Oh blooming heck, I've only gone and offered over asking price. I've sent off my offer letter offering £161, 500. I absolutely loved it. You can see the sea from the kitchen window while you do the washing up. The terrace is even more beautiful in person. The cabin in the garden will need carpet and a lick of paint, and perhaps an electrician to move some plug sockets, but the wood burner is cute! It's currently being used to store turtles and giant koi fish, so it will need some TLC.

For those asking about the chimney breast in the lounge - there was a gas fire that has been removed, and there is plasterboard over the gap. The chimney is working, and I can re-open that and add a log burner in to the house too. There is also a surprising amount of storage, and the garden is south facing.

There are loads of other viewings booked in, and other people that are interested, so I can only hope my offer is accepted.
Luckily my solicitor is on jury duty next week, so I have a bit of breathing room.

£128k left from the sale would mean:
£3k on solicitors fees and moving costs
£5k fixing the campervan up for more free adventures
    £20k premium bonds
£30k towards full and final offers of debt repayments
£2k on doing up garden room.
£10k on a car, prolonging life of camper van and saving a fortune in fuel
£2k on a much needed self catering holiday a week somewhere hot with all the kids.

= £56,000 in the current account, and potentially everything accounted for. I might even consider learning to drive.

I guess we are back to playing the waiting game now. I HATE waiting.

I would let the EA know you want all viewings to be cancelled as a condition of your generous over asking offer.

Also ask for any white goods like fridge/freezer/washing machine etc to be left as part of sale. Most sellers are happy to do this as it means they don’t have the cost/hassle of moving large heavy items.

    Well.
I don't quite know what to make of that. I appreciate what you are saying, and I have been quite open on here that I have endured past abuse that has coloured how I behave, and that I have ADHD and suspected ASD. I know that this influences my behaviours sometimes, which is why its so important that I have this diary as a place to sound out my thought processes and ideas. I appreciate the compliment about being independent. It's something I've struggled with, but I also count it as one of my better qualities.

(I would like to say that for those of you who are supportive of me and who have gently nudged me to take some time to reconsider my actions, I am very grateful to you.)

This past weekend has absolutely highlighted the need for us to have a substantial emergency fund.

Yesterday our septic tank blocked up and my washing machine having nowhere to empty into, instead emptied into the kitchen. Being ankle deep in water was not on my bingo card. Husband had taken stepson hiking, and when I rang him in relative hysteria he was very good at calming me down. Nobody was available to come out and deal with it because it was a Sunday. So we are all in desperate need of a shower and are too scared to use the toilet - instead we are using the toilet from the campervan. I'm ringing around this morning to try and find someone to come and deal with it.

Stepson made a joke along the lines of "all you need now is for the van to pack in" and lo and behold, en route home from Cardiff yesterday at around 4pm, the engine light came on, orange and flashing. Husband drove back at about 35mph, and we are now unable to use the van. So, I have no money, no transport, and am too scared to use the running water.

At some point, our bad luck HAS to run out. I must have smashed a mirror recently, or done a big crime against the invisible sky man, or something. I have absolutely hit capactity for things going wrong.

And I am waiting to hear back from the EA today, so I can only assume that that is going to go well.

  • Fox, there is nothing I can say to improve your current situation - it can feel like it never rains - just pours 😳

Know that most people on your diary are rooting for you 💕 I know you will find a way through this latest issue (because that is what you do, every day) - but it will feel like the world is against you right now. Take care of yourself and huge hugs ❤️

Oh no, what an awful day 😢 Flooding is the worst with cars a close and expensive second. With the poor dog that totals your 3 bad things…you shouldn’t get any more!
When our drains were backing up the plumbers came and blasted the outside drains with a high powered water jet. It fixed the problem and was much cheaper than I was expecting, so fingers crossed yours is a cheap fix too.
Fingers crossed you hear some good news on the new house today.

Just a note to say the above reply from F+F & @poppy811 were not in reply to my message from 1/7.

It looks like that message has been deleted from the thread now - I don’t remember the name of the MSE forumite who posted it.

It definitely wasn't replying to you <3 I did take a screenshot of the comment that was left, and I don't hold any negativity towards the person who posted it - in fairness, from the outside looking in, I probably do appear pretty impulsive and manic. They're welcome to message me, or continue commenting if they like.

Septic tank has been emptied. £200. I haven't paid the invoice yet - am just sat staring at it. If I pay it I have £8 left in my bank account, with £80 of bills still due and very little food in the cupboards. But if I don't pay it, then I've essentially stolen services.
