Only reason I'm asking is that my brother-in-law applied in August and the switch was never completed. He finally had a letter from Co-op after 8 weeks of investigation stating he had not completed the switch section, but knows he had as you need to validate the switch account details for it to provide the earliest switch date which he was given the 05/09/22 and accepted.

pfpf said:Really! both me and OH previous CoOp account holders at current address.
Applied on the 6th, confirmed on the 7th. received a letter today asking for ID. both of us need to provide proof of ID, not address.
no online method to do this, and needs to be certified. copied and certified? how on earth?
1st time ever ID required and iv'e got just about every account you could speak of.
anyone else?
just got to work out who to certify. does anyone have experience of whether they contact said person? our neighbor is a retired teacher, not "currently working".
I understand that banks / building societies provide this service (free?), but I have not tried this.0 -

Is there no branch option offered and/or viable for you?

My switch from Co-op to Bank of Scotland completed yesterday. I applied for a new Co-op current account earlier this morning and have just received an email to say that Co-op have now approved my application for a new current account. My switch from my other Bank of Scotland account to Co-op will complete on 9th December. If all goes according to plan I should be getting £125 from them just in time for Christmas.1
