I wasn’t suggesting you try it, just pondering with my Energy Saving hat on, rather than my TTT neonatal nurse hat (which I don’t possess😉)0

Trip will require a new owner next year. If he survives the fridge, he is potentially worth around £100. I doubt I will manage that from Octopus SS. Money making possibility wins over energy saving?

Also - the timing is poorI mean - the winter is coming and our use will obviously ramp up during the winter - so we are unlikely to be able to reduce our useage at all ?

That's the whole point. There's unlikely to be an electricity shortage in the summer when no-one is using any.

You could put the fish in the fridge too? that way, If the cold doesn't get them, the turtle will when it wakes up and fancies a snack.

I've just signed up for this as well - I don't really expect to get much from it, but I guess it's an interesting experiment. And perhaps something of a(nother) trial to test how the best use can be gained from smart meters in the future. My evening electricity use is normally pretty low anyway but we'll see.0

How much, would we be expected to cut our use by - in order to benefit from this cash ?

You'll find out in the invitation e-mail, most likely. Probably a % and you'd expect them to tell you what that means in terms of kWh too.MouldyOldDough said:How much, would we be expected to cut our use by - in order to benefit from this cash ?1 -
Octopus Energy, which piloted the ESO scheme earlier this year, was the first supplier to officially sign up to the new initiative. It expects to pay customers £4 on average during peak times between November and March through its Saving Sessions service. Octopus says this will add up to £100 over winter, if a customer cuts their electricity use by 1kWh once or twice a week, up to around 25 times in total.

Have received first time - 17:00 to 18:00 today£2.25 for each 1kW that we can reduce our use by during this hourThe thing is that we don't even use 1kW during the hour - so can't benefit !
