Interestingly though the annual projection suggests that usage isn't particularly high, so presumably this is something that has only just occurred.

The other questions that occur to me - why has he had a bill for 10 days use? And if the bills are paid in full each month how does he have a debit balance?

It says it's paid by DD though?

Although looking again, it appears that they are raising multiple bills for a month. It's not possible to see how long a period the previous  -£188.03 covers.

Perhaps that DD hasn't gone through yet , or the supplier hasn't called it  off, or the DD "bounced"

A 10 day bill is suggesting a change of billing date.

Also unless there’s another letter, then the OP should really edit the topic as all he’s had is a bill stating when his variable direct debit will be taken. There’s been no threats to cut him off at all.
Apologies that he was he told us on Friday last week, I now realize that the bill says nothing of the sort

Which then begs the question where is 30 kWh per day going ?
Are you sure that it is not a case of "can't afford to put the CH on so I'll use this little electric heater", seen that many times.

It might be worth also asking him to let you have copies of his previous bills so you can get an idea what the use was in previous months.

@mrsg1990 I think a gentle chat with Uncle is due - if he's fiercely independent that may be difficult .

Perhaps that debt has generally frightened him and there has been a lot of scare stories.

Check he's getting the £66, had the £150, qualify for the £324    or other benefits; insurance premiums ....................
