You get full tracking and delivery confirmation.
I personally don't see the need to pay extra for a signature.

Same here eBay have no requirement for a signature under a certain amount, £250 from memory.

Update! So after I have logged a complaint the issue seems to be fixed for now. Had two collections this week and both times the items got scanned at the van. I hope it stays like this!
  • I sold an item Wednesday evening.
Printed off a Tracked24 label Thursday, so eBay marked it as dispatched - but I informed the buyer there would be a delay due to the strikes etc.

RM strike was Thurs and Fri - I had the collection booked for Saturday (yesterday).
I had my doubts as to whether the postman would come, and I didn't want my buyer to wait even longer, so I went to the sorting office and dropped it off myself instead (postman did come in the end though!).
Was delivered the very next day (today) as promised - was surprised that it was delivered on a Sunday though.

Tracked 24 and Special Delivery are prioritised during strikes - so they are the only methods I use during, and around, strike days.

I sold something on Wednesday evening too and noticed that they only had Saturday onwards available for collection whereas usually you can do next day (Thursday) onwards, so I think they are automatically removing days where collections would be affected by strike action.

I have mine collected from work, so they should hopefully be collected today.

Yes the RM system automatically removes the collection for strike days .

So, the postman arrived at 2pm today and scanned all 3 parcels I had for collection while I was in standing with him in our reception.

By the time he had reached his van I already had 3 e-mails stating
We've successfully completed your collection request, order number CC-Wxxx-xxxxxxxxx.

.... each with a different order number and tracking number.

Then tonight at 19:05 I get two e-mails for 2 of the 3 orders stating:

We’re sorry but we were unable to fulfil your collection request, order number CC-Wxxx-xxxxxxxxx for the following item(s): YDxxxxxxxxxxGB
If you’d like to arrange another collection, you can do so free of charge. Alternatively, you can take your item(s) to your local Royal Mail Customer Service Point or Post Office.
    We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

Cutting and pasting the tracking numbers from the 2 "failed" item e-mails into the RM tracker states:

    We've got it!
Item was collected as per request on 28-11-2022

  • I tried this last week for the first time ( after two ongoing disasters with packlink 🤬) and it’s brilliant! I now get them to bring the labels as it saves printing ink and there’s are waterproof in case of rain. Have to get organised if I have several parcels but worth it.
