was sorely tempted to buy an ickle ickle bar of chocolatebut I was strong and resisted. I am defrosting a little square of sponge cake I made last week.
Apologies for talking about cake to members of the FFC.:o
Tomorrow, a lot of my DDs and SOs leave my account so my spend will shoot up. Probably a good thing I won't be able to get near any shops.
I am going to settle down in front of the TV, log burner blazing, cat and blanket on my knee, cake and coffee, and watch "The Tudors" on DVD (free Mr T trial for 3 months:D)
Any bets on when the power goes out :rolleyes:0 -
OK, January over.
I have £3,308 left for the rest of the year, which is
£9.80 a day or
£286 for February.
I bought a train ticket today which was £35. A return was £73 but 2 singles cost £35! I've got half back in piggy points, which is fab and will be used for Boots vouchers at some point.
Looking at my statement for January, I can see £224 which either won't be paid out again in February, or one off stuff like the bits I've put away for next Christmas.
I have 1 social 'do' in February (hence the train tickets). I'll be buying a pressie (ssshh, it's for another MSE'er) and probably a bottle of something strong and alcoholic tasting to take with me.

Ooh I am addicted to this already, with everyone being so nice to me!
Finished under target for jan, yay!
But got an evil extra electricity bill today, for underestimations since october  but I can't be bothered dealing with that until tomorrow, don't want my beautiful jan figures ruined!!!I think I'm gonna start calling gas/electricity once a month with accurate readings so I can plan all out all my pennies!
Todays frugalities - made ice lollies out of my bunch of bananas that were going brown, so that they didnt get wasted.
Got my fabulous discount cards in the post, because I've just started being a full-time volunteer. I get money off travel and lots of discounts (think its a bit like having a student card again)
Does anyone have any ideas what i can do with a huge red cabbage? I bought it cos it was cheap in lidl, but I have no idea what to do other than fashion it into some form of soup. It is about the size and weight of my head...
PS - nyk, do I have to PM you to be added to the official list of officialness? or shall I just sit tight? ta xThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yay! Just added up my figures, spent £187.12 in Jan, £100 under budget :-) I'll need that extra next month I think - trip to Paris, then moving to Swindon for yet another short term contract. Still, it's a fun job for 3 months, cleaning ERNIE the original premium bond machine!!!Live on £11k in 20110
