ATTENTION THE_CAT
This isn't a challenge about keeping to a weekly or monthly budget, so don't despair just yet. If you take a look at my signature, then you'll see that in January, alone, I have already spent more than 2 months of my annual budget but it will even itself out as the months progress. We all have unexpectedly larger than life bills thrown at us from all angles, the challenge is in dealing with them and seeing how they impact on our overall annual budget.
Will post my January assessment and February reassessment soon, just not been brave enough to look at it yet. But at least I have my new gym membership sorted out - the frugal fitness club :rotfl:
PS: Just realised this is only the 30th, still another day to go!! PHEW!!!I reserve the right not to spend.

Thanks Nyk
You are right of course, I'm just panicking a bit because I don't seem to have had any of the larger than life bills yet and the money is STILL dripping away!
On a more positive note my car insurance is due and I've just checked. With Quidco's help I can shave about £70 off from last year's bill:beer:so maybe it will all even out in the end.
Bails - that is a lovely offer, thank you. I live in Essex so not near enough I'm afraid but thanks anyway. I've decided to get some new hiking boots for him and the rest I should be able to make do with. Younger son has some waterproof trousers. The are too short but will make him tuck them in his (well Ok they are mine but who cares!) hiking socks. Jacket - he can use his school coat and I will put the washing machine on red alert and put it all back together for Monday!
Thanks again:A0 -
I have managed to buy an entire outfit for my sister's civil partnership do for the princely sum of £15.49 -
Aril, what can I say?...RESPECT!
I'm amazed by what people manage to achieve on this thread, but surely this is an outstanding example of (new word coming up) frugalglam!'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

I want to get fit, but dont need to lose weight, if anything I have been battling to gain weight (manage to stay around the 7st 7lb for past year which is great for me, as this time last year I was 6st 8lbs) After half term I will be cycling on college days again, so 3miles 3 days a week, plus I am hoping to start salsa lessons too as long as they are under £2.50 a week or free. Will be double checking about them later when I start my sign language course this evening. Guess for me the idea of fitness is improving my breathing (used to smoke so suffer short breath still even a year on) toning myself and hopefully building a bit of muscle bulk up. Oh and improving my posture. So do I qualify to join in the FFC?19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

Penny2myname - yes you qualify, as it's not about weight loss, it's more about frugal fitness. Ignore the lose a foot part, though, as you may find that by muscle development you actually gain in those areas. Most of us need to set the wobbly bits loose before we can measure up to the muscle test, though
If it helps any, I struggled to maintain between 7st 6lb and 8st for years when younger. I did have a rather hyperactive lifestyle back then, though.

I'm not even signed up for this challenge but I seen to have a bad case of frugalitis
I spend the best part of 30 mins yesterday arguing with myself (silently
) in Sainsburys over whether to buy the tortellini i like versus the basics one which is 91p cheaper but mushroom flavour (yuck) and reduced (to 30p) cinnamon swirls... I ended up with mushroom basic pasta and no swirls
Wooooooohoooooo!! :T I managed to get out of there spending only 11.92 in total with no real need to buy anything except cheese this week! However I'm near a Tesco around 6pm today so may do a visit to see if there are any bargins to be had there for my freezer!
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
