    FRUGAL FITNESS CLUB MEMBERS' LIST

NO WEIGHING REQUIRED! FREE FOR ALL TO JOIN

This is a frugal fitness club, we aren't weight watching because we don't like what we see (and I don't have scales). :rotfl: We're just aiming to take a little more exercise and entertain thoughts of frugal 'body sculpting'. See HERE for how to get your figure (post 2831)

I have included the post number for this part of the challenge in my signature to remind me where it is. MSE forum police don't allow links in signatures, but at least I'll know which post to update at end of February :D

This exclusively frugal fitness club is open for one month only - 1st to 29th February 2008. Exercise is of your own choice, so long as it's FREE. Suggestions so far - pedalling the clothes horse (it was once an exercise bike), step machine, mini trampoline, exercise contraptions of all descriptions, puppy walking, cycling, walking, stair climbing, jogging, dancing, bouncing on the spot, pilates, exercise DVDs & videos, moving furniture .... all FREE

Please note that this is NOT a diet or weight loss challenge - this is about getting a bit of regular exercise without having to pay to join the gym. It's about getting the figures balanced :rotfl:

It's FREE, kit out your own gym - (try Free Cycle) FREE.

Anyone spotted any free pedometers recently?

    To be read as:
Member number, Name, Method of free exercise, Overall start figure - you can choose to "lose a foot" of wobble or gain some "body-sculpting" if you have no wobbly bits :rotfl:

Let me know your user name, method of daily free exercise and overall figure. The figure is not compulsary on here, so long as you know what it is yourself and keep your "frugalometer" up to date.

    Can anyone develop a FRUGALOMETER?

Edited in - Too late, I just did! :T It's the chart of measurements used to start this challenge, update it same time each day or week and that will 'meter' the changes :rotfl:

NYK - do try the comping. Its loads of fun as well as lucrative. If you read my sig, you will see I have won more than I have spent on this challenge this month :D:D

Is there a particular type of competition you enter or do you go through one of the competitions websites? Am going to search the forums for the comping thread on here. I know I spotted it before but never save the directions :rotfl:

Fitness club Much as I would love to join, I have got an unfair advantage as I had weight loss surgery last year and am now very sylph-like (with my clothes on :o So, how could I monitor my progress:confused:
Incidentally, you can get a free tape-measure at your local Swedish store if you have one ;)

A thought. Is weight loss a frugal past -time as you will need the extra poundage to act as insulation against the approaching Arctic blast:confused: I wonder what the calcuations would be for Fat Loss v Increased need for warmth.

I did see the fitness club post before it was cut off in its' prime :D

Okay, count me in on the FFC. I'm going to do walking and bopping on my mini-trampoline. At least 1 walk or 100 bops a day.

Was aiming to make lentil soup today in the slow cooker but forgot to soak the lentils. Does anyone know if it would be okay to do it without soaking on the basis that we could put the soup on this morning and we wouldn't eat until about 6pm? (ie if we did this we wouldn't be rinsing the lentils before using them).

Going on a six hour round trip on Sat (weather permitting) for work (basically a mini-conference so buffet lunch will be provided). We will be shopping at Lidls today or tomorrow. We want to make it a no spend day, so any ideas on what to take food-wise for breakfast and tea. I'm guessing we're best to take hot water in a flask so we can make either tea or coffee on the trip. OH and I are going, DS is stopping at aunty's.

I also imagine we'll greatly overestimate how much we'll actually eat so stuff that could be recycled at home would be great.

Expensive day yesterday with £180 car tax plus £72 for renewing my passport.

Tax credit form was posted last Wednesday. Does anyone know when we're likely to hear from them. I am expecting them to query one or two things on the form before they can process the claim.

Whitewing, the small red or brown lentils don't need soaking. The bigger green ones should be soaked but as they cook in 15 minutes after soaking I would expect them to cook over a long time in your slow cooker.

Now, real question. I've tried selling on ebay in the past and had very little success. Clearly I've tried to sell things people don't want. I know that posters on here sell on ebay, what do you put on there that sells?
  • Hi Nyk, please can I join the frugal fitness club? Measurements to follow!!!!!
  • £10.00 for me today on some gel tins for my firebowls I was given for christmas. They were the first ones I've bought and I won't use them that often so I bought the branded ones to start me off and then when I need to re-fill them I'll re-use the tins.

I'm going to do homemade tortillas tonight using the recipe on here! Should be lovely. there is lots of beef left over from yesterday and I've got a drawer full of onions and peppers.

I have added my totals again today and now I feel depressed! I thought I was doing pretty well but I have already spent nearly 1/12th of my years allowance and I haven''t spent any on the big things yet - car tax/insure birthdays christmas kids clothes etc. This is going to be so hard!

DS came home from his Duke of Edinburgh thing yesterday with a list of stuff he needs for a day out on Saturday - hiking boots, waterproofs, all sorts:mad: Don't get me wrong I want him to do it, but no chance of waiting for a bargain with that little notice. So I have to hit the shops AGAIN this week.

Will continue trying as even if I don't make it I will still have spent less than I would have otherwise I suppose. Still feeling a bit of a failure:o

Caught up but just a quickie for now to say - the cat , before you head out and buy the stuff you need, do try putting a Wanted on Freecycle or asking friends/family if they could lend you anything. The one thing I would say (expedition leader hat on here) is do invest in the walking boots if you can afford them, as these need to be a good fit. Get your DS to wear them in as much as possible before Saturday too, and depending on how serious the thing is he's doing, tape his feet in all the hotspots to avoid blisters from the new boots. If you lived near me I could lend you everything probably, we're kitted out in outdoors gear!
