  • Morning all, Thanks to Nyk's advice about 'baby shopping' I have just done a baby shop on boots.com for the last few bits I need and some nappies, I found a mother & baby club voucher which gave me £10 off a £50 :T spend plus free delivery :T and I got an extra £7.34 back in adv points :T and I used Pigsback too :T so all in all I spent £41 but this comes out of my grant so it won't be counted :j
    Feel alot happier now :D

Whitewing, 5.22am?? I thought I was bad with Chronic Frugalitis but yours is extreme, starting thinking out your finances at that time of the morning... it isn't frugal Christmas yet, you know! :rotfl: That's frugandalous trying to get a head start on us! I like this frugalanguage, it's so easy to learn. I am now bi-lingual, first language Frugalish, second is English :D Must start collating the dictionary soon.

Spend for today, so far, £3.85 for 2 cartons of milk and 2 tubs Can't Believe It's Not Butter (it's on BOGOF). Have a small gift to post this afternoon and then I've only got 2 more days to get through before month 2... roll on February, that's what I say! I'm dreading posting my monthly spending break-down on Thursday :o

On the frugal fitness club (I'll refer to it as the FFC) I don't have scales so I can't worry about being overweight. I worry more about being oversize and plan on losing a foot (approx. 30cm). It's much more fun than weightwatching :T All you do is start your chart (homemade) with all your measurements. It helps to draw a rough sketch with arrows pointing to where you measured :rotfl: I'll pop back on soon with an easy to follow FFC chart. Need to go check my clicks and cashback and fill in my spending diary :D

Morning all, some positive vibes on here this morning!
Here's my bit of good news - the school where I'm volunteering have just phoned to ask me to do my first supply lesson tomorrow! I'm scared and excited at the same time so I look a bit like a mixture of these two :j :D Not only is it my first big step back on the road to work but it'll also mean an extra £20 :T , hopefully every week! It'll be going into my savings of course, to help me out when one of my benefits stops later in the year.
Just off to see what I'll be teaching - got a sneaky suspicion it'll be Shakespeare, how cruel would that be for a first lesson back?! ;)
Have a great and frugal day everyone x

I just hope it isn't a Maths or Arithmetic lesson :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Look what you posted :D

Ha ha, I know - it was meant to be a mixture of the first two and me smiling at myself but it didn't really work lol!
I do get rather over-excited at these things, I loves my job I do! :o

  • I thought some of you might like this baked bean wedge, it's fab hot or cold and good in lunch boxes. I'm sure some of you could tweak it to make it a lot more frugalicious though. I always do a few at a time as they keep in the fridge for a few days.
    1 large can baked beans
    150g wholemeal breadcrumbs
    175g grated cheese
    1 finely chopped onion
    2tsps mixed herbs
    1 beaten egg
Mix beans and breadcrumbs together then add everything else to form a stiff dough, if too thick thin with a little milk. Pack into the base of a greased 7inch round cake tin and bake at 160c for about an hour. Serve hot or cold cut into wedges.:D

Surely they're not allowed to...surely! I heat downstairs with a wood stove but the price of logs is going up, too, so I'm always on the lookout for people throwing away wood...broken chairs, old skirting boards, anything they are willing to give away.....I embarrass my friends. :o

I read somewhere - senior can't remember moment :p - someone had an arrangement with a builders yard to collect the bits of wood that were too small to sell, they pretty much ran their heating with this wood supply. Anywhere that uses wood would be worth trying.

Just called in at Mr T as had been into town to transfer mortgage money. Put a weekly amount into a savings account then move it the day before mortgage due.

Tesco had haggis on promotion from £1.38 to £0.98 ending today(burn's night special) anyway true to form there weren't any left; however the assistant I spoke to told me to go to CS and ask for a "Promotion Promise Voucher", I picked up the other bits I needed, mainly flour for baking, Utterly Butterly 500g promotion 61p and headed off.

At CS asked for this voucher and was asked how many I wanted it for and it is now good for whenever I'm next in and they have sufficient stock for me to purchase.

Safeway used to do this, but I didn't know that Tesco did will ask next time I'm in Sainsburys as well.

I had planned on buying at least 6 as we use 2 of these per meal, and that would see us thru to the warmer weather (she hopes).

SOOOOOO basically if any of the supermarkets have a promotion and no stock ask for a Promotion Promise Voucher, then you still get the savings even after the promotion is ended.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

Oh, if you're anywhere near me  I've got loads of wood from my ancient kitchen that's just been ripped out! (Mainly some built in cupboards from 1903).
I'm getting a skip on Saturday to take it all away. The new kitchen's almost done now, cooker hood to be fitted this evening, then just the ceiling to be finished (no plaster where ancient cupboards used to be) and we can think about decorating:j

If you live near me (south east kent) I have a big fir tree that needs chopping down if you want to do that and have the wood :rotfl: DH has been promising me for about a year that someone was coming to do it
