ohhhhhh u only have 9 weeks to go woohoo...best not go on much as nyk hates up changing topic lol!! dead excited for you.

NYK didn't make the rules here :rotfl: I was just the one got stuff deleted :p I even went back and reread their rules and yes, apparently I had broken them. We should't go off topic, we can't add in links that advertise, we can't exchange details even to send freebies to one another and we can't include any links in our signatures without the permission of the site administrators. (I had included a link to the these forums in mine, hence the reason they changed - MSE admin deleted them and I got a nice email reminding me of the rules). Just a cautious note for anyone else, please make sure you try to keep threads on topic, try to keep your signatures to a maximum of 4 lines and don't include any links in your signature (not even to the forums) without getting permission from MSE first. They even have a list of usernames with permissions granted. Am I going off topic? It's a very cost effective way to keep on top of your very strict budget. Just play by the rules of this wonderful site so you don't get banned, suspended or reported to MSE officials. How's that? OK? :D Trying my best here :rotfl:

PS: Don't forget to let us know any news even if you have to wrap it in money-saving speak :)

Lollopybear....know what you mean about being sneaky. I try to make sure I use the loo in friends' houses to save me having to use my own toilet paper. And when I'm at work, I sometimes sneak a few sheets into my pocket to take home.

Janey, I'm so glad you posted this - I thought I was the only one! It's when I get excited that someone gives me some forms/paper etc. that has a paperclip on it that I can keep and reuse that I feel that I am a bit OTT.

Well if you have no life I guess that means I don't either :p

What about when you get papers (with a paperclip) given to you in a plastic wallet? That must be Euromillions! :rotfl: The first thing that goes through my head is: "Did they mean to give me this wallet? Can I keep it? I'll quickly put it in my bag so they can't ask for it back..." ;)

Don't forget free pens. And note books. And big envelopes that you can re-use.
Who walks round the house in the dark to save the electric?

When we had the house fire, all our winter logs went up in smoke. A week later I was raking through the ashes to see how many logs I could rescue. Eventually had a big pile of badly charred stumps stacked outside the front door which lasted a couple of weeks in the log burner. DH was mortified :o
Now I'm out ferreting around the fields gathering branches that the gales have brought down.

hiya worn out mum of two

your post gave me the heart to smile, not at your problems but with your bolognaise sauce antics,,hope you are not doing the sauce with one of those ready made up sauces out of a jar??? yuk

i simply chop up an oinion and garlic if you like and sweat it out with a little oil and wate very slowly until soft then i put into a blender with 2 tins of plum tomotoes with a little cold water and whizz up.

in the pan i buy asda passata carton about 29 p i think start heating that up, then add the sauce from the blender to the pan and i add seasoning and a teaspooon of good olive oil and some fresh herbs or dried if you have oregano or basil. Slowly simmer this. In another pan i pan dry some mince i do like a mixture of beef and pork about 500gram in total half of each, until browned, im a bit of fuss pot and i drain the mince and put some hot water over the mince to get rid of the watery residue from the pan after browning. I then add the mince to the sauce and continue simmering slowly for about 30 minutes ensuring being reduced slowly and should not be watery sauce but a robust consistency.

Cook your pasta in plenty of hot water, i weigh my pasta about 100 grams for adult and less per child, dont need to add the oil it doesnt help to non stick the pasta really, but plenty of hot water and sufficient size pan so the pasta can move in the water freely.

I hope this turns out well for you Buon Appettito,, dont forget a few shavings of parmesan on top, yum yum, i do hope!!

Ciao for now enjoy and let me know if has turned out okay for you, this should suffice for up to 4/5 people, if only for 2/3 just add 1 tin of plum tomatoes.

    Ciao Maz:beer:

Morning All (especially any ENGLISH folk who may be feeling undervalued, lol!)

A very quick post from me as I need to rush to school.

What have I learnt so far:

    1. The challenge is hard, but not impossible. And much more difficult without this thread.
    2. Budgeting monthly is fine but not when your car tax comes out at the end of Jan!
    3. I need to put more emphasis on weekly budgeting. (Will be rereading some old nykmedia posts, I think)
    4. The less you spend the less you have to monitor, so simplifying life is great
    5. I must not neglect earning money to concentrate on saving it!
    6. Small savings add up
    7. I can pick myself up and get back on track quicker now

Had a NSD yesterday and was proud that we resisted going to a cafe in town.
Found £8.50 tesco vouchers so am pleased.

Oops! Is that the time? Got to go! Have a fabulously successful Friday everyone!
