Co-operative Refer a Friend Switching Offer £125 (Nov 2022)

I applied for my a/c on 2nd December. I accepted the suggested switching date of 27th December.Once the a/c was up and working, (quick as I had previously held an a/c and the login still worked), I submitted the referral form.Today I've received the debit card and a letter giving the switch date as 29th December but saying this is subject to change. On the referral form I had given the agreed switch date of 27th. Will this cause a problem?0

On Thursday of last week I opened a Starling account and during the signing up process asked to switch from the Co-operative Bank to my new Starling account. My switch date is this Thursday - seven days from opening the account. That's how these things should be done!

I have just received the following email:Bridlington1 said:
The wording is slightly ambiguous regarding what a "new customer" is. In the previous offer it specified that you couldn't get the offer if you'd already received a refer a friend bonus since a specific date. This current offer includes no such term. All it really says regarding what a "new customer" is is:youngretired said:Can anyone that had received the £50 refer a friend previously for switching, confirm that they have received the £125 this time?
I know Masonic had said they'd received the £50 previously and their switch was due to complete beginning of December and also Bridlington1 had received the £50 and new switch completed last Friday (so too early to report).
I told my sister to do this and I originally referred her April 2022 under the £50 (she's closed this acc), but just re-read about only receiving 1 referral (but I'd originally read this as meaning under this new Refer a friend T&C's) so thought I'd doublecheck.I see no reason why those of us who have already received the £50 before can't get the £125 this time, other than if Co-op decline your current account application for whatever reason. Once you've received your £125 there is also nothing to stop you switching your Co-op account elsewhere, then restarting the whole process and keep going. It is clearly an unintended loophole, which I intend to exploit. To qualify for this offer as an eligible new customer you must:2.p.1. open a new Co-operative Bank standard Current Account or Everyday Extra Account"
I shall of course let you all know when Co-op pay up.It appears they have either made an admin error or are classing the £125 offer as a continuation of the previous £50 offer. I have just sent them a secure message asking them to query their decision on the grounds that I received £50 under a previous refer-a-friend offer and not their current offer and thus have not received a refer-a-friend bonus under the current offer.Important information about your Refer a Friend Switching Offer

Think you may best to query it with them, Clive.clivep said:I applied for my a/c on 2nd December. Aren't you supposed to wait until switch has proceeded before you fill the form in?clivep said:I applied for my a/c on 2nd December. When did they confirm switch date? Still not got confirmation of mine0 -
Please let me know the outcome, as it looks like this might happen with my sister and a complaint will be required. Obviously unlike the last Refer a friend, they haven't specified a date and so it is misleading, as obviously they do pay the Refer a friend more than once as people have stated on the forum that they have received both.Bridlington1 said:

I suppose this could be a blessing in disguise really. If I do need to complain and they pay the £125 they could quite easily give me a small cash apology on top for the inconvenience. I've usually found complaints of this nature rather profitable.0 -

Let's see what happens. If they don't pay up I shall be making complaints about their terms being somewhat misleading.Unless there is some undisclosed cut off date others among us have happened to complete the previous offer before, it seems like a mistake. Were there any issues submitting the form that might have created a duplicate? Had you received a payment under the offer by referring someone else? Seems unlikely either of those would apply, so hard to understand how Co-op has concluded you've already received an incentive under this offer.I suppose the fact they revised the payment amount for those with an ongoing switch under the previous offer could mean they aren't seeing them as separate. There was over 12 months between my two payments. Were yours closer together?1 -
There were no issues submitting the form to my knowledge. I never found anyone else to refer so apart from getting the £50 refer-a-friend bonus several months ago I have had nothing else out of them. All I can think is that I was referred by the same person this time as I was the first time so maybe that has an effect on the matter.masonic said:Bridlington1 said:

I was referred the first time in April this year so the switches were pretty close together.0 -
I doubt it's that as I was referred by the same person both times (though not using the same Co-op account). Edit: I'm misremembering, it wasn't the same person, but there are probably others who have used the same person who will be able to confirm if they qualified.Bridlington1 said:All I can think is that I was referred by the same person this time as I was the first time so maybe that has an effect on the matter.
