I'm getting a bit confused with this one.
I have no referral given to me but could be the one that starts the chain.
So I need to open an account.
Can I ask my OH to apply at the same time as me and give them the referral? I've not done a referral based scheme and reading the t&Cs I cant get my head round it. Probably doesn't help its 12.45am and I can't sleep but still!
Why the same time? This may or may not work. Apply and get accepted first, get your account number. Then it's time for your wife to apply.
Yes in this case RAF is confusing because the referee submits the form after opening their account, not in the process like it's normally done.
Even you can first open your account and then find a 'referrer' and claim the bonus (within the set time limits).

applied on 6th with a switch date of 30th Nov. got a text today saying the switch can't be started as the account isn't open yet and to phone them once the account is open to arrange the switch.

the account isn't open as i had to send certified ID which i assume they'd have got yesterday or today. there i was thinking 24 days for the switch was a long time but ok at least there was loads of time.

has anyone has this situation and and then the need be to phone the switch through or will they pickup the switch automatically once new account opened?

i'm ok but my OH struggles with these types of phone calls. her switch is a day after mine so if they get the acount open by tomorrow maybe hers will progress.

    thanks.

Y same for my OH... and same cba with the calls. Didn't help when the queue was 30 mins plus. She's emailed them asking what the issue is and had no response.

This looks like they're making it difficult because they've failed to expect the demand (cost).

I called yesterday and they said they're waiting for information from the bank I have my main current account with, not the one I'm switching?! They couldn't give me more details.

Eh? How do they know who your 'main' bank is?

They asked for it when I applied. I assumed it was for checking against the credit report?

Bit of a risk highlighting to them that main bank account is not being switched.

I’ve been referred by a friend

Step 1 - Apply and switch

Apply for a Current Account or Everyday Extra account online.

If you apply for a Current Account, you can switch your main current account as part of your application, or after the account has been opened.

If you apply for an Everyday Extra account, you’ll need to switch your main current account once the new account is open by calling us or visiting us in-branch.

To be eligible for the offer, the person you’re referring must:

    • Not have a Co-operative Bank current account of any type
    • Open a new Co-operative Bank Current Account or Everyday Extra account
    • Complete a full switch from their main current account to their new Co-operative Bank account using the Current Account Switch Service.

Yeah, should have waited for the account to be open and the switch. My OH opened an account and switched from a non-main account, just like me, and didn't have any issues. He got his card two days later.

I don't recall the exact wording in the application, but they were asking if the applicant already held a current account that could be used for verification purposes. It included a question on how long it had been held. The one I gave them wasn't my main account, but it was the one I'd held the longest.

Same situation here. My plan was to wait for the account to open, get online access, and then request the switch via online banking (unless the offer is withdrawn - if so, get on the phone!).
