Ask the electrician to check that the number on the meter matches that shown on the bill.

You could see if he will sign a letter of authority. It just needs to be a short note "I give XXX the authority to discuss my account with you." signed, name, address, dated.
The majority of companies will allow you to help on this basis with a copy of the LOA scanned and emailed to their customer service team. Some may only retain it for a few months but it may be helpful until a POA can be sorted.
And for either have all the paperwork ready to go and when you are talking to him and he's agreeable he can sign things. Yes he can change his mind later but in the meantime you can submit things and make progress. fyi - LOA doesn't need to be witnessed but a POA needs to be.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Electrician has been to the property, all appliances were switched off and turned on one by one to see what might be causing the huge amount of usage. Appliances are fine. There was nothing that could possibly be causing the huge amount of electric being used...I'm going to phone eon ask for a in home device, but other than that I really don't know what else to do...0

Thank you for the update. Its a puzzle.
Better than an IHD would be the Hugo app - all you need is MPAN from a bill.
I know some members dont think you should have an online accoint.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

There is little point in telling the consumer that energy theft is suspected. If the person was stealing energy, the evidence of theft would disappear into the night.0 -
the Police are not the slightest interested in any energy theft and have nt been for decades .They consider energy theft a civil offence and will only prosecute if the energy companies want it. Most don t which is why its a rare sight in the Magistrates Courts.
If a supplier happens to discover energy theft they simply rebill and install a prepay meter to collect the debt .Zero deterrent nowadays, just like shop lifting .
I ll be very very surprised if any neighbours are tapping in to his supply .To do that they would need access to the loft from next door . This is someteimes possible in terraced properties.
OP should go up into the loft to look for signs of this happening just to rule it out .
It will be better to pull each fuse on the C.U to narrow down the excess usage .
Eon can only work this out by fitting a check meter ( not check the meter ) to run alongside the original meter .
When I was on the job Eons Revenue Protection Unit was woeful bordering on none existent .0 -
OP's problems are that she lives a long way away and her uncle is not very co-operative.
OP did the electrician take any photo's this morning - photo's of the meter would help. This could yet be a Eon billing issue.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
