You can assure your uncle nothing will happen -  he will not be disconnected

Could he post the letter and the last bill to you ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • I've posted previously,as it's my husband's uncle who contacted us about his electric bills going through the roof.

What could be causing such high usage? Do we need to check how much each appliance is using?

  • I have made a new post with the photo of the bill attached

Just to add, that if you are able to visit and can call Eon together you can ask to be a named contact on the account - if your relative is amenable to this, obviously.
i’ve done this for my mother to sort out some eon issues, because although she is fully capable, due to her deafness she has difficulties hearing on the phone. So what we’ve agreed is that I will contact them with any queries and they will text or email the both of us with a reply so we both know what’s going on. That is working quite well.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

How does he use his electricity? Does he have electric plug-in fires or radiators, does he have an immersion heater which is on all the time, does he have storage heating which is setting incorrectly?

You really need to know what he’s got and how he’s using it to help him to cut down.

  • The culprit is highly likely to be some sort of electrical heating or an immersion heater that’s been left on.

I have MSE to merge the two threads

There should be another page relating to payments but the amount owed isn't excessive.

Nor is 30 kWh  a week  day in an electrically heated home  (corrected)

  • Is it not 30 kWh a day that’s been used - approx 300 units over 10 days?
  • Also unless there’s another letter, then the OP should really edit the topic as all he’s had is a bill stating when his variable direct debit will be taken. There’s been no threats to cut him off at all.

30 kWh per day.  Plug in heaters is my guess or an immersion heater with the tap left running.
What type of heating has he got ?
